My experience here started out great but kept going downhill after I was diagnosed with cancer and…read morethe hematologist I'd been seeing there turned into my oncologist. I ended up leaving AHN and switching to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center because I just couldn't handle the oncologist's attitude any longer. Everything about my treatment was her way or no way. I had no say in my healthcare at all. She also seemed to get annoyed if asked a question. When first diagnosed, I asked her what the prognosis was for stomach cancer. I got a lecture on how she's had a lot of patients older than me that got through it just fine. That wasn't what I asked, though. I had to go home and Google. FYI, stomach cancer has a 30% survival rate because it's usually caught too late. Luckily, that wasn't the case with me. When I was first diagnosed, my gastroenterologist told me I needed to see an oncology surgeon, so I made an appointment with one. When I saw my oncologist, she told me to see some doctor she's apparently friends with. When I told her I already had an appointment with an oncology surgeon, she got mad and literally made me sit there and wait while she texted her doctor friend to tell him I wouldn't be seeing him! How rude! I'm glad I switched, though, because it seems as though the Hillman Cancer Center is a lot more up to date than the AHN Cancer Institute at Forbes. My oncologist there did a (can't remember the name of the test) DNA test. The tumor was tested for its DNA, then my blood sample was tested to see if there was any of the tumor's DNA in the blood. Negative is good & means the cancer most likely won't return. Positive is bad and means it will. They don't do that at AHN Forbes. I gave two stars instead of one because the rest of the staff are really nice.

Children's East is a great resource for those of us with children who don't want to haul them into…read morethe main Lawrenceville campus for every little thing! There seem to be a dozen outpatient services available here. I made sure to take note of the Children's Express Care, which is open Monday-Friday 5-9pm, Saturday 12-8pm, and Sunday 10am-6pm. However, the reason for our visit was x-rays for our daughter. Originally, we were going to have to do an ultrasound for her, which is appointment only, but it was changed to x-rays instead. The good news about that is the x-rays can be done as a walk-in procedure. The hours are Monday-Friday 8am-12pm and 1-9pm, Saturday 12-8pm, and Sunday 10-6pm. Even though we had some issues with the prescription being faxed over from our pediatrician's office, we were still in and out of the office very quickly, in under an hour, I believe. I definitely plan on coming back in the future, especially to use the Children's Express Care next time my daughter is sick at night or on the weekend.

I have been going to Icare for years. the lady at the front desk is wonderful, unfortunately the…read moremedical professional (supposedly) I saw today was less than stellar. I know what is wrong with me and I know what medication works for me. she insisted on doing a Covid flu swab even though I have NO symptoms of that. however I allowed it because she said otherwise I couldn't be treated. when that came back negative she wouldn't prescribe augmentin which is the only thing that works for my sinus infections, stating that they had been flagged for writing too many antibiotic prescriptions. HOW ISTHAT MY FAULT? when I told her amoxicillin doesn't work for me she then stated she didn't think I had an infection at all. then WHY BOTHER SWABBING ME AND WRITING A PRESCRIPTION FOR AMOXICILLIN? she got very condescending and talked down to me. I will not be returning nor will any of my family members.

This was the second trip in two days. The day before we were seen right away. Today a whole…read moredifferent story, one I was compelled to write. I totally understand the rush Emergency Room people must feel in a busy day, morning, afternoon BUT sometimes you just have to wonder if they really give a "crap"about the people that come through the door. The receptionist was pleasant and took our information quickly. We didn't even sit and the unfriendly Triage Nurse came to get us. I think she maybe a very good nurse but her personally as a front contact person SUCKS!! We arrived at 9:30 am The waiting area at 10 am was a handful of people then around 11 when we finally got called into the ER it was full no seats at all people where sitting in wheel chairs. The ER resident was very friendly, helpful and answered all my questions and calmed my concerns. We were told that there are no beds in the hospital that everyone in ER is on hold. Every room was occupied. By the time we were released to go home they had filled both hall ways with parents treating them in the hallway. Busy hospital busy time of year - a lot of older people over 70 seating and waiting. Upmc East needs a big ER and another hospital wing. I am seriously considering changing health care insurance for another hospital. How do you know your getting the right kind of care with an over crowded hospital ? I really like the ER staff !! They did a good job considering.
