He didnt remember my instructions when I said the length of my beard/mustache. I said to keep the mustache longer and over the lip, but he cut the mustache the same length. He was rough with the electric shaver and I left with multiple cuts and stinky product in my hair I didn't ask for. I'm unsure how the back of my hair looks because he seemed like he didnt know how to angle the mirror. The place itself is nice and easy to get to. I was looking for a high quality haircut near bensonhurst for my new job, but it's not worth the steep price. Would've been okay if this was cheap, but it wasn't.

There is no shape, no precision -- the hair looks uneven and randomly cut. Now I will need a long time to grow it out and fix it. For the first time in my life, I asked for a refund. When I came back, instead of a professional conversation, I was blamed and accused -- that I was making things up, that I am a difficult client, etc. This was said right in front of me. Very unpleasant and humiliating experience. Do not recommend

I'd show them a picture of something blonde and I'd always get orange back. This is the first place that actually gives you what you asked for. You show them the picture, and when you're done, you look like the picture. And if he can't do it, he tells you straight up what's possible and what you'd have to do to get there. When you sit down in the chair, two women section your hair into the thinnest layers and work a ton of product through it. Joe keeps immaculate written records on little postcards about everything you've ever done there. He knows exactly what you got last time and how it went. That's almost seven years of records now, and it's amazing. Then I usually go to Yuki for the cut. She gives you this incredible layered cut that looks like it takes her no effort at all, and she's friendly. I really enjoy her. When she's done they take a professional photo of you that Joe sends you right away, and he posts it on his Instagram. It's honestly one of the highlights of the trip. It also leaves you a record, so I can look back almost seven years and see what I asked for at the beginning and how it turned out. It's a really nice way to grow old with a business. Joe himself is great and everyone there is wonderful. They always offer a moisturizing treatment, and at $10, given how long you sit there and how many times you get shampooed, it feels like a steal. I can't recommend this place highly enough, because I don't think anywhere else comes close to what they do. And it's always packed, so clearly I'm not the only one who thinks so.

Sal, the barber likes to deal with certain type of people. If he feels you don't fit his ideal clientele, he would be very dismissive and/or skip your turn in favor of another customer. He has a lot of talent but his nonstop chattering with the "boys" and poor attitude prevents him from being a good barber. If Sal can stay silent and focus for the first 15 mins of cutting hair, I'm sure he can produce amazing work and finish the appointment in a timely manner. Until then, I'm bringing my business somewhere else.

* Incorrectly wrote a review for Expert Beauty Salon which is nearby but doesn't exist anymore…read more Written on 6/7/16: I came here for a haircut--about 9 inches gone--after about 8 years of no major haircuts (and one bad layered haircut at Image Crew Studio). Anyway, I got a nice long shampoo wash, and then my barber Nicole cut my hair to the exact length I asked for and parted it a different way I wanted. She didn't really take heed to me afterwards; I didn't want my head to be blow-dried too much bc it's too hot and dry, and then I wanted my hair to be more pointed instead of straight across. She was like "na" both times, but I'll just trust her stylist expertise. Wash + cut + dry was only $18, plus tips. Very worth! Then 10/13/16: Wanted to get hair curled. Blow-dry styling is much cheaper than using a tool like an actual curling iron, but it was my birthday so I was willing. However, I ran out of time. Got my hair shampooed, then this male stylist blew dry my hair, and I had to leave. Shampooing and blow drying itself came to $12. Plus tip and tax was $15. I felt pretty ripped off; however, my previous experience was a 5-star one. This was a 3, so combined is 4.
