Tip: Collect Journie points towards discounts and free goods…read more This Pioneer gas station used to be Husky. It will take a while for all Husky gas stations to convert to Pioneer ones. I have always liked fuelling my car here. This gas station is located on the northwest corner of Highway 7 and North Rivermede Road. It's across the street for a McDonald's restaurant that I like. Both are on the quieter side of the intersection. The southern part is where Centre Street starts. On Friday, I was heading to Mississauga. The low fuel indicator on my dashboard lit up. I remembered this gas station on my route. I had 24 km left before my gas tank would run empty. When you're driving westbound on Highway 7, you can either turn right at North Rivermede Road and do a left u-turn, followed by a right turn to get to this Pioneer. Alternatively, you can drive past the intersection and hang a right. I did the former. This station is always clean. I was at pump 7, which also has diesel. I entered my phone number associated with my Journie points. I then tapped my credit card and began fuelling my car. I let it automatically do it as I planned the next phase of installing my Sirium XM antenna. To make a long story much shorter, the car dealership gave my car a complimentary wash after servicing. The rollers took out my antenna. I got a replacement. Before I left home, I mounted my antenna to the back part of my car's roof and fed the cable under the weather seal of my trunk. I connected it to my satellite receiver to test the audio and reception. It was great! After I was done filling up my car's gas tank with fuel, I drove over to the parking area just behind the convenience store and seated the antenna cable under the weather seal, and then fed the cable behind the backseat. I then connected the antenna to my receiver again. I still need to finish running the cable under the carpet. The cable is 23 feet long and there's a LOT of slack. At least the cable isn't dangling down by back windshield! I'd guess that there are roughly six parking spots. I liked that I could work on running this cable and no one cared. It was nice. I have yet to visit the convenience store. I haven't had a need to go, but I should check it out someday. This visit got me 300 Aeroplan miles. I convert my Journie rewards to Aeroplan miles automatically. I now have 7 cents off per litre the next time I fuel at any Pioneer. Yay! I like saving on gas. Pioneer with its Journie points has a decent program going on, especially these days. There are some weekends that Journie does ten cents off each litre of gas that you pump into your vehicle. It's great. It feels like you're getting away with murder. It was great stopping by to attend to my car running on almost empty and my working on my antenna side project. (179)

Yesterday, I passed by this Petro-Canada gas station while running errands. The gas price was…read moreslightly cheaper than the other gas stations in the vicinity. I flagged dropping by to fill up my car after I was done visiting a store nearby. It was doing steady business when I got here. There must have been eight pumps and I snagged the last one that was free. It had diesel fuel along with unleaded that I needed. Since I had recently returned from the States, I had put away my Petro-Canada rewards card. Luckily, it didn't take long for me to find it. I had no problem inserting my rewards card at the pump first. I then inserted my 407 ETR discount card, followed by my credit card. The pump was ready and did its thing thanks to the kickstand on the pump itself. This station was clean. I threw out some garbage in my car while fuelling my car. All was great. I got my receipt once I was done. I got into my car and applied hand sanitizer. What soured my experience was a guy in a red Jeep. He was impatient and obviously in a hurry. He saw me get into my car, so he lined up right behind me. I was applying hand sanitizer. He honked at me and put his high beam lights on. Seriously? What a jerk! I honked back. He honked again. I honked back for a full five seconds. He stopped. First, if you want to get into a honking match, I have all the time in the world to reciprocate. Second, I have so much patience in the world that I will stay at this pump even longer, just to irritate you more. High beams don't bug me. I am so used to driving at night with inconsiderate drivers who don't turn off their high beams when approaching my car. Be my guest. I don't tolerate immaturity and rudeness. If it were my dad in this situation, would this young jerk do the same thing to an older driver, or was he targeting a woman just for kicks? Maybe he's consistent and is rude to everyone because he's simply a jerk. It was a shame that this guy drove a Jeep. Most owners are nice. He deviated from the norm, giving Jeep owners and perhaps young men a bad rap. Other than this incident, which I hope was an anomaly, I'd drop by this gas station again. I hope that Jeep jerk doesn't return when I'm there. Honkfest will resurface and I will retain my crown. You can count on it. (452)
