At least I would imagine they are packed at some point because people go through that stuff quick! The rows are tightly packed together, and the shelves are tightly packed with assorted goodies: pork rinds, lechon sauce, salty crisps and sweet treats, hot chocolate mix, toiletries - you name it, chances are you can find it here. Manila Convenience Store reminds me of those times. Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly, remembers your name, and what you like. They'll set a couple aside for you if you mention it's your favorite. They'll patiently listen to your out-of-practice Tagalog. A couple of times a week, they'll get fresh baked goods in. I'll undo a week's worth of sit-ups for fresh sapin-sapin covered in toasted coconut. Stop here for snacks and then Willow Park Wine & Spirits for San Miguel, and you'll have all the things you need for a Pacquiao Fight-Night party. Even frozen banana leaves to thaw out and place on the table, for extra fanciness! If the steep prices at the few Calgary Filipino restaurants have deterred you, you can pick up Filipino delicacies in one of the many freezers at Manila Convenience; to re-heat and try out at home. This store has double charged me more than five times in the last month and a half…read more I gave them a statement printed directly from my bank and they claim it is fake and I am a liar, so I went to the bank again and had them put a stamp on a second copy and I am waiting to hear back from them. This makes me sad as I have been going to this store everyday for the last three years and I have no idea how far back these charges go. I suggest to anyone who has shopped there, check your bank statements and purchase history! Ask for receipts every time!

They have a decent candy & snack selection along with some juices, pops, etc., and they recently added some slurpee machines. (Well, "Frozen Drinks" machines, but even the cashier at Cirlcle K the other week called the froster I was buying a slurpee, so the post-it note on the machine here is referring to the style/kind of drink the machine makes.) I won't be commenting on the standalone business itself as I didn't really browse their offerings (maybe next time). Instead I will comment on the Post Office itself. This location has all the usual necessities: stamps, boxes, money orders, forms, guides and passport apps. So really no complaints, it's a functional post office with shipping services and yup they take debit and credit. Despite me saying I didn't browse the store, I did note that they did have some greeting cards which is a smart idea. Both times I've been there it didn't take long to get service despite the store employee managing both the store and post office registers. He was friendly and professional both times. So if you're in this neck of the woods it's good to know that there is a secret post office hidden in the Southland Crossing Shopping Centre, may save you from making a trip to a further post office (this is the plaza with the Safeway FYI). My biggest knock against this location is that the signage is awful! Honestly the only reason I know about it is because I had a parcel sent here when I wasn't at home to pick it up. Not only that, but there's a 7-Eleven app that can get you lots of rewards just for being a local customer to the franchise. Sure, it's not the place to go for lunch or dinner, but it's the best place to go for when you need to make a quick stop on a road trip. The only downside is the lack of a bathroom.
