I want to update my initial review. The bank Branch Manager, Marcelo, and the bank tellers, all provide exceptional service. I have had nothing but good experiences with this bank branch. The 5 stars are for them, and their customer service. My initial 1 star review was aimed at a decision made at Citibank's Corporate level. Some bean counter at Corporate thought it a great idea to gouge their customers with an extraneous, exorbitant fee of $15 per month, then insult us by calling it a "service fee". This fee smacks me as being motivated by greed. Calling it "service" is pure HUBRIS. I am outraged, at Corporate, for treating me as only an income source, only a number, only an idiot. There is no customer and no service, in this new fee from Corporate. Did the bank forget that it NEEDS customer deposits in order to then turn around and loan these deposits out? Citibank pays me a pittance for my deposits, but makes multitudes more- from MY money. Now they want to insult me, by nickel and diming me just for keeping my money there. Really?! I understand that banks exist to make money, but capitalism is great in that it works BOTH ways. There are OTHER financial institutions. I was a faithful and customer for years, but I am disgusted and indignant- I took out ALL my money, and found a bank with NO fees. Again, the STAFF at this bank branch are great. As with most institutions, the people working in the trenches, every day, are providing excellent "service". Corporate can learn from their employees, who actually interface with the public. Citibank should remember that customers vote, with their wallet. Look at your monthly statement and if you are being charged this "service fee"remember that you have OTHER options. read more

I have relationships with WFB and BOA and of course, my favorite branch of Citibank on Rancho Park. I actually enjoy going there where at BOA, I just use the ATM to make my deposits. At Citibank RanchoPark, Marcelo always greets me with a smile, we shake hands and he offers if I need any additional help. Staff is great also, everyone of them. From Andew to Crystal and all other emplyees as well. They are simply great. I usualy never have to wait more than 5 or 10minutes to get service. It is fantastic that Marcelo takes care of each and every customer that comes into his branch. I have noticed his intereaction with the emplolyees. He treats them with outmost repect and he is quick on his feet to provide overrides or answer their questions. I always recommend this branch of Citi to all my clients. I went to to the West LA Branch Citibank because I needed to make an emergency deposit into a friend's account. Not only did I have to wait in line for 30 minutes to make this deposit to my friend. But the teller looked at me and asked me what I did for a living, asked me for my ID and he asked for my Social Security number! Since when did you become interrogated when wanting to give your friend some money who's having financial difficulty? I was very offended and I refused to answer that question for him I said I'm not gonna give you my Social Security number...what what do I need give that to you for? Seriously, I was making $125 deposit into the checking account of my girlfriends who had a financial emergency. When I refused to give him this information the teller became more obnoxious than he was already being. I've already reported him to Citibank headquarters however, I'm sure they won't do anything about it. I was just extremely offended, so beware. read more

Last week, one of their best employees, ANDREW NAVARRO, spent nearly 3 hours, carefully trying to untangle a maddening problem with a credit card payment. Andrew was remarkably patient and careful and unwilling to give up until he solved the problem. -1 star for the annoying parking situation This locations is on the corner of Pico and Overland, which can get pretty congested and hard to get to during peak, rush hours. The bank itself inside is pretty decently updated and the tellers are all very friendly. For something that is supposed to be quick (like going to the ATM or make a deposit), I find it difficult to come to this location. If you have time on your hands, the lot next door is fine and they validate the 1st 20 minutes for you, so be wary of that if you are coming in for a longer period of time. read more

This review is several months overdue but I needed to make sure Alejandra & Arlethe receive the public praise they deserve for going above and beyond the call of duty- WITH a pleasant smile on their face. I came into the branch to deal with several deposits, wires and transfers during the escrow process. My transactions and requests were not always the easiest to complete, yet these two were always willing to problem solve and figure out the best solution to whatever dilemma we ran into. Nowadays, almost robotic 'Yes' or 'No' answers are what we experience in customer service, but that was not the case during my visits to this Citibank location and specific interactions with Alejandra and Arlethe. Purchasing a home is already a very stressful and time-consuming process, so thank you both for making at least this part as smooth as possible. The staff here were amazing! So courteous, friendly, professional, and helpful. I needed to deposit a check that had been denied for mobile deposit due to 2 minor scratch-outs (one on the date line, on one the amount written online). Karina Amanda and her coworker were fantastic! They quickly resolved the issue (deposited my check) and Karina Amanda even shared a check deposit mishap story of her own (which made my situation feel relatable, and even welcome!). I normally dread going into the bank because it typically takes forever and I'm impatient. The bankers are very accommodating, knowledgeable and sincere whenever they work with me. Though this branch seems like a busy hub, they always seem to have great customer service and a friendly smile. Trust is key and I feel confident banking with this branch because of their staff. I opened up 2 new accounts with Citibank. One is a large CD and the other is checking account with a debit card. Went to ATM to withdraw cash. "Quick Withdraw" and it's only $40. Couldn't buy a full lunch in Los Angeles with $40. I went to the branch to increase limit. They said they don't handle it. I had to go to the debit card telephone number on the back of the card. After over an hour of being switched from one computer to another computer to another computer to a person who didn't speak English and I couldn't understand them to a supervisor who should not be in a supervisory position only to find out that they can't change the limit either. Therefore, there quick withdrawal system is useless. To have to spend over an hour only to find out that the bank can't do a simple process is quite shocking. As soon as my CD is up, I will go and remove everything from Citibank mainly because they have such poor customer service. read more

Worst Citibank ever. I am Citigold and have been for over a decade and will be transferring all my money out. I had to wait 20 minutes to make a check deposit and I asked to talk to a representative about opening an account for my son. They said no problem and the wait is 20 minutes. After waiting an hour no one came to help me. There were two people working and one guy (a younger Hispanic guy) decided to take a break after working for an hour and the manager told me I have to wait longer bc he needs a break. After waiting over an hour I decided to leave. All of my friends have made the change to first republic bank and they are very happy. I think I will be doing the same. read more

The worst customer service. I came in on a Saturday to open a Savings account. I knew I would have to wait because there's very few Citibanks that are open on weekends, so I knew the wait would be somewhat long. I was surprised to see that they only had one personal banker working; this is 12pm on a Saturday. The line for the tellers was also extremely long. I stood around the waiting area for about 15 mins because all the seats were already taken. Not once did anyone come up to me to offer their help. No one acknowledged me whatsoever. I ended up leaving and decided to take my business elsewhere. This is crazy how they run this bank. This place is definitely understaffed and what the heck is up with management. Not unfriendly, just woefully incompetent. Cashing a $50 check can take 20+ minutes because they don't know what they're doing. THE ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I came in today to cash a small paycheck as i have for the past three to four years. The teller informed me that they no longer cash checks from non account holders and then handed me a flyer. I then spoke to the manager who i had never seen before and informed her that i deposited checks in the account weekly in behalf of my employer and that i was never informed in the previous weeks of the change . She was very rude and insisted that the tellers passed out said flyers to every customer which was incorrect. I was treated very rudely and the manager was very condescending. This building offers basic mid-century modern aesthetics but needs a bit of tidying up. What it does NOT need is that grotesque, giant advertisement on the north walll with huge prison yard lights that destroy the night sky for neighbors. I have reported this ad to the City Attorney's office in hopes that an investigation will reveal that the huge advertisement is in fact illegal. I encourage others to call the city and report this outrageous sign. What it also does NOT need is a bailout bank (citibank) as a tenant. There used to be a local bank in the building, and we need to go back to that. We need to get rid of these bailout banks for good. Personally, I decline to do business with them. I bank with LA-based Center Bank, which is very well run and does not nickel and dime the customer to death with excessive fees the way the bailout banks (chase, citibank, BofA, wells fargo, etc) do. I have been here several times because I am constantly loosing my debit card. The people who work here are always the nicest people in the world!! I always dread coming and then after I leave I think why aren't more people this nice at businesses? The parking is a bit of a pain, but you just have to remember to get your ticket validated and then its no big deal.
