Since then, the owner Brad has continued to evolve his gym both in supplies, training style, and employees. They offer affordable 1:1 training as well as group fitness classes that are effective and efficient. As a trainer myself, I love their method of using drop-sets, heavy weights, and functional movement/cardio.

I also realized that it was one more excuse that I didn't need to avoid exercising. A long time ago, I had a really good experience with a Personal Trainer, and decided that was what I needed to do. I came across Retrofit Studio reviews here on Yelp, sort of accidentally. I liked what I read from the reviews & their website. I liked the idea of a private studio too. I called Brad & set up a consultation. There is no doubt that Brad loves what he does & wants every client to be successful. He spent a lot of time listening & talking to me about realistic goals, nutrition, and what to expect. He decided to set me up with Mark, one of his trainers. So far, I have had 8 training sessions with Mark. When Brad said he was a good fit for me, he was right! My sessions are 30 minutes, 2 times a week. By the time I leave, I am a sweaty mess! Mark challenges me, makes sure I have good form, and always encouraging. If I don't do it right, I have to do it again. Every session varies to work different muscle groups, especially the areas that are difficult to target. As hard as he makes me work, I'm never too sore to exercise in between our sessions. That is important to me because I need to do my part outside of our sessions. Mark checks with me regarding my diet and what I'm doing to reach my weight loss goals between our sessions. I always have fun training with Mark even when it's really difficult. The studio itself is great. It's very clean, doesn't smell funky like a lot of gyms (ha!), and a great variety of training techniques & equipment. There are a few cardio machines for client use before or after a session. Every trainer is always encouraging clients, whether it's their client or not. What about results? I started to feel stronger right away and continue to feel that way. I'm steadily losing weight & seeing the jiggle disappear! My muffin top is shrinking! I asked my husband if he noticed any changes. The poor guy looked at me with slight fear of answering the wrong way. ha! I wanted an honest answer. I don't expect fast results, but I am curious if the changes I see are noticeable to others. He said that he has seen a big change. He said I have been a lot happier since I started training with Mark. I wasn't expecting that answer & it made me realize I haven't felt that way about getting in shape (or trying to) in a long time. It sort of made me all verklempt! This is one of the best decisions I've made in a long time!

Revised at the end - went to another class…read more.. Checked this place out today - I had a guest pass to check out the classes/facility. Came in handy today because I wanted to work out but I had 2 kids in tow. After dropping off the kids, I did the Zumba class which was packed. Here is the good and bad: Good: Free childcare while you work out Friendly people!!!! Staff and other Y members were all super nice. Towels for the shower/pool available to borrow Clean facility and locker rooms. Showers had soap. Coffee Lots of classes/choices Price is competitive Bad: Building is run down a bit. For the price, it is expected. No easy scheduling - online is difficult and there isn't a catalog like (virtually) every other facility on the planet Room was hot... Instructor was not great (see below if you are interested) Bad continued (Zumba/instructor issue): The issues were multifaceted: instructor had a difficult time showing the reverse of the moves, so often people were all pointed/moving/spinning in different directions. Also, stick with me here but the basic theory of dance/Zumba is the moves are TYPICALLY in even sets, or in patterns of 4. This instructor did sets of 3 and then would stop that move to show what was coming up - people (including me) didn't know if we were to do the even move, or the preview move. Finally, the instructor showed the easy version, but never the difficult one. So I'm not sure if I was sweating because the heat was blasting or because I was getting an amazing workout. Luckily the girl next to me knew all the steps, so I started following her. With regard to the stars, I feel like 4 stars is totally on par - a family membership is $100/month and it includes most of the classes, the pool, and childcare. It is a great value! As for me, I am really torn. I've been going to a different place for a month which I really like but was considering moving to the Y to merge my activities with my kids. I don't know if I can get past the instructors... I'll try another class and revise my rating if it is markedly better. Revision: Took another class. It was markedly better. The classes still seem to cater to old (which is the clientele, which is well over 50 years old...). But this class was more cardio and I know I got a good workout. The instructor was not confused which was a plus. I have 1 more day on my pass, and I'll do one more class.

What a way to start the day! Pool, wellness center, and track! Staff was friendly and helpful…read more Members were greeting each other. It did not disappoint! Thank you!

A new day brings a new set of workouts and class format. Different instructors also help to spice things up! Jerilyn, Joe, Alison - I'm looking at you guys! All of the instructors are knowledgeable, motivating, and really push you to do more. I love the formats of the classes. Each set is 45 seconds which is great for me because I get bored easily. It's helped me to realize that I can do anything for 45 seconds, no matter how hard it is. Since I have been attending classes regularly, I've been feeling much stronger, had more energy, and even decreased pain with a longtime shoulder injury. Not to mention, dropping 10 lbs (along with dietary changes). Even though the workouts are exhausting and take everything out of me, Fuse45 really has become my happy place. If you have been thinking about it, give it a try. Your future self will thank you :)

Fuse45 is criminal in their business scheme - taking advantage of clients in the interest of earning an extra dollar. As an unlimited member you are charged $10 for a missed class on top of the $140 you have already paid for a month's worth of sessions. There was actually a morning where I was made to feel "lucky" for not having been charged the $10 for electing not to drive during a snow storm which caused local schools and businesses to close. Furthermore, you WILL be charged TEN days before the month begins with no means of skipping, pausing, or being respected as a person with conflicts on occasion - regardless of whether or not you sign a contract, so I strongly discourage you to provide credit card information as they seemingly do what they choose with it. I authorized a trial month at Fuse45, and when charged for the following month immediately contacted them and merely requested to put the month on hold as I was traveling and could not use the service. When the response was "no, we can't do that, it's against our policy" I immediately contacted my credit card company as 1) I did not authorize the charge and 2) could not be able to make the $140 worth it. At this point I have asked that all subsequent months be canceled as I will not support a business that does not support its clients and their individual needs. It is manipulative and in poor taste to charge customers for services when they have 1) communicated they do not want said service and 2) do not utilize the service.
