Can't speak for 58-room hotel itself because we were upgraded to a huge (approximately 1,000 square feet) apartment that the hotel also rents (apparently there are three apartments total). It is much larger than our apartment in Manhattan. The kitchen was very modern, with IKEA-type finishes. The bathroom was updated. Hot water supply was instant and plentiful. The living room and bedroom were modest but totally adequate. The in-apartment thermostat provided an easy way to regulate temperature quickly.
We had own modern kitchen, and a modestly appointed living room and bedroom, a large updated bathroom and the bonus of a clothes-washing machine. The only downside is a lack of wifi in the apartment itself. There is a wired ethernet internet connection, but this will do your i-phone, i-pad no good. For a macbook air you will need an Ethernet to USB converter. You must go to the hotel lobby next door to use the wifi there. In the lobby, the wifi signal is strong and fast- as good or better than any other hotel. There was not an an ipod/iphone speaker in our room/apartment.
Just across the river from the northwestern corner of the square area considered the city center, and thus very close to a few of the restaurants that are recommended by the USA guidebooks. There is a large grocery store literally next door to the hotel, and two banks across the street. The complimentary breakfast is an impressive spread of eggs, veal sausages, crispy speck bacon, yogurts and toppings, pastries, rolls, juices, cheeses, meats, champagne, coffee, hot chocolate, etc., etc. etc.
The staff is very pleasant and helpful, and proficient in English. For example, they tipped us off on taking a bus line to Budapest instead of the train, for approximately a 50% savings in cost.
The fitness room is quite meager, which the staff will readily admit. There is an exercise bike, a very basic elliptical machine, a TV, a couple small barbells, and a sit up bench. My guess is that if you use the room, you will wind up alone, like me. A day-pass to a nearby full gym will set you back 20 Euro. Our "room rate" was different on different nights, but the average was 176 Euro/night. read more
