I will never apply to Citibank for any sort of loan again after my recent problems with my co-op refinance. I have been a CitiGold checking and savings customer since 2004 and have an excellent credit rating. I applied to Citibank for a co-op mortgage refinance in August 2021. They were always very slow to respond to any of my requests for assistance and forced me to work on their very difficult online mortgage site. I cooperated in a timely and accurate fashion to all their requests. When we got to the very end of all the documents they requested, I was informed that they needed 2020 financials from my co-op board. My co-op management company has not completed their 2020 financials yet but offered Citibank their 2019 financials or an unaudited version of their 2020 financials. Citibank led me to believe that they might accept either of these alternatives, but in the end they cancelled my loan over a week ago without even giving me the courtesy of an email or some other confirming communication. My co-op management company assures me that they have had this sort of issue with owners' refinances in the past but the banks are usually much more reasonable and have accepted alternative documentation from them. I have spent countless hours, over $1,500 in Citibank application and appraisal fees and $700 in co-op management company fees - all wasted. I always assumed banks are in business to sell loans to their customers; I guess Citibank doesn't want my business. No problem - there are plenty of other banks who do want my business. Shame on you, Citibank. read more

Had 2 mortgages with them. Everything went fairly well. 4*'s I'd say. Until they sold the loans. Both of them, separately. So before going with them, ask yourself: What was the point of getting 1 mortgage company to handle both my loans when they're going to sell them to 2 different places? and If what you thought was a 4* Mortgage company ... then sells your 30-year loans to a 1* Mortgage company after 2-5 years (and you will have absolutely no say in this) ... what should their rating be? read more

I was reaching out to the Mortgage assistance team for information and was scheduled for a call back from Anthony Nagore García at 3:15 p.m. today. For whatever reason my phone did not ring. A voicemail appeared and I called Citi Mortgage immediately. After getting through the phone tree that took 5 minutes to reach an agent, at 3:20 p.m. an agent told me Anthony was no longer available. Anthony wrote a message that he was leaving. Really... I call right back and you are no longer available to help? This is the customer service you can expect from Citi. I updated this review because after escalating the situation to management. They made it right by giving me the information I needed. So I went from one star to two. read more

Every dealing I have with this institution results in them making a mistake. The latest fiasco of which I am a victim is a straight-forward re-finance to lock in on low interest rates. I went from CitiMortgage to CitiMortgage, with no cash in or out - as simple as you can get. But this company managed to screw it up, as is usual. (Google on "complaints CitiMortage" to see the kinds of things this company is capable of.) My overall summary comments are: - If you have an mortgage with Citi, carefully monitor your account. - CitiMortgage needs to improve internal tooling to be customer focused instead of specific loan account focused. - CitiMortgage needs to take ownership of their mistakes. Don't foist their problems on the customers. - CitiMortgage needs to be honest with the customers, and meet the commitments they make. Do not provide false names and contact numbers to the consumer. Call them back when you say you will and return phone messages left with managers. - When CitiMortgage makes a mistake - offer appropriate compensation for the mistake. For example: provide free credit check service for a year when CitiMortage has made a mess of that consumer's credit reports. Offer to convert their monthly mortgage to bi-weekly at no charge, to show good will. It can be a small effort, but it has big payoff in 'smoothing the feathers' of the victim. Will I return? Never again. (I didn't want to return this time, but I went thru a no-closing cost mortgage broker, so I didn't have a choice, darn-it.) Do I recommend? Absolutely not. Due to 5000 character limit on Yelp, I can't provide all the gory details, but the quick version goes something like this: 1) I refinance. 2) CitiMortgage makes a mistake, and pays off the *new* mortage, instead of the existing mortgage. 3) CitiMortgage starts harassing me for payments due on old mortgage. 4) I try several times to explain the situation, but am told essentially "we have no record of that, you owe us money. You need to go back to your title company and have them fix the problem. Pay us now". 5) *I* eventually figure out what's gone wrong, even though I am not the financial industry expert, and am able to ask the right probing questions to get this company on track to fix my problem. 6) They have consistantly screwed up, including having very old phone numbers for me, despite 3 loan applications being provided with the correct contact numbers, them having the correct e-mail address, the correct mailing address etc., which caused delays in them contacting me. (Why wouldn't they mail me, asking me to call to update my phone #s?) 7) The following month they apply the payment to the old loan, instead of new loan and start harrassing me for non-payment on new loan. 8) I have to pay my June payment a 2nd time - so now they have 2 payments for June from me - very stressful. When will I get my money back? 9) They have put credit reporting against my SSN, saying I am in a non-payment position. They have said this will all get fixed, but my confidence is low. 10) I eventually get most of my money back - 2 months later - but they have the wrong payoff date and have therefore over-charged me. After all I've been thru, I'm not willing to give them one more cent than I have to, so the fight continues. I am a fly on the ass of an elephant but darnit, I'm going to keep biting their butts. There is still much room for error on their part. If I can find a good place to post the complete and gory details, I will upate this post for anyone who is interested. read more

I was thinking that I should save my 666th review for a particularly evil business... but then I remembered that I've already reviewed Comcast!! So Citi Mortgage will be granted the dubious honor. We started off with Citi simply because they had a loan officer in the same office as our realtor. We stuck with them because I seriously couldn't find a bank or credit union that would give us a lower rate, or even lower fees, than what we got from Citi -- I was honestly surprised at that!! -- and that's all that keeps them above a 1-star-rating. But they have been a pain in the ass to deal with at every turn. Disorganized amateurs, with poor communication skills and no regard for schedules or need-dates. We've had to work with three different people all requesting documents (sometimes the same ones!) ... bank statements, cancelled checks, explanation letters, and more. It's not like they gave us a list of things they needed up front, oh no; that would have been too easy!! They'd request something, then email back a day or two later, and need another document, and then a day or two later, a signed and dated letter explaining them, and, as if they were powered by Energizer, this cycle just kept on going and going and going... it's not even like I have bad credit or anything, I swear! Somehow, after we gave them every document they could possibly want, the entire mortgage ended up contingent on our former landlord. First, they just needed his contact info, but, true to form, they eventually needed him to write a verification letter to Citi (even though we never missed a rent payment), but he's got no motivation to get it done and it delayed us from closing by a full week!! Thankfully, they eventually funded our mortgage, so I can finally take off the kid gloves and really let them know what I think through Yelp! read more

I've been trying to wait to do this until they finish my re-fi but I'm about to drop dead from frustration so here I am. I almost want them to cancel the process to put me out of my f'n misery. They have held my mortgage for YEARS and I did a re-fi with them two years ago which was honestly pretty effortless. When I wanted to do another one and consolidate I figured it would be easy...nope. It's been FROM HELL. The initial mortgage counselor screwed up and checked a box that said I was self employed which wreaks all kinds of havoc on the process. He's been asked to update it more times than I can count and I just found out today (3 months later) that he still hasn't done it. They've had to reach out to my employer multiple times which has been embarrassing and inconvenient. One time was because they couldn't figure out on my pay stub that my expenses were reimbursed even though it was clearly stated. I tested my 12 year old to explain my pay stub and HE could figure out that that was the difference between my annual salary and my pay check. No joke. At one point I called a different mortgage counselor because mine wasn't returning calls and the guy was nice, listened, and said he needed to talk to my processor to get more information and to please hold. He connected to her and then DUMPED the call. I didn't need to talk to her, I had been talking to her! Then I called back and asked for a Supervisor and wound up in "Customer Care" where I had to tell the story all over again only to be told that the process is the process. What's even more despicable is after I spent my work hours calling around for help the service got WORSE, it's like they know they've lost me and they don't care. I've kept my mouth shut but it's so horrible that the onus is on me to follow up weekly, each time they tell me the process is done something else pops up that pushes it back and NOBODY is ever held accountable to follow through, explain the process, anything. They're mindless drones that seriously could give a crap about their customers. In case you're wondering - my credit score is far above average, sufficient checking/savings is not an issue, I have more than $500K in equity in my house...it goes on and on. Basically, there's no risk with me and they know it. I've been with them for years and they JUST did this 2 years ago. They keep saying it's the rules and out of their control which is fine but rules don't equal crappy service, no communication, condescending attitudes, and zero accountability. If I wasn't almost done with this mess I'd bail in a heart beat and quite honestly I may still have to which will piss me off because my locked in rate has almost expired due to their inefficient processes. DO NOT use them for your mortgage needs, there's too much competition out there with people who will take care of you and deserve your business. I tried to go through their ranks to ask for help and they were horrible. If I could give negative stars I would! read more

Citi itself is good, it is their mortgage servicing company CELNAR that is horrible. I paid off my home equity loan completely in February by wire payment and they still have not filed a UCC lien release. Since the loan is paid off, you can not use their automated system because since the loan is paid off, it will not recognize the loan number. Their customer service is the worst. They keep you holding on the phone for 30 min and then drop the call. Their standard line is that they are "researching the issue". They have sent a number of letters apologizing for the delay but with no result. Their "Executive Resolution Specialist" Melvin Boskett promised to resolve the problem but did not follow through and was no help. Stay away from Citi Mortgage if they are going to have CELNAR administer the loan. read more

Problems at the tail end. 1. Lien release done to the wrong building in a different part of our city. 2. Archives their loans too early and cannot retrieve information related to payoff and proof my original docs were sent back. 3. Agents all kept twisting my words around on exactly what I needed. Not sure if anyone else experienced better. read more

No stars, unfortunately, is not available. Took 9 months AFTER CitiMortgage gave me a rate commitment! Cost me multiple opportunities to get a better rate elsewhere. CitiMortgage / Citibank they are one in the same. If I were you and you were considering doing business with these people I would run as fast in the other direction as fast as you can. 1) Even though we are in the year 2015 non of their reps can return your call. They don't have that ability nor can they email you anything concerning any correspondents. ( really, give me a break) 2) During a Bankruptcy and finding out that this mortgage was not reaffirmed even though my Attorney made several attempts according to him. All of their customer reps had assured me that I would have no problem refinancing my house one an reaffirmation was filed due to my outstanding payment history. In fact the reps assured me ones the account was reaffirmed all of my on time payments would be reported to the credit agencies. 3) A year has passed and I had the loan reaffirmed. Funny now, I am getting the run around and jerked around as always. Most reps are in the Philippines and you have to request to speak to someone in the United States. 4) I have been told that all the statements from their reps have been misleading and un-true, Sorry about that. 5) I have now been informed that they can not refinance me. Thanks for misleading me Citimortgage reps Great Job. read more

Citi makes it as difficult as possible to pay off your mortgage, or in my case, Home Equity Line. First, the only way you can get through to a human by phone (800-685-0935 for the Home Equity Department) is by pressing option 2 (open a NEW account). The person I finally spoke with did not speak clear English (make of that what you will). Next, the process to close includes weird steps where they want to fax you things and have you fax them back. Nobody has faxes anymore. So for me, it all has to happen by mail. And if they change their mind about the close amount after I bring them a check, I can expect another bill. And yes, as someone already pointed out - $80 in fees just to end it all. Last time, I swear. read more

I had a nightmare experience dealing with them during our refi to another bank and didn't want to write the review until the ordeal was over. They sent us our release of lien and the county was incorrect on the paperwork. They are in the midwest somewhere and the first rep I got told me that even tho the county was incorrect "it would get to the right place". I was like...what a bs answer. I freakin blew a gasket when she told me that and she had the nerve to give me an attitude after I challenged her. she put me on a forever hold and I eventually hung up and called my new mortgage company's closing dept and verified that of course what she said was a lie and the document needed to be edited with the correct county and refiled in the correct county. I called and got another nicer and more knowledgeable rep whom got me over to fulfillment. They doublechecked the correct county with me. I was assured that I would get the new release in a week or so. A month goes by and no release. I call again and they have NO RECORD that I had called and requested this. Man, these reps...I mean it's not their house so they don't care. This third time I did get the paperwork in a week with the correct county. I was glad to be done with them. read more

I had a mortgage in 1985 that was paid in 1999. Citibank never sent the lien release to the county. I sold the house3 months ago and have had nothing but problems getting them to send the correct lien release. It's been 2 + months and they keep saying they are working on it. I am going to lose the sale of the house because of them. There is no way it should take this long. I can't even talk to a real person because they won't give me a phone number and the one listed on the site is useless. I have to correspond by email. read more

When you pay off your CitiMortgage loan, brace yourself for FEES FEES FEES! They added two fees, a processing fee and a transaction fee, to the payoff amount. Then, they charged $25 to return MY OWN MONEY (Escrow Balance) to me. They've held money of mine, in escrow, for over a decade, haven't paid me a cent in interest, then have the nerve to charge me another fee?! Well done, Citi. My loan was serviced by CitiMortgage for roughly 2 years before I refi'ed again last month following a drop in mortgage rates. During that time, I never had any problems. Autopay went through each month like clockwork. Escrow recalculations were done annually and calculated correctly. Property taxes were paid on time. The annual 1098s were delivered within the first week of the new year. I called them a grand total of once, to address a situation that arose from my correspondent lender miscalculating my escrow reserves (they sold the servicing rights to Citi right after closing). Citi responded in writing to my request within a week and took care of everything. Frankly I got better service from Citi, supposedly an evil big bank, than I did from my previous mortgage servicer - a local credit union. If you pay your bills on time, you won't have any issues. read more

DO NOT take a Home Equity Loan / Mortgage from Citibank. They will turn it over to Cenlar (Central Loan Administration and Reporting) and they are crooks! My mother had a Home Equity Loan which she never drew from. She died, and we sold her house. During the sale, the escrow company contacted Cenlar for a payoff, which they provided (payoff was only for processing fees). Cenlar was paid off, and escrow closed, and I cancelled homeowners insurance. After that, Cenlar returned the payoff amount, and demanded we provide proof of homeowner's insurance - on a house we no longer owned! I sent death certificates, Trust certificates multiple times. It took months to get them to acknowledge me as "successor in interest", and only after I filed a complaint with the Office of the Controller of the Currency, the regulatory agency. In the meantime Cenlar force-placed very expensive insurance. It has taken 6 months to finally get the loan closed and the insurance cancelled. They will only be refunding a portion of the insurance, not the whole amount, although I still have not received the refund. To top it off, I just received a letter that Cenlar tried to debit another payment from my mother's account which I closed months ago so now they want a NSF fee. Trying to take another payment after acknowledging receiving payoff and that the loan is closed!! What a nightmare they are!!! read more

BEWARE of Citi Miles Ahead program !!!! Received an offer in the mail from Citi in Cleveland, Ohio to open a $10,000 savings account for 2 months and I would receive 20,000 American Airlines bonus miles. A lot of small print attached to this and it still took 6 months to get it done: 2 months were gone and I contacted customer service many times as my 20,000 miles never were added to my account. They said it would be another month on my billing cycle to clear. So I waited for the 90th. day and called again. I was told it can take anywhere from up to as many as 60 days to do the final process. Finally, 5 months from my open account I received my 20.000 bonus miles. So, being very upset waiting 5 months and being led to believe it would only take around 3 months total, I decided to close my savings account. I called and requested the account to be closed and was told it would take 7-10 days to received my $10,000 back to me. After 2 weeks I called and was told it was never recorded and she would close it for me . After all I been through, I didn't know if I should believe her or not. Absolutely terrible customer service during this whole transaction. I finally got my initial $10,000 back in exactly 6 months with interest $4.65. Do NOT refinance your mortgage with Citibank!! I did a refinance through Citibank on Nov 2020. After closing I received a check from them, so I called my Mortgage Officer to find out what it was for because it came with no instructions or explanation. She went over the Title Co final closing document with me line by line to make sure that money was taken out for property taxes for 2020 and 5 mos escrow was taken out for 2021. She said the check I got was whatever was leftover in my escrow account after everything was paid. I didn't even know Cenlar was going to take over the mortgage until I got a notice about it a few months after closing. But the notice saying they took over my mortgage had no mention of an escrow shortage at the time. A year later in Nov 2021, I got a notice from Cenlar that said I had an escrow shortage of $4500. I was told that I had to pay it all within 30 days or they'd increase my monthly mortgage payment by $350. I called Citibank and they blamed the mistake on Cenlar sending me the final Title Co. document that I had gone over with the Mtg Officer a year prior. I sent it to Cenlar and they said I still owed $4500, that Citibank neglected to transfer the funds from my previous escrow account at closing. All I got from Citibank after 2 mos of asking questions was..."Oops we made a mistake and now you have to pay that escrow shortage that we forgot to send to Cenlar." No apology. No accepting any responsibility. And I have no recourse. STAY AWAY FROM CITIBANK!! read more

Dealing with Citi Mortgage is an unpleasant experience. I was told I had to wait three days to receive an email because the email was waiting in a queue. As a landlord in New York needing a simple letter from them, I was dismayed that they needed two days to confirm they received my fax (their preferred means of communication), a week or so to write an email, and then an extra three days to hit send because it was in a queue. Before dealing with Citi Mortgage, I had never been exposed to a three-day-long email queue. All requests for them to take action resulted in the following: they read me the boilerplate policy repeatedly. My phone calls were answered in the Philippines. I asked to speak to someone in the US, and was told their counterparts in the US were closed (at 1:48PM Eastern Time). I was told their was no supervisor available, neither in the Philippines nor the US. If you want to deal with a company that outsources your call so that they cannot help resolve the symptoms of their inefficient system, then I recommend Citi Mortgage. read more

I am registered nurse and I work 3 jobs, one of which is hospice is not a 8-5 only job. My husband has been with this company for 18 years and had paid our Citibank Mortgage on time since the early 2000s. We were sent many mailings to refinance our home. We took the bait and called them. They made many promises to lower our rate by $100 dollars per month. After 30 days, everything became a problem. Like other commentators here, I also had to submit multiple documents. Many were strange request such as why I had a PO Box back in 1990. They also asked for a new document every other day. We were finally approved after I kept calling to find out if we were going to close on time. My calls were never returned in a timely manner and many things were always uncertain on Citi's part. We were sent an approval notice yesterday, and now we are no longer approved today. It has been this way for the last week. Our loan was sold during the refinance on November 3, so we were told not to make a payment to the new company or the final payoff would change. So we did not make November's payment. Now Citi is using the excuse that the underwriters deem us a risk because we are now 30 days past due on a new mortgage we were told by both companies not to pay. This has been a complete waste of time that I do not have in the first place. I lost $250 in the process with fees. My advice to you, stay away from Citi unless you like broken promises, and constant disappointment! read more

I worked with Citimortgage for 12 years fell on hard times needed a loan modification had the worst experience with the so-called counselor that your assigned too: he was not patient, they lost my documents, didn't know that the documents were lost until two months later. they continued asking for documents that they lost. Once I discovered that they lost the documents two months had passed. I was so burned out in dealing with them i almost gave up and I believe that it was what they wanted. I cannot tell you how many times they closed my cases because it takes time to get critical documents for a loan modification. The service i received was so unprofessional I filed a complaint with which escalated my file to some other department and the situation just got worse. Had to start all over again and was told that the loan is begin sold. At this time I had been dealing with this loan modification for 8 months already no decisions in 8 months. By the time it was getting closer to having the loan transfer they lied and told me repeatedly that the new services will pick up the loan from where they left off which was a flat out lie. I had to start the process all over again. By the end it worked out it took more than a year its unfortunate due to incompetence of Citimortgage and their lack of character and lack of integrity. read more

Beware. CitiMortage transferred my mortgage to a questionable lender ('Mr. Cooper'), giving only a few days notice. Huge headache: no bills or electronic web access. Only a P.O. address was provided. I first thought this was a scam. It's based on an amateurishly written letter that looks like a phishing attempt. They may be going out of business and you may get stuck with a potentially predatory lender that reportedly caused problems with escrow, did not perform tax and insurance payments form escrow, caused liens on properties and insurances dropping owner as a customer, and seemed to 'loose' checks in order to build up late charges and ruin credit scores as a result. CitiMortgage does not seem to care, after years of an event-free loan. They respond by generic phrases written in bad English. Sad. read more

In February 2017, I went to a Citibank branch to apply for a HELOC as my third lien. The loan officer and his manager who helped me were Rajindra L Kumarage (Raj) and Brenda McRae. I informed them I currently have a mortgage with Nationstar Mortgage and a HELOC with HSBC I signed on October 2015 that has a clause I may not close it within 3 years during the withdrawal period. If I closed it sooner, I would get charged an early termination penalty. I told them I didn't want to close it early to avoid the early termination penalty. I would use the Citibank HELOC to pay off my HSBC HELOC and keep it open with zero balance. Raj said that he understood and not to worry about it. He said I could keep my first HELOC with HSBC open as inactive till the end of the withdrawal period. So, I agreed to submit the HELOC application with Citibank on 2/17/17. I filled out the application asking for $150K HELOC. Raj submitted my application on the spot and spoke with the loan processor on the phone and approved me for $130K HELOC which I accepted. After sending a lot of documents back and forth, six weeks later I received the approval letter and loan agreement (AZTECH) for $75K although my financial information did not change from the day I submitted my application. I wrote an email to Raj asking why the amount was changed and he contacted the loan processor. Two weeks later, the loan processor, Ashley E. Mcmillan, approved me for $100K. I agreed to it and she sent out the updated approval letter and AZTECH. I received the approval letter dated 4/11/17 and three AZTECHs I needed to sign and have my Co-op board sign as well. My co-op building, 5 West 14th Owners Corp, requires a $350 application fee for HELOCs application. I submitted the HELOC application with the $350 application fee to my co-op. I got them signed and gave the signed AZTECHs to Raj. This was supposedly the last step before scheduling the closing. However, Ashley kept asking me for more documents, one at a time. I had provided all the required documents that she requested prior to the issuance of the approval letter and AZTECH which took about two months. If they weren't sufficient, she should have requested prior to issuing the approval letter and AZTECH. On 5/8/17, she said the proprietary lease I had provided was incomplete. Shouldn't she review it at the beginning of the process? Then, she requested for the original which I don't have (finally, she was okay with just the copy). On 5/9, she said my mortgage loan number didn't show the entire number; Clearly she never reviewed my documents I had submitted before. On 5/10, she still said my proprietary lease was incomplete. I finally got the complete one and sent it to Ashley. On 5/15 Ashley requested another thing. She asked me to sign a document allowing Citibank to request a payoff statement from HSBC and close the account. I refused to close it as I already told Raj and his manager the first day I applied for the HELOC. They assured me it would not be a problem and I could keep my HSBC HELOC open as inactive with zero balance. On 5/19 Ashley emailed me to inform me that my HELOC application was denied. I have spent my time, energy, and frustration for more than three months to keep up with their never-ending requests and paid a $350 application fee to my co-op only to be denied even after they issued the approval letter and AZTECH. Citibank failed to disclose that I MUST pay off and close my first HELOC with HSBC. Neither the approval letter nor the loan agreement (AZTECH) said that I MUST pay off and close my HSBC HELOC as one of the requirements. Citibank mistreated my application while finding "excuses" to deny my application after more than three months playing with my emotion, time, energy, and money. This is entirely unacceptable and I am completely dissatisfied with this situation. I want Citibank to at least reimburse me the HELOC application fee of $350.00 I had paid to my CoOp. read more

After waiting for 6 months for a refinance to close with multiple resends and complications , I received yet another "good faith" estimate with entirely different rates and charges with no letter of explanation. The rates jumped from 3.7 to 5.5 and the charges went from $4000 to $7000. Check out other reviews on this company and stay away from it. read more

We just recently refinanced our mortgage with Citi and the process couldn't of been smoother!! We were advised right up front what documents were needed, we provided and we were able to track the whole process on line. From start to finish, it was approx. 6 weeks with no glitches! My husband and I couldn't be more pleased and would recommend Citi to family and friends! read more

The worst experience EVER. Strung us along for 5 months, until we finally said enough. Went with another company. Got the same rate, for less points, in 7 weeks. Citi was like dealing with a 3-ring circus. read more

This company is STINKS!! We just refinanced and are now stuck with Citi. They did away with their policy for bi-weekly payments which would save us TONS on interest!! Their customer service is great if you like speaking to people with accents that you cannot understand! They only got once star because that is their minimum! read more

Citi mortgage has to be a joke... I've sent several emails to your code.violation and pres.escalations department even including pictures. This place has been vacant for many years and has become an eye sore to our neighborhood. Your maintenance to the property stopped over a year ago. The place has been set fire by the neighbor hood kids twice. Your roofing company that was sent left all the woodwork and trash in the front lawn back in 2017. The place is just ridiculous. There's been an assault at the location and 2 attempts of rape at the location. I've personally notified your company if this back in 2016 and nothing has been done as of yet. You've had 2 set of squatters move in that i forced out myself. It's become a neighborhood skip house for the middle school kids and the rodents in the location are dangerous for me and my neighbors little toddlers. I hesitated to do a review on your company but I'm simply pissed on how long it's taken you all to get out and rectify this place. Search your emails for the 33142 Miami Fl emails read more

If you have a mortgage with Citi, good for you. The online payment process, statements, etc., are easy to work with and excellent. If you ever want to refinance, forget it. I have had a mortgage with Citi for several years with all on-time payments, with added principal paid off every month. I have two credit cards with payments always on time, and a high credit rating. Each week I receive a new trivial task for them to postpone making my refinance happening. Probably because I've locked in at a super-low rate that is more than a point lower than current rates. It's been more than 90 days! Ridiculous! read more

Started refi process in April 2016 since Citi has held my current mortgage for 7 years. Was told I would get a $500 closing credit and 1/8 point off new loan. Well, while Elisha (who initiated the loan) was responsive, the loan processor and underwriter were not. 70+ emails with Citi, 3 calls to customer service, multiple unanswered call to managers all went unanswered or were not helpful. I repeatedly asked for a new loan processor and underwriter because refi was taking too long. 90 days later I was waiting for a clear to close - 2 weeks went by and again NOTHING was done. Finally spoke to a manager who told me I have a new processor and underwriter because the others were let go, however because 90 days have passed, my credit was repulled (without my knowledge or authorization) my rate changed and I had to start the process all over again. I had already paid for an appraisal and credit check. Was told IN WRITING I would receive a refund but it never happened. Absolutely terrible experience. Should your refi require any escalation you will hit a brick wall as managers do not follow through. I will gladly share all 70+ emails with anyone who wants to see them. I have since refI'd with GMH mortgage successfully and within 1 month with no issue. read more

I was recently appointed administrator of my sisters estate, unfortunately she had a CITI mortgage. I have been in contact with them from the start assuring them that I would send payoff as soon as I was appointed Administrator, and they assured my that they would not forclose in between. Once I had the court date, I called them for an updated payoff and they sent me a payoff good til the end of that month, with instructions to call the day I was paying to get a exact amount for that date. As soon as I was appointed Administrator, I transfered the money and called them For exact amount and instructions for the wire transfer, they informed me that the home was in foreclosure and I can't pay it off and I should contact the forclose lawyer. I have been dealing with them now for 2 weeks and they are as bad as CITI with their lies and unreturned calls and I am still trying to payoff loan. Do not die with a CITI mortgage, they have no compassion and they will try to steal your house, read more
