The Circle Tap is exactly what you would expect from a local, hole-in-the wall bar. There was quite a crowd there last night as Iowa fans watched the Rutgers/Iowa basketball game. It appeared that the patrons were a tight group of people who visit regularly. Don't walk in expecting luxury. It is a tap. Bar food abounds and the drinks are well-priced. We shared a full rack of ribs and still went home with leftovers. The ribs were delicious and tender. The fries were crispy, just like I like them. The coleslaw was creamy and sweet. Presentation was interesting. It was served directly on a cafeteria style tray, so don't walk in expecting fine china. Parking was a bit of an issue...especially because there has been so much ice this year. I would definitely go back again to enjoy the ribs. read more

My boyfriend absolutely loves this place and has raved about it ever since we met. When I lived in the quad cities, I had heard about it but was never able to make it there. We went there with some of his friends when we were in town and all of them were so excited! I was skeptical. Very very skeptical. I was afraid I would be disappointed because all I had heard was people talk it up. One thing I was surprised at is that it is not quite as much of a hole in the wall as I expected. Sure, if it is your first time there with no one else who knows what they are doing, ordering is about impossible to figure out. I had to get the ribs and got the quarter rack with potato salad. My ribs actually came on a plate while all the guys orders (half and full racks with French fries) came on serving trays. The ribs fell right of the bone. To be honest though, I liked the potato salad over the ribs. Don't get me wrong, the ribs were good but I have had better. I know I will be going back again as this is one of my boyfriends favorite places to eat in the QCA. read more

Circle Tap is a must stop when you are in the Quad Cities! I have been to Circle Tap on numerous occasions and always walked out pleased. Just about everything offered here provides a great experience. Recently, I purchased 3 racks of their famous ribs, and wow, these do not disappoint! The meat was so tender it was falling off the bone, and their sauce is divine. They were smoked to perfection and are without a doubt some of the best ribs I have ever had in my life! Not only does Circle Tap offer fabulous food, to further improve your visit, its service is top-notch--superb. Immediately once you walk in, you are greeted by a staff member with a smile and made to feel right at home. I have never felt unwelcome here and always feel like I belong here. The only downfall I think this establishment has is the appearance, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Both the interior and exterior are slightly dated and appear a bit run down. However, I do recognize that this may be part of the vibe that they are comfortable with. I hope to return in the summer so I can see their giant updated patio that I have heard so many people rave about! From the roughly circular bar whose scarred edges bear names of patrons throughout the decades, to their huge updated patio, to the eclectic assortment of patrons I've observed on both visits, it's just fantastic. It's a bar. They make food. The daily deal when I went was burger baskets for $3.50. Not bad... but it's an additional $1.75 for a (not particularly generous) cup of soda at the bar... The food is good overall, but not necessarily "special"... although everyday has a different special. You go to the window in the back room to order your food. I could imagine this place on a weekend being quite busy... during the week at lunchtime, it's quiet. read more

Recommended as the best place in town for ribs. And that might be true: the ribs are yummy n juicy. However, the location is something to get used to and the way the food was presented was, let's call it "interesting". First off, this is a true "hole in the wall" bar, Not a fine dining restaurant. That is not necessarily bad, but also not what I had expected, and not a place I would bring kids to. Second, there were no plates. The ribs were served straight on a tray. The fries came in a basket. I don't know how easy or difficult it is to truly clean those trays, but I am pretty sure you don't run them through a dish washer. Anyways, if a dive bar is your thing I will recommend this place because of the fantastic ribs. If you look for anything else but beer and ribs, or a family friendly location, this is not your place to go. read more

I love the circle! The atmosphere and bartenders are great! They have great drink specials and karaoke on Fridays. I've have been told they have some of the best ribs in town but always seem to get there just as the kitchen is closing (usually 9pm). I would recommend this place to anyone, the crowd in this place is pretty well mixed and the music is good. read more

The bartender Stacey is amazing. She tells it like it is. This was my first visit but it won't be my last. She recommended the rack of ribs with a side of fried pickles because I was vegan. Both were amazing. The rack was nice! I will be back. Like the movie Deadpool, I would not recommend bringing children. If you like honest unhealthy food and drinks at a bargain price in a fun environment, this is the place for you. read more

This place is primarily a bar, and also a place I had successfully avoided for decades. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control I ended up here twice in a 3 week period of time recently. Nothing has changed, it's still a dump with poor service and even worse food. First visit I had their vaunted ribs; they were OK, you get better at a chain such as Famous Dave's and much much better at Jim's Rib Haven across the river. Second time had a bacon cheese burger and cheese fries. Hands down worst burger I've ever had in my life; like a hockey puck in both flavor and consistency. Clearly a frozen, pre formed burger that they buy in bulk; disgusting. The cheese fries? Fries sprinkled with cheddar that they nuked in the microwave on the same STYROFOAM plate they served them on. The whole pile of fries was stuck to the plate as the cheese was hard. No creamy queso type cheese here; again disgusting. As a bonus I woke up later that night with stomach cramps and diarrhea; thanks Circle Tap! read more

Have been here quite a few times for the ribs,which are fantastic. Tonight however I ordered the breaded tenderloin sandwich with french fries. BIG MISTAKE the tenderloin tasted like grease no real tenderloin flavor and the fries were limp and tasteless. Guess I should have stayed with the ribs. I just don't get why people like these ribs. They are mediocre at best. Not nearly as good as Famous Dave's or many other rib eateries in the Quad Cities. I guess it's a local thing. If you grew up in the Quad Cities, you'll probably like boiled ribs. If you're from anywhere else, you'll be disappointed. I only go there when I'm dragged by coworkers for an after work event. We took a group of about twenty people to the circle tap one evening and I would say I am less than impressed. The bartender was some meathead tool wearing a shirt three sizes too small and acted like he gave two craps about us being there. I would have to say that the lady in the kitchen was quite fast with delivering our food. So, that is a plus. I'm not sure what the big deal is about their ribs, though. I'm from the south so I'm probably a little biased but they were just ok, not great. I don't recommend this place, at all. I guess if you're a local and it's what you're used to than it would be alright. read more

Yeah. Their ribs are solid. They are saucy ribs though, not the dry kind. And this place does get busy, so plan accordingly. The wait for ribs can get quite long but it is well worth the wait. It has a no frills atmosphere with papertowel on the tables for napkins. The bar is a circle shape, hence Circle Tap, and very inviting. I love the county music that is usually playing and gets everyone dancing. The crowd is definitely a younger crowd mixed with regulars. When we are back in the QC, this is our "go to" place for ribs. If it is good meaty ribs you want and really good fries served on a tray then you have arrived here. It takes a while for the ribs so get your order in right away and have a beer while you wait. The ribs are meaty and cooked well - I would prefer a spicier sauce - a little too sweet for me but the ribs are so good I can overlook a so so sauce. Food is good. Parking is terrible when it's busy. Use to go fairly often and it gets really busy at night, so busy it was hard to get drinks sometimes. Got to know the bartender Andrea... she was awesome, got me drinks lightning fast! She doesn't bartend there now, so there's really no reason for me to have to push my way through a drunken crowd to get an overpriced can of beer. May have to go back sometime to try these ribs everyone seems to rave about. read more

You'd never guess but this little bar has fantastic ribs! Don't expect table service though- you must go up to the window (in one of the little rooms off the main area) to order. And when you get fries, there are definitely enough to share with a friend. read more

It was great!!! Me and a couple of fighters from the dojo came here about 12 years ago and got into a tussle with some refs and kind made a name for ourselves so we frequented this place yearly. We're talking at least twice a year!! It was epic! I know we went there at least once in may and also once in December for a little "calm me down" before Christmas, Hanukkah, or whatever. But recently a fellow name Kyle or Kylie has been working there so we don't frequent as often. Maybe once a year if that. Anyway I was there the other night and drank 16 Long Island Iced Teabags... hahahahhahaha jk it was Long Island Iced Teas and I wasn't even that bad but this bartender took my keys and wouldn't let me drive. So not only was I p.o.'d but I couldn't even get home to let out the doggies!! Luckily I was with my girlfriends sisters nephews niece and she let me stay at her daughters girlfriends boyfriends moms place. My friend went there one night and he pee'd his pants!
