I am having to write this review here because CITI CARD BANK does not have anywhere to write a public review about them. On October 28,2025 I purchased some jewelry while on a cruise from Joyas Caribe in Cozumel Mexico. When I got back I doubted it is fake and it sure was! I took it to Tappers Jewelry and got it inspected by a professional and he wrote me a letter proofing it is fake. I contacted Citi Card and sent them all the documents and proofs to prove it is fake and to prove that I sent back the items to Mexico and got nothing out of it. The jewelry store has no phone number or email to contact them just their address on the receipts and they still chose to side with them. Today December 29th 2025 I received my credit card statement from september!. Fortunately I had paid them off in October when I didn't receive my statement and I looked at my bank payment and realized I needed to pay. I called customer service. The call center was so busy they had to call me back in 45 minutes. I literally could not understand the representative I was speaking to. That's because they're in india!. Horrible customer service. I spoke to 4 representatives within a span of a half hour and none of them could answer my questions. All representatives have thick accents and waste so much time repeatedly saying, "That's wonder Mr...., very good Mr...., That's so helpful Mr...., etc.). On one incident, I told the representative how much my annual income was and she repeated it back to me as $15 million. I finally asked for a supervisor. I told the rep that this was an insulting amount for a card of 5 years. The rep asked if a credit report could be pulled and I said 'yes'. After a bit I was asked my income and I provided it, then I was asked how much I paid monthly for a mortgage or rent. My reply was that I paid neither as I owned my home. Apparently no one in India can understand that people here in civilization own their own homes and we went around the bush 4 times with the same question and the same answer. Card had to be replaced. Took over two weeks to be told that they would FedEx a new card overnight. Keep being told it would arrive tomorrow. The cheap company could have FedEx it in the first place. I disputed the charge with Citi Cards, but Citi Cards failed to issue me a credit for the money I was due. This was a large amount of money that I could not afford to lose. Because of this card I am switching to Sam's Club from Costco. I am 76 years old and have always paid on time but last month I made a mistake on my bank account info. and my payment was returned (not, for lack of funds). Before it was returned I called them and made another payment so my account was never past due. They even promised to refund the $29 returned payment fee. Since then they have blocked my account completely (now almost a month) even though I have called them three times. I made an additional payment of $800 which they are holding now for 8 days and will not post until March 25th. All this and my account was never in arrears? Their customer service agent today said, "that's our policy and there is nothing you or we can do". So Costco loses a customer. Great card!! read more

Don't waste your time! It simply is not worth the effort! For starters, I applied for a card on 1/2/18 and was immediately approved. The amount was only $3800, but that was OK, for now. They said they mailed the card on 1/5/18, but that's when the fun began. Their credit card operations department never bothered to test their system to make sure that an address entered would fit on the printout line for, at least, the mailing label. It took until 3/13 until we actually got the cards in hand, and it took five phone calls with a deep investigation that we were who we claimed to be to speak to anyone to try and get the problem resolved (we didn't know what the problem was and they wouldn't tell us). We have other cards, with better rewards for some purchases, but none that give 2% rewards on everything. That's why we wanted the citicard - for more rewards on items not covered with 5% rewards elsewhere. After getting the cards, we thought the troubles would be over. Nope... We attempted to to use the citicard SEVEN times and it was declined THREE of them. We went to get some new tires on the car, DECLINED. Called them up the next morning, absolutely livid!!! They apologized up down and sideways. The next day we went to a resort on the coast for our 40th anniversary... DECLINED!!!!! Stopped at a restaurant on our way home, less than $30... DECLINED!!! They DO have an extremely fine sales prevention department, but when it comes to customer service, they are the worst company to deal with that I've ever encountered. They are incapable of texting to Xfinity cell phones or calling Comcast land lines. We are paying off the bill and firing them. read more

Today--- October 1st 2020,-- a Citicard billing statement for September 2020 arrived-- which we have STOPPED using this credit card --the CITIcard SINCE JUNE 20th--therefore, there should NOT be any new charges at all!! And yet, there were AGAIN two unrecognized charges from Walmart as of Sept. 9th and 10th respectively. We CANCELLED our Walmart account since JUNE 20th 2020! I told a Walmart repreasebtative to CANCEL our account because someone has been illegally using our CITIcard Please we have been communicating in ENGLISH--we ddid not use any other language in any of our correspondence at all. TWO MONTHS LATER after entirely STOPPING using this card:- How could anyone still charge for something from Walmart and the amount showed up on the statement for the new unactivated card?? In short we have NEVER activated this new number from CITICard at all!???!! --REPEAT :_ we have NEVER ACTIVATED the NEW replacement citicards--that were meant to replace our previous cards that were cancelled-- And we cancelled the Walmart account since June 20th, 2020. Does that meant the person(s) using fraudulently work at Walmart? IF NOT, Why does this most recent CITICARD-statement have these two Walmart charges --when we NEVER intend to ACTIVATE the new card till this pending problem of someone fraudulently using our card is resolved??? They will not cover your rental car any longer, but even when they did before, what's the point? They would do everything in their power not to pay in case of an accident. Their customer service/dispute department is a mess, very unhelpful. They will not be on your side, but rather on the merchant's side. Very unclear, confusing process! They don't send messages directly to your inbox, or in some cases don't even tell you there is a message, like all other cards do, you have to log in into their website and go through layers of menus to find an important message you have been waiting for. Their reps speak with heavy accent. They charge foreign transactions fees. I would give Citibank and in particular Citicard even higher than 5 stars if I could. They are that good. I purchased an large, inflatable swimming pool for the backyard in May 2020, hoping , as many people did, that we could use it as an anitdote to the general restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic. The seller turned out to be in China (although that's not always a bad thing), and this wasn't apparent from their website. When I finally received their product (which I suspect took so long because they didn't manufacture it or buy it from the manufacturer until I bought it), it was the wrong size (smaller). A few months later, after wrangling with the seller online (to no avail) and with PayPal (lots of promises of help, but ultimately no help in getting a refund), I contacted Citicard ... and received lots of help, good, professional help. I submitted the requested documentation online (easy with their online systems), was issued a provisional refund after review, and waited for the seller to respond to them. The seller essentially refused the return shipment, then lied and said they hadn't received it. Citicard told me my claim was denied and the refund cancelled, but offered me a chance to submit additional supporting documentation regarding the return shipment, which I did. After a review of the additional documentation, they reinstated the provisional refund, contacted the seller and must have said, essentially, "How do you explain this?" One month later, the provisional refund became permanent. When no one else will help you and you're about to see over $600 go down the drain, having Citicard on your side is a lifesaver. When their webpages say, "How can we help?" it's not just an advertising slogan. They helped when no one else would. read more

They don't want my business anymore, after 12 years. Disappointed with CitiCards. I have been a model customer since 2005, paying off my balance every month, on time or early. I had a large credit line (over $40k) and was designated as a Flexible Spending Account, meaning I could go over the limit if needed. I got notice that my account, a Hilton Honors credit card, was being sold to AMEX and the benefits reduced (no more automatic Diamond Membership in the HHonors Club). I called and told them I wanted to convert my card to a "no-membership, no-fee card" to retain my age of account and history with them, and THEY SAID "NO CONVERSION IS AVAILABLE!" They did say I could apply for a new Citi Card but I'd lose my age of account (which is very important on your credit report). These guys really give me no reason to stay with Citi, and I don't want an AMEX Card at the same annual fee but lesser rewards...so I closed my account. My credit rating today is 858. If it goes down due to this cancellation, I'm going to rant about it everywhere I can. Impeccable credit, pays on time or early, and they offer me NO OPTION to even stay with them. Do not get a Citibank credit card. The company closed my account despite being with them years, several credit lines and a business bank account . I was never late on payments. I made several extra payments through their automated system. The bank accounts were recorded incorrectly even though the system said my payments were processed. Rather than work with me they cancelled my card without notice. TheE were payments above and beyond my normal monthly obligations that were always paid on time. I applied for the Citi Premier MasterCard. I have flawless credit and FICO scores ranging from 835 to 850. I have no debt except for about 150k on a house worth $800,000. We have no balances on any credit cards, including a Citbank Double Cash MC which we've had for over a decade. We pay off our credit cards every month and have for the past 35 years. Income is $230,000/year. Assets are several million. I was declined due to having applied for another credit card the same day. We wanted two travel cards with one as a backup, hence the second application. Note that this is the first time in over 7 years we've applied for credit. After we complained to the company, they finally agreed to open an account, but made the limit 2000. This is ridiculous. The requirement for the bonus points for this card is that you spend 4000 to earn them. Kind of tough to do with a lousy 2000 limit! Why they treat long-time, loyal customers like us so poorly is beyond me. Their policies are ludicrous and a 2000 limit is like a joke - what use is a card with this tiny little limit? We are closing ALL of our Citibank accounts immediately. We get treated MUCH better by Chase. We are DONE with Citibank. PERIOD. read more

Went to change name on CC acct from wife (who recently died) to myself. They said no and instantly closed acct. OK, so I will gladly change banks but this acct is also due for payment and now cannot make payment online. So much for paperless billing. Called customer service - automated system with no option to speak to representative. Enter acct number and CC info - the system than transfers you to dead air and then hangs up. Not once but every time. Took more than an hour to find a number that has a human attached to it and they speak such broken English that it was completely impossible to understand. Even with their fault of not sending statements and even after speaking to them to get the amount due of $119, I was able to electronically sent them a bank check which they received on exact due date, they charged me $20 late fee, because they processed the check 2 days later. Citibank was great with my double rewards credit card for about 4 years. I always paid on time more than the minimum payment! I started with a low credit limit and built it up over 4 years. I was never late or delinquent. They are making lots of money on me on interest. All of sudden, they decided to lower my credit limit during the Pandemic during these difficult times for no good reason! This shows poor judgment and a lack of loyalty or respect for me as a customer. I'm tired of calling their off shore call centers in the Philippines and India! I applied for an received an aadvantage citi card. I expected 40K miles after spending $2,000 in 3 months - which I exceeded-. I did not get the miles. They said I had an existing card that I didn't close until December 2016, so it was less than 24 months when I opened a new card in October 2018. There is no sign of this card on my credit report. I cancelled the new card. They didn't seem perturbed. btw I have 750,000 miles with American. I'm genuinely confused why they would do this. If they thought I didn't qualify for the deal why didn't they tell me at the time? When I explained that I did and they had faulty info why wouldn't they review? This isn't complicated . I am so tired of poor customer service, no follow through and promises unkept. I was notified by Citibank of suspicious charges on my account. I verified they were fraudulent. They assured me that it would be removed and I wouldn't be responsible. I've had the card since 1994 and have NEVER had a late payment on this or any other account. Perfect credit. They issued a new card and the fraudulent charges transferred over because of an arrangement between the companies and Citibank. It was Netflix and Xbox charges. I have never used Xbox and my Netflix is billed to a totally different card. After Six phone calls , two of which they disconnected me, and over right hours on the phone....it is still not resolved. I owe nothing on the card so I don't make payments. They reported to the credit bureau that I was late on a payment (for these fraudulent charges) and my credit score dropped 100 points. From 840 to 740. I contacted Citi and after an hour And a half was told that they needed 45 days to complete their investigation. They said at that time they would remove the charges and notify the credit bureau that it was due to fraud on the account. Did they do that? No...of course not! It's been 55 days...charges are still on the account, still effecting my credit score and after spending another 45 min on the phone...only to be told I needed to be transferred to the security dept ( I pressed to be connected to the fraud dept) they cut me off Again!!! Do not do business with them!!!! I guess my only recourse is to get an attorney, which I will begin looking into next week. read more
