Me and my wife recently hired Joseph to be our wedding photographer recently. We did a small…read morewedding at the SF City Hall with just a couple of our friends - pretty much a wedding ceremony. So, the photos were supposed the main event and most important part of our wedding. Obviously, we went to City Hall to get the grand photos, but we also wanted to do something a bit different. Researching City Hall photographers, we went through a lot of them - and while most take really nice photos, if you go through them together one after the other, it all starts to feel the same. We wanted ours to stand out. That's when we came across Joseph's website. The minute we looked at it, we knew we had found our person - don't take my word for it, just check it out. His photos are beautiful, unique, and very artistic. He has an eye to catch those special moments between couples that immortalize them. Joseph is one of the best out there, and you will be lucky to get him because he's so busy during wedding season. Despite this, he was very communicative since before we hired him, all the way up to our wedding. I highly recommend talking with him over a phone call, he will put you at ease for your special day, and you can discuss what you are looking for. He connects with you which makes the experience all the more pleasant. Soo, the reason we went with him specifically was because we wanted something different and artistic - and while that can be a bit risky, he is the photographer for that. We planned to do the shoot at two locations, first at City Hall, and the second in North Beach area. On the day of, we were a bit stressed and feeling the pressure. The minute Joseph arrived, he was able to lighten up the mood, cracking jokes and created a fun, stress-free environment to relax us. You can tell he has attended a lot of weddings, haha. After that, things went really smoothly - he is quite familiar with City Hall, and knows how to take the good shots. He was able to get us all the stand out shots - the grand staircase, the elevator, the stairs, and the fourth floor. And the photos came out amazing! He did candid shots, elegant shots, grand shots etc. One thing I noticed is, lots of photographers are able to do close ups well, but struggle with wide angles - Joseph was able to do wide angles expertly, which is important for a venue like City Hall. When going to the second location, we had planned to do a shoot at a specific location but it was crowded so we had to improvise, and ended up taking photos in the street. This is where Joseph really shined - he was able to use the streets, graffiti, and the environment to take some extremely beautiful photos. And oh-my-god, those photos came out AMAZING!!! He made us look like movie stars, the photos were cinematic! We are so happy with our photos, we have been looking at them every weekend since getting married. What I will say about the price is you will be paying a decent amount if you get any good photographer, and Joseph will look cheap when you understand what you are getting - he is definitely worth what he charges and more. More importantly, the advice I would give you is this - I know Joseph can and will get you the shots you want, but I highly recommend giving him a free hand and trust his artistic vision and his eye, you will not be disappointed! And feel free to express yourself and make things interesting - he is very open to trying out new ideas. Joseph made our vision come true, and captured our wedding day beautifully - he made it memorable for us, which I feel is what every couple wants. For us, he is going to be the one capturing all our special moments going forward, so I hope you see the trust we place in him as a testament to his skill, vision and character. I cannot recommend him enough, just get him without thinking twice, you will not regret it! Graham is very responsive and easy to work with. The day of our June 2021 wedding, Graham showed up on time and got right to work. You hardly even know he's there, which is exactly what we wanted from a videographer. He films "documentary style" and gets all the parts of the day that are such a blur to the bride and groom. My favorite thing about his style is the interviews he does with the bride and groom separately and the interviews he does with guests. The actual "highlight" video she made was perfect -- we've watched it a hundred times and will probably watch it a hundred more. Undoubtedly one of the best investments we spent on our wedding day -- a memory we'll really want to have forever. We had to adjust our timeline during the reception, including pausing photos and adding speeches, and he kept everything flowing naturally without awkward downtime. He also perfectly coordinated our unique sequence of dances with the DJ, making every transition feel seamless. DJ Otis: We didn't know who our DJ would be until the wedding day, and we were thrilled it was Otis! He absolutely nailed the music all night. The dance floor stayed packed until 11 PM because he knew exactly how to read the crowd. He mixed current hits with 70s-90s favorites that kept both younger guests and the older Vietnamese crowd dancing. The glow sticks and light-up glasses were a huge hit, and the energy never dropped. Day-of Coordinator Carina: Carina was incredible. She was warm, personable, and unbelievably organized. I thought my planning documents were detailed, but hers were even more thorough! She made me feel completely at ease leading up to the wedding and even drove to Pleasanton to run our rehearsal (an add-on that was absolutely worth it). Multiple vendors and family members commented on how efficient and organized she was. Photography & Videography: Our package included an engagement shoot plus two photographers and two videographers. Sam photographed both our engagement session and wedding, and his work was beautiful. We chose his light and airy editing style, and our engagement photos turned out amazing. On the wedding day, Sam and Christine were fantastic. They captured every moment while making us feel comfortable. One thing I'll never forget was how Sam noticed we hadn't had a moment to ourselves because of nonstop photos. I had a very positive experience working with TDE. It was easy to schedule a free consultation,…read morewhere we first spoke with Otis, and could ask many questions up front before deciding to move forward. Otis was kind with great attention to detail from the start. Ultimately, we decided with the glam package and our contract was very clear to understand with cost breakdown for removal of specific services / add-ons. I updated it many times with Jessica, our planner, as we made changes throughout the months, and she was always so patient and clear. Our MC Otis did a wonderful job with maintaining flow of the program. Otis was also working as DJ for a good portion of the evening, so props to him! We had closer to an hour compared to 1.5 hours of open dancing because we were behind schedule, but everybody was on the dance floor and he kept the party going seamlessly. Weddings are hectic and there are so many moving parts; we did get behind schedule but we were still able to do everything we wanted to do. Our photo & video services were set to end, but Otis was very professional in discussing with us if we wanted to extend our video services, communicative on additional cost, at the moment. Our photographer, Ben, along with the team Stanford and videographer, Christina, were so fun to work with. Ben was great at providing direction, which is especially helpful since we were not used to posing. I have not received photo & video yet as it has only been a week, but from an experience standpoint, they were attentive to detail, communicative, and glided effortlessly through the event. My makeup artist, Vivi, is the sweetest person. She was super attentive to detail and my particular skin type. I was worried about makeup because I don't wear heavy makeup often. I ended up paying for a make-up trial, and I was so happy working with Vivi that I had no worries for the wedding day. We also added-on make up for our mothers, which Vivi did the morning of. The reception decor turned out so pretty! Everything was set-up as scheduled. I was really happy with the welcome backdrop and name sign. It was also great to take pictures with guests with the backdrop since we had time during cocktail hour. We asked TDE to incorporate a large screen as the backdrop of our sweetheart table, so we found an example from a previous wedding they did, and it turned out exactly as expected. We added the photo-booth, which was so popular with the guests! There were so many cool props and our guests were having tons of fun with it. I also sent TDE a custom drawing that I wanted for the photo strips- and it turned out just like I imagined. We chose Grand Dynasty as our reception venue, and TDE communicated set-up details with our restaurant event manager, Esmond, in the days leading up to the event.
