I visit the Circle K store that comprises this Esso station regularly. I'm probably there once a…read moreweek. I backroad my commute home from work along Steeles Avenue West and East, and drop by this store for snacks and drinks. Last night, I needed to fill my car up with gas. I also had a digital $2 coupon to use towards a gas fill-up. I dropped by for my snacks and drinks ritual, along with fuelling my car at this Esso station. There were three other customers using the gas pumps at this station. I had no problem finding one. Paying at the pump is straightforward. The challenge can be pre-paying for gas, especially when you have a coupon that you can only present in-store. Some gas pumps state that you must go inside to arrange pre-paying for gas. The ones at this Esso are more lenient. You fuel you car first and then go inside Circle K to pay. I like the convenience and trust. I filled my car's gas tank, and then went inside the store to redeem my gas coupon, along with two other coupons for snacks and a drink. The gas pump had clear instructions. The area was clean. No complaints. I am a regular. The male staffer behind the counter recognized me. It's good having established such a relationship. I redeemed all three coupons ($2 off gas, BOGO on peanuts, and a free Joker drink) on my phone. Scanning everything went well. I then scanned the PC Optimum barcode from my phone, and paid with a credit card. Done! The man wished me a great evening. I reciprocated and headed to my car to continue my commute home. It's roughly a five-minute drive north of Hillcrest Mall. This store is a part of an Esso station. It has a touchless car wash, a vacuum, and a Tim Hortons with a drive-thru. Parking is interesting. There is one spot to the left of the store for a driver with an accessibility permit. On the right are two garage doors. Two cars were parked in front of each door. There are parking spots across from the gas station by the car wash. I backed into a spot and walked over. The Timmy's is a part of the store, next to the Circle K cashout area. Timmy's was pretty busy with customers. I had no problem finding beverages. I got two bottles of Diet Pepsi and a berry Gatorade Zero. I waited in line. There was a woman leaving Timmy's who was pleasant. She was carrying a lot of goodies. I asked if she needed help getting out of the store. She was fine and thanked me for offering to help. On the contrary, I opened the door for a young Chinese female going into the store who did not say thank you. I said, "You're welcome." Our eyes met. I figured out that her brother was the kid twirling around in the Timmy's line. It runs in the family. Ugh. Our eyes met again when they both left the store after me. I let her know that she had poor manners. I also stared her down when she was in the backseat of her mom's car leaving the gas station. Fun in Richmond Hill! Quite the contrast. I'm not your personal door person. I was carrying drinks and still managed to open the door for you. I was being nice. I didn't have to be kind to you. The LEAST you could do is say thanks. Instead, you acted like a privileged teen. I digress. I do feel better venting. Back to my review... The man at the checkout was super nice. He said hi. He asked me how I was doing. I was great then. I got my drinks scanned. I also scanned my PC Optimum barcode and paid with a credit card. Done! I thanked him. He wished me a great evening. I reciprocated. My berry Gatorade zero hit the spot. It was my first time trying it. I liked it. I'd return to this store when I'm in the area again. Customer service was great and I got the drinks that I needed. The carwash is awesome. Touch-less and except for the back of the van gets the cars clean. I try to use this feature every time I fill up in the winter. There can be huge lines so timing can be important. I never eat or drink at these places. so I cant speak to that. But if you need some chips or a hot coffee this place has got that for you. Lastly, I like the EasyPay system. no fuss no muss. Shell's system works really well, including things like the car wash. Just don't loose the FOB. Now... should we start a complaint around this ethanol as additive? 10% added? this is a sham. At least shell tells you the percentage of each grade of fuel.

She was somewhat surprised. Once discovered, I opted not to take any more "indoor pics" since employees can get into trouble if they don't tow the company line and tell you to stop taking photos; head office policy. Sounds like a policy drafted when my Betamax video player was the envy of my friends.

On the southeast corner of Major Mac and Donald Cousens Parkway is this Pioneer gas station. A tidbit of information: Donald Cousens was the former Mayor of Markham. He held that position from 1994 till 2006. My parents liked him. I did, too, although I caught the beginning and end of his mayoral tenure. Naming this parkway after him was a nice touch. The gas price was cheaper than the posted price at a nearby Esso station by four cents a litre. I frequent the Circle K there. I immediately made a left turn to fill my car's gas tank here. There were a few customers pumping gas. I found an available gas pump. The problem was that I couldn't pay for gas at the pump. It was the case with all pumps that day. Luckily, the option to pay inside the store was available, so I did just that. I was at pump 8. When I was done, I walked into the convenience store. It's huge. It was nice to browse a bit before paying. There's a mini Country Style area. You can get coffee, slushies, hot chocolate, and more. There was a sign that said donuts, but I didn't see any in the display case. I love crullers from Country Style. Sadly, I didn't see any in the display case. I got a helpful man at the payment area. I said that I had gas to pay for at pump 8. I got my Journie barcode scanned for the first time. Husky got bought out by Journie at least a year ago, so I got my Husky rewards transferred over to Journie. I then paid with a credit card. Done! I thanked the man after he gave me my receipt. I headed to my car and continued my drive home. If you want cheap gas in the northeastern part of Markham, come here. It was an unexpected, pleasant find. Is this how the free market works?? Yesterday way passed midnight when all the other gas stations had their prices at 108.9 and they still keeping theirs at 99.9?! That's just so amazing. New gas stations with new pumps and love their paypass options right at the pumps. A quick tap 1 second later, I am ready to put in my gas. It was cold yesterday! I was driving along the latter and turned right into the Esso gas station. This Circle K is a part of it. I had no problem finding a parking spot in front of the store. I backed my car into an available spot and walked in. You see a Tim Hortons on the left when you walk in. It was doing steady business at around 8 pm. The Froster selection was decent. I was able to choose from eight flavours. I ultimately got a small orange Crush Lite and Mountain Dew Spark Froster. The Polar Pop machine also had an impressive assortment of flavours. It's a good store for beverages, including bottled and canned ones. I also got a package of peanuts. Free items make me happy. I had a nice man at the counter who helped me scan my coupons. Done! Staff are friendly and efficient with your request inside the store.

This is a typical gas station that is at a southeast corner of Major McKenzie and McCowan. They have 4 grades of gas and also diesel. We came to this gas station because it was 5 to 7 cents cheaper than most gas stations in a 15 km radius. Actually there is an Esso a major block south that has the same price but that was out of our way. Tip: I use the "GasBuddy" app to find cheaper gas. The station was bright and clean. It has windshield squeegee using water (wasn't soapy water). There is a touchless car wash and it must be popular because there was a lineup of 8 cars at 8:00 pm on a Sun. I spotted this Petro-Canada and dropped by. I have visited this location for a number of years. I never have had a problem filling up here. There is always a free pump for me to use. The area is clean. All is well. I didn't have a chance to walk into the convenient store. It looked pretty busy, as I saw a number of folks park in front of it, go in, and come out. This location has a car wash. I typically don't use it, as the rollers produce swirl marks that are noticeable, especially on dark-coloured cars. I'm a hand-wand person who likes getting a workout as my car gets washed. (424)

In my opinion, the gas tanks have been positioned in the wrong direction; you have to make a hard left or a hard right within the parking lot to line up with the tanks when you should be able to drive straight in. The store is well stocked. The rote questions that all Petro-Can staff ask--"Would you like (miserable) coffee with that?"--are a little tiresome, but I frequent these gas stations because my store card gives me two cents off per litre.
