During a recent trip to the Rio Grande Valley, I had two Seiko watches that I decided to present as…read moregifts. However, both watches needed batteries. In addition, the band for one of the watches needed to be resized. Since I am not from the area, I decided to first try Zales Outlet that I discovered (via a Google search) to be located at the Mercedes Premium Outlets in Mercedes, Texas. Since neither of these watches were sold at Zales (and the company does not carry Seiko), I was concerned that the store wouldn't even consider working on them. However, I thought that it was worth a chance to swing by the store. After all, I have always had good experiences at Zales jewelry stores for things like battery replacements for finer watches. The store is located in the Mercedes Premium Outlets shopping center. This is a surprisingly nice set of stores located just off of I-2/Hwy 83 in Mercedes, Texas. It was very easy to find parking nearby the entrance to the shopping center near the store. The store itself is very clean. It is located as a corner store in the outlet mall -- across from Brooks Brothers and Pandora. It is caddy-corner from the Gap Factory store. The best part of this store was the customer service. It was attentive, friendly and highly professional. I was immediately greeted by several employees. I asked about battery replacement and resizing/adjustment for Seiko watches. I was immediately told that they would as well as the cost of each service. In fact, I found the quote to be quite low and relatively inexpensive! Two of the women immediately worked on the watches. Opening a watch can often be a cantankerous ordeal (because different watchmakers use different designs for accomplishing this). However, the two women worked together and replaced the batteries very quickly. In addition, the woman who adjusted the watchband was very patient. It had to be adjusted four times -- and she did this with a gentle and authentic smile. I checked the timing of both watches before leaving. They were working well. I was very pleased with my experience at this Zales Outlet. Not only did I receive exemplary customer service, I listened to one of the other employees assist a set of customers with a jewelry selection. He was not pushy (in trying to obtain a commission from a sale). Rather, he carefully listened to what they were looking for and did his best to help them. They were very happy with his assistance too. The next time that I visit the Rio Grande Valley, I would like to return to this Zales Outlet. The store is amazing! They offer very nice items at remarkable prices. Moreover, the customer service is much better than I expected. This is the type of customer service that one expects at a very high-end jewelry store that charges exorbitant prices. Yet, Zales offers remarkable watches, jewelry and services at even more remarkably budget-friendly prices. Thank you, Zales Outlet in Mercedes!
