I recently moved to Brooklyn from San Francisco And haven't been found a barbershop that could match the skills of Black and Gold barber lounge in Daly City until I rolled into City Cuts yesterday. Sitting waiting for my turn I was really impressed with the questions the barbers were asking their customers. They could really pin point what everyone was looking for. When It was turn (about a 15 min wait as a walk in customer) Joe was super friendly, asked a bunch of questions about what style I wanted. More than the basic "just a fade up the sides and trim the top?". Did a perfect scissor trim for my beard, razor line up and an even skin mid high fade. These guys really know what they're doing! I use to go here almost 10 years ago for almost 2 years, and then stopped getting haircuts here after my shape-up was crooked because the fella who had cut my hair, was talking to other people in the shop and got distracted and ruined my hair. Not only did I end up paying for my cut to avoid any problems, but I didn't leave him a tip because of what he did to my hair and he had the nerve to ask for a tip after. I said I wouldn't be back, but I needed a haircut and they're the only ones open in the area on a Sunday. Second time Vlad had me sit there and wait while he ate and chatted on the phone, very unprofessional. Great cuts and been coming here for years. Some of the bad reviews here seem to disregard the fact that the "regulars" aren't being squeezed in beofre the walk-ins because they are cool with them, they simply have appointments. I'm there usually every few weeks, sometimes more if i have time or an event i need a cut for, and sometimes less. But if you make an appointment then be ready to be taken, and if you don't call for an appointment and just walk in then be ready to wait a bit. It's a busy place that's just how it is. Some barbers are busier than others, figure out which one you like best and make appointments and you wont be disappointed. These guys do a great job on your head or face. And if you're there for a hot towel shave, i highly recommend it. A neat cut and a shave like they do and you come out a new man. I'm a "regular" for years and they shamble me (in jest) whenever i walk in without an appointment.
