My first impression of Circuit Doctors was a good one, the woman that answered the phone was very pleasant, kind and understanding and I arranged a time for her husband Dave to come out and quote the job. I had just purchased this home and the washer / dryer hookups were not working and I also wanted to have two light fixtures installed. The quote fee was $219 which I was made aware of beforehand and I accepted. The quote however took me by complete surprise. I was quoted $4640. As this was my first home and my first time ever needing an electrician I wasn't sure if this was a reasonable quote. When he told me the first availability he had to complete the job was in 2 weeks I told him I'd sit on it and get a few more quotes as I was also hoping to have this completed sooner. Immediately he said he could do the light installs today and come back next Wednesday to complete the wiring for the washer / dryer. This was definitely an "ask your dads opinion moment" but unfortunately I couldn't get a hold of my dad to see if this quote was fair and reasonable and I regrettably signed the quote and paid a 50% deposit ($2320) giving him the go ahead to begin the job. He began on the light fixtures when my realtor called as I had text him asking for his opinion because again this is my first home and I was starting to get overwhelmed at the cost of repairs. My realtor suggested having him complete the light installs and getting a second opinion on the wiring for the washer / dryer. When I went to talk to Dave about pausing on the washer / dryer wiring as I felt a little overwhelmed at the cost his demeanor completely changed and he became short with me saying "you signed the paperwork I'm now contracted to do this job" and "you can't get your money back" I explained to him that I wasn't seeking a full refund but I wanted to see an itemized breakdown of the jobs as I would gladly pay him for the light installation but wanted to pause and get a second opinion on the washer / dryer situation. He had not yet given me a copy of what I had signed and he seemed irritated that I was asking. He gave me the paperwork but the breakdown was not itemized (see photo attached) What started off as a pleasant interaction suddenly got super uncomfortable as I started trying to explain that I was very frustrated that I was having not only this issue with my new house but other issues and it was all very stressful and overwhelming and he made remarks like "that's not my problem" I wasn't approaching him in a confrontational way and I explained to him I'm not saying this is your problem I'm trying to give you customer context as to why I'm apprehensive about moving forward. As a small business owner myself I hope I never make anyone feel how Dave made me feel. Yes I signed his quote but within minutes I was questioning my decision and he showed absolutely no understanding or empathy for how stressed and overwhelmed I was. I left him to continue to do his thing with the light fixtures as I just wanted him to hurry up and leave as this whole interaction was very uncomfortable. I went to my basement to hang out with my dogs and noticed on my ring app he had closed the shutters to my upstairs camera. The whole thing was very bizarre. He was in my house for roughly 6.5 hours installing two light fixtures and although they look great I felt uncomfortable having him return. I called the following day again asking for an itemized breakdown so I can see what portion was for the lighting (that he had completed) and was portion was for the washer / dryer (that had not been completed) I was given the run around saying he doesn't do itemized quotes and he uses a "proprietary system" and quotes by units and not by parts and labor. I ultimately cancelled the remainder of the job, took the loss on whatever I'd overpaid in the 50% deposit because again I have no idea how much the light install really was and I will never call this company again. read more

ZERO Tolerance for Nonsense!!! I really try to support small business owners but this one had me speechless. I should have checked the reviews on Yelp posted by Jarrod in 2021 before I called Circuit Doctor in Waldorf!! What a waste of time, Dave walked into my home and charged an evaluation fee of $219 and of course it was simply walked around the house counting my electrical outlets. NOT ONE TIME, did he open the electrical outlets or circuit box. Of course, I paid the bogus fee of $219 but that is the last $219 that will come from our home. Then he tells me it will be $12,000 TO REPLACE all the electrical outlets in my home. I was born at night but not LAST NIGHT! Nothing good will come of these people who take advantage of people. I guess they wanted me to pay for their summer vacation for $12,000. BYE BYE! ! read more

If you want to pay $65 for Dave to "knock on your door" and then another $300+ for him to take 45 seconds (would have been shorter had he not dropped 3 screws holding the circuit breaker panel door in) to tell you what you already know, this is the business for you! $1500 to install a plug in the garage that's 20 feet away from the circuit breaker box... Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. read more

Quality work and great communication! We have used Circuit Doctors now for 3 projects. Each time, we consistently received great service. Circuit Doctors clearly explained what to expect during the initial call (listened to what we wanted to do, scheduled a time to come out and provide an estimate when we would be home, and let us know they could roll the service fee into our total if we ended up using their services). Dave, the master electrician, is a true professional. We never felt like we were being pressured to hire Circuit Doctors or to have unneeded work performed. Dave took time to answer our questions and explain different options so we could decide what worked best for us and our budget. Used this company based off web reviews. It appears this company began using a new appointment scheduling system and was unable to show up as scheduled. No big deal things happen. I called the number and the electrician's schedule manager explained she had called both my wife and I and was unable to reach either of us to confirm appointment. My wife responded to the text reminder to confirm and the schedule manager confirmed she did indeed responded and she missed it on her end. Electrician showed up much later than expected gave me an estimate, but I declined the service as it was more expensive than my budget allowed. He explained the work that needed to be done...I responded "really" surprisingly and he remarked how do you propose you do it? I informed him this is why I sought his expertise.... awkward They still charged me the full service visit fee of $65 and offered an apology. Total visit was less than 10 Minutes, spent more time resubmitting my debit card to charge me for the visit. They do not allow you to pay through the PayPal app. If I should require such service in the future I will use another company. read more

This started out as ideal...started. The owners wife answers the phone call and sets an appt. and gave us a window when her husband the owner would come out and prefaced it by---he may be able to come earlier... cool! Day of service my husband called early to inform them we would be out but will be there at the scheduled window time. She said her husband may be later than the window time because a job he was on got difficult. Ok no prob BUT the vendor arrives and I answer the doorbell from my phone and told him we were two minutes away and the dude left. If I'm to wait in the scheduled window and listen to he may be late then why couldn't he wait 2 minutes. That was a guaranteed $65.00 if he took the job or not! But it's 2020 so expected! I feel for the wife because she was accommodating, the husband said thru the doorbell mic that my appt was at 4, but you got there at 4:30...and I was really two minutes away. read more
