Reflections on transfer student experience: Quickly integrated into social events and groups. Many many offerings including about 5 BSU-related events in 4 days. Each campus has its own BSU, plus there is the office of Black Student Affairs, and so much overlap. Though the overall percentage of Black students could be higher, the ability to find one's people and be supported by the school is great so far. (and there are many professors of color) Lots of new-school-year plant-related events and artsy events (make ___ for your dorm decor and get to know people kind of thing) Professors: there are good and bad everywhere, but so far all professors are great and classes are happening at Pitzer, Pomona, CMC. Treatment of transfers: a little slow. They seem to forget they have transfers at key moments, so resilience when first onboarding is needed. Not a reason to reject Pitzer, just something to prepare for. Academic Accommodations: slow from this office. Much promised but seems so far like students have to bug the office for what is due. Not a reason to reject Pitzer, just something to prepare for. Libraries: as non-students taking a self-guided tour, looks good. Lots of different types of spaces in the beautiful main library, including 2 treadmill desks!. Scripps has a little library that is so pretty. Lovely garden spaces: the Botanic Gardens are HUGE and right next to the CCA (campus-owned apartments where many upperclass can live). Campus has newly revised student garden and associated club. Many lovely spaces on campus to appreciate. Cute downtown has enough to cater to college kids. As with any college decision, student must find the vibe and finances that match them, but Pitzer has much to offer if these 2 things are in line for you.

The professors, admin, and staff are good here. You definitely get the private university experience with a smaller student-to-instructor ratio in all your classes. You'll see a lot of current students at the information desks, helping out with campus tours, and everything else in between. University of La Verne (ULV) education quality is comparable to other private colleges in the region, if not better. Especially if you're looking for something more East or inland than out in L.A., ULV would be a good choice. Admission is pretty fair and if you meet their program criteria, you will likely become an honorary Leo, too.

It's a private Division II Christian University that has two campuses a few blocks from each other. Their motto is God First and the university is beaming of His Light. They offer a free and frequent shuttle to go to/from East - West campus. The library, sports center and science building are on the west campus and are amazing. These buildings are newer and well designed. The main book store is also here near the sport center to buy your APU swag. Starbucks is on campus with many other food places. If you are still hungry, there are hundreds of food places next to campus, such as Chick-Filet, Canes, chipotle, Panda Express, Applebee's, Del Taco, Ramen, Mexican, Thai, Boba tea and much much more. The dorms are more spacious than other universities. Engstrom Hall has dual dorms that house 4 students with one adjoining, shared bathroom among the two dorm rooms. This is much better than the huge communal style bathroom for dozens. Overall, this private Christian university is about making good, smart and humble servants who can make a positive difference in the world while putting God first always. Go Cougars!

The football field is in great condition, seating is comfortable and offers a great view, food offered in the snack bar was excellent and the breeze one feels here on a hot afternoon/evening is perfect to keep you cool. The ONLY negative issue was the restroom. For the men, there is only one toilet and no urinals which resulted in a long line for most of the game. Definitely a challenge if you are a big water drinker like myself but also like myself, we all dealt with it as best we could all night. Five stars for the amazing hospitality, food, seats etc.. four stars for the restroom situation

My daughter has been harassed multiple times by the dean and they have consistently made her feel shameful of her body, even though she is a star athlete that represents the school and has helped them win multiple times. I was originally told by one of their big alumni that they do not like children of color. As a mom with a black daughter, I did not believe it originally however, after my daughter now being at the school for two years, I realize she has been treated differently and she has been harassed because of the way she looks from teachers and the deans. They do not work with you, the school counselors don't get the schedules right, they don't return phone calls, they don't ensure your child is getting the right classes. It's almost like they don't even do work at this school, several are the teachers are extremely underqualified and they're just somebody's friend and they do not care what happens to your child. If your child forgets a lunch, they do not even allow you to leave the child's lunch. You are forced to buy a lunch from them. It just seems like all they care about is payments. The Catholic Church needs to stop funding them. This school is nothing but about taking your money and not doing right by your kids. They are not treating black kids right and they barely treat everybody else decent. I am so sorry that I even had my daughter come here. Now we are stuck here or she goes to multiple high schools, which is something I never wanted to do. Hopefully I can save another parent from this heartbreaking experience that I have been going through with this school. I am incredibly disappointed in the administration, the school and the Catholic practices that they instill. And I have no problem with religion, my oldest graduated from Mater dei and Bishop Amat is not even a 10th of what they are. I just live so far now but I wish I would have never went here. Hopefully this helps someone. Don't go here especially if you're black because they don't like us and harass all the black kids.

Review for Sandburg Middle School Our family has lived in…read moreGlendora since 1996, and we truly love this community. My husband served as a local pastor for many years, and I spent three decades as an educator, including teaching in nearby Azusa. Our five daughters grew up here, so our family has deep roots and friendships throughout Glendora. Today I am a grandmother, and two of my grandchildren attend Sandburg Middle School. We appreciate the many teachers and staff who work hard every day to support students. Our family does face some health challenges. My grandchildren live with autoimmune conditions that sometimes cause physical pain and emotional strain, and their mother -- a dedicated social worker -- manages lupus and fibromyalgia while continuing to work full time and care for her children. Because of this, occasional issues with absences or timing can arise. One small example happened this morning when my daughter arrived just one minute late turning in a required form. The immediate response from the front office was "no exceptions." Several minutes were spent explaining the rule, when perhaps those same few minutes could have been used to help find a solution -- such as assisting with submitting the form to the staff in the gymnasium. Policies are important, but so is the tone in which they are delivered. A moment of empathy and problem-solving can make a tremendous difference for families navigating health challenges or difficult circumstances. As a retired educator who worked closely with the Los Angeles County Office of Education, I have seen how impactful empathy training and family-centered leadership can be. My hope is that Glendora Unified School District continues to strengthen training for staff and administrators in areas such as empathy, cultural awareness, and understanding the mental and physical health realities many families face today. Glendora is a wonderful community, and with continued growth in these areas, our schools can reflect the same care, flexibility, and support that make this city such a special place for families.
