Of course always grabbed a copy of Creative Loafing to check out cool events that I couldn't attend because I was underage and or had no driver's licence. Fast forward a few decades and CL is still one of my favorite sidekick for what is cool, interesting and or off beat for this city of mine. Besides letting you know what's worthy of checking out in this fine city of the south they also have great short fiction written by local talents. We shouldn't be surprised that there are so many talented local writers in this city. After all this is the city of Gone With The Wind and telling stories to each other is as natural as sweet tea and fried okra baby! For the past 10+ years or more my favorite reason to get the CL is the legendary epicurean Cliff Bostock. He was a foodie before most of us were even born! Whether it's Waffle House or some foo foo restaurant where they serve you food the size of a half dollar and then have the nerve to charge you half a Benjamin for it. You can always depend on CB to give you the honest truth in a down to Earth no pretensions manner. BTW if you want to torment yourself check out the 100 dishes to eat article https://creativeloafing.com/content-270683 don't read this when you're hungry as I did..you'll hate yourself. Best the best thing about CL are the classified...funny as hell.....

There are some very talented writers at Creative Loafing, and my hat goes off to them for the remarkable job that they do on a weekly basis. Undoubtedly the best Newspaper that Atlanta has to offer. Not to mention, they are free. Which is nice because I would never pay for something that wastes millions of trees anyways. I can't wait until there is no such thing as a newspaper actually. Our generation no longer needs it, considering we are ushering in the digital information age. Get with the times you small minded journalists, and quit throwing that dumb Buyer Savings newspaper in my driveway that I repeatedly told you to stop giving me.

The address for this beloved hometown newspaper was originally listed incorrectly on Yelp. I hope…read moreyelp fixed it. Like many of these hometown newspaper these days MDJ has thinned out over the years. But still its great for local news and if you are looking for things to do on the weekend these guys have you covered. I remember growing up they would cover our high school football events (they still are the go to for all the local high school games coverage) and from time to time I like to check out the highly anticipated Hillgrove vs. McEachern games or Walton vs. Lassiter, etc. If you grew up in the area...high school football is sacred and McEachern was the team to beat..and still is...by the way McEachern played Hillgrove a few days ago people are still talking about it...https://www.mdjonline.com/cobb_football_friday/mceachern-outlasts-hillgrove-in-controversial-finish-to-rivalry-game/article_589d1694-eca0-11e9-b24f-bb656d6b02d6.html Although on a side note the most intense high school football game I've ever been to is the Milton vs. Roswell...those people are serious....Anyway very glad this newspaper is still around...keep up the good work guys!

With the exception of a few mishaps(paper guy forgot to delivery my paper), everything went smooth. I would call to let them know I didn't receive my paper and they would deliver it to me within a few hours. Lately, things have changed. Now if you don't receive your paper, you don't have anyone to call because there's no one there on the weekend. Sometimes during the week also when there's no holiday. You won't get your paper. You only have one option and that's to extend your subscription. If you want your paper, the only way that'll happen is if you go out and buy it from a local merchant. That's what happened to me. I called Saturday, Sunday & Monday7/31-8/2) when I didn't receive my paper and MDJ was closed. I don't know of any holidays on those days. I called Tuesday and finally got someone who connected me with the supervisor of the Subscription department. I left two messages about what happened and today(3 weeks later), I have yet to hear back from MDJ. The next day I called just to cancel. I don't give people like this my busines. When I did, I was told I would be charged a $10.00 cancellation fee. First of all, that was not disclosed to me when I subscribed. Also, MDJ breached their contract with me. I paid you for a Sunday paper EVERY Sunday! Not on the Sundays you want to delivery after you screw up. Do your job and you and you wouldn't have this problem. Your customer service SUCKS because it doesn't exist. I have filed a case with the BBB to retrieve my money from these CLOWNS and you can best believe MDJ will NEVER get my business again.
