The staff is nice. They sell gas and snacks, which is convenient. Maybe that's why it's called a convenience store... hmmm......

Champy's Famous Fried Chicken

This is some really good fried chicken. Great skin, super fresh, moist, all the things. We split…read morethe 3 piece dark meal with fries, and it hit the spot. I had a nice, crispy diet coke. We had the hot tamales to start, which were pretty good as well. The atmosphere is very kid friendly, and service was good. They've got a full bar. I'm not normally all the way out in Alabaster like this, but would definitely come here again.

Only concern was I asked for Champy's sauce with the tender basket, looked at it in the parking lot and noticed it looked like their honey mustard instead. Tried it, confirmed it tasted like honey mustard, then went inside with my receipt asking for it to be switched for Champy's sauce. Spoke to a waitress (not the one who helped us at drive thru) and I explained that I wanted Champy's sauce. She said "uh huh" confused and I held up what I had saying it tasted like honey mustard. She said yes Champy's sauce is honey mustard based. I told her I've been to (and worked as a teenager) at Champy's before in Tennessee and the color was more yellow than the orange I'm used to (like they added too much honey mustard) and again it tasted exactly like honey mustard. She explained that the Champy's sauce (and red heat) recipe was different at their location. I took her answer and left. Not sure if I indeed had honey mustard (they come in the same containers) and she didn't want to double check or if their Champy's sauce recipe really is just primarily honey mustard. I think the people of Alabama are missing out though on the champys sauce from the original location in Chattanooga, not sure why there is so much variation between locations. Other than that, everything was great!

Had to try a Milos as we drove through Birmingham. We drink bottled Milos tea daily, and though we…read moreknow that's now a separate company, it's still fun to visit the small local chains like Milos. Clearly set up just for drive through, though there is a front door that allows for counter service and access to a bathroom. Inside of the place, from the counter, to kitchen, to bathroom is pretty dingy. Outside, it's a simple box, inside it's a dive. Fries are good. Wife got the classic thin burger, sauce on the side. She's a bbq fanatic, so liked the sauce, particularly with the fries. I got the thick burger. It came loaded with onions, which made it particularly tasty, and it was a little sloppy with the ketchup and mustard. Staff were particularly friendly. Glad to have stopped at a Milos. Recommend to anyone what likes to explore regional fast food. Wouldn't go out of my way for a second stop, but would still see as a good alternative to the big chains when in the area.

The person at the window told me after I paid that they just ran out of peach pies, and she offered a replacement or asked if I was willing to wait. I told her the replacement would be fine. The manager came to the window and apologized for not having the peach pie that I asked for, but said there was a huge order a few cars ahead of me that wiped her out. She then offered a shake for not having what I asked for when I wanted it. Her name is Irene, and I was shocked. I haven't experienced that kind of customer service in over a decade. Irene and her team, and A-1! I couldn't go without mentioning her willingness to make sure I had a memorable experience. Thank you, Irene, and thank you, Milo's for finding one of the "great ones."
