Finally we found a Japanese store we like! The main reason we went was for the Chu-Hi and they have some sake including yuzu sake. We bought some candy, gums, yakisoba, and tonkotsu ramen. I went over to Circle Japan to get my sesame dressing in a large bottle which I can't find in normal grocery stores that big except in a gallon size for restaurants at a different Asian market. I want to point out that I only know of two pure Japanese grocery stores in Jacksonville, but I could be wrong. but the other is Ibizu. it is also on beach Boulevard and while a much larger store, I feel the prices are much higher and more touristy. Please come out and support the wonderful Tomoko who runs the store. She is always extremely gracious and thankful to have customers come by. Let's help her day go by quicker with some more business. I adore this hidden gem. Authentic Japanese store. They have frozen sushi meat, ramen to some great Japanese candy. The owner is always polite and helpful. We get some staples from here but it is always fun to look around and try a new sake or soda they have. Such a wonderful welcoming atmosphere. Super clean too. My husband and I stopped by this great little store. The owner was super friendly and helpful. The prices were reasonable. It was a little tight fit. We didn't eat at the cafe but the food and drinks we bought in the grocery store was delicious. One of the cutest things I've seen was the little kids area so parents could shop without kids continually saying "can I have that?" Transported to Japan as soon as I walk in. Fresh and frozen items galore. She makes fresh bread on Saturday but you have to get there early before it sales out! I just love this shop. It carries many cool items. Japanese owned, Japanese items. Tomoko, I believe she is the owner, is super duper friendly, so pleasant and helpful. Just her demeanor alone and being inside this shop makes me feel like I'm in Japan. I can listen to her talk all day...even if it's to the point she is cussing me out in Japanese telling me to leave because I've been there for hours. I was so excited finally I came to this small nice Japanese super market. I am surprised Circle Japan does have lots of good sakes, like Kubota Manju and Dasai 23 Junmai. Usually I have to special order from internet, and now I can find them here in Japan Circle, how convenient! The store has a small area for kids to watch Japanese cartoon, some toys and books. I like the idea, at least can keep kids little busy while going grocery shopping. Next to the sake display area, you can find used Japanese books. If you can read Japanese, you may have chance to find some easy comics books to have some fun, or books are pretty old fashion from various categories. I read people's comments on Yelp, many people said Circle Japan is little pricy. After went to visit, I think the price is reasonable. If you compare the Asian markets in Jacksonville, FL or Savannah, GA, there is really nothing to complain about! For me, coming here is like visiting heaven. I picked some stupid snacks only for the weekend I could enjoy some Japanese taste at home. However, next time I will have a shopping list ready when I come! read more

Ok, going to be a long one. This place is special. We come here from time to time to stock up on Japanese products that CANNOT be found anywhere else. The owner is a nice Japanese lady who has been growing this place from the ground up for years. All products are made in Japan except for some of the beers and the chu-hi that are produced in Canada and the USA (legal licensing stuff). Yes Chu-Hi! It is a soft drink that is 6.5% alcohol. They have had it for years, in Japan, well before White Claw and other stuff popped up in the states. Huge sake selection, even plum wine with the plums on the bottom (must eat, is where the booze lives ). Cold black coffee in the can, assorted miso soups, curry's, candy's, green teas, rice, etc. Price? Pricey. However, you get what you pay for. Japan is not a cheap place to live, and its a long way to import the goods! If you have ever lived in Japan, have a Japanese family member or friend you must tell them about this place. They will forever be in your debt . read more

LOVE THIS STORE!! If you are not familiar with Japanese food or drinks, don't be afraid to go in and ask questions. This store is clean and very well stocked. The staff is so awesome, super friendly and accommodating. They carry all kinda of premade food and snacks, drinks and toys even cooking items. My kids love anime and bought an anime cookbook to make things they have seen in shows. Circle Japan had ALL the ingredients needed, I looked all over, no other store carried everything we needed. It seems that they now have freshly baked an pan (bread with red bean paste inside), chocolate buns, and pigs in blankets on Saturdays as well. Hooray! I came here a few weeks ago and got some awesome Japanese stuff for the freezer: ready-made gyoza (although they do sell the dough so you can make it yourself), bite-sized mochi ice cream (comes in a variety pack of green tea, chocolate, and vanilla), and milk tea popsicle. When I came here this past weekend, there was a small gathering of Japanese customers drinking Japanese lattes and chatting. I ordered a green tea latte, which came with a cappuccino-style froth on top. Creamy and surprisingly good. I've never heard of green tea with milk. Tasty! read more

This is the most adorable and authentic Japanese shop! The owner is amazingly sweet and the shop is stocked with everything Japanese that you need! There's a small play area for kids with a tv playing Japanese cartoons. They have books, chopsticks, and tea accessories. All sorts of fun Japanese tchotchkes like erasers, character bells to attach to bags, chopsticks, beauty/bath products, frozen and refrigerated goods, a great variety of snacks and candies, and sake! Also you can order coffee/tea and pastries when available. The kind owner was fun to talk to and she even gave me a delicious red bean bun! Everything is "so Japan" in here! The hours are different than what YELP lists however, so save yourself the mistake as I made getting here too early on a Friday. I attached a photo of the hours. Wow a city that has a real Japanese Market - sweet! We were excited to come to JAX as Charleston does not have a Japanese Market. When I first walked in I knew I was in for a treat when I saw they had Chu Hi. They have them in a bottle which in my opinion are the best tasting Chu Hi's outside of Japan. We found so many fun things to take home. The owner was back home visiting Japan but left here husband to run things. He was super friendly and helpful. They have not only dry goods but also frozen items from Japan. Of course the prices reflect the fact they had to be shipped all the way to JAX but hey allot cheaper than a plane ticket! It was like being in Japan at a Family Mart with all the cool items to buy. I was impressed with the variety of items offered. I clearly see why this small, yet copious, Japanese Market was rated 5-Stars overall! I have been in this shopping center/strip many times before, however, I never knew this gem of a place was tucked away in the corner. You really cannot see it from the street, especially their store name because a tree hangs done in front and partially covers their store name. The first thing I noticed when entering the store was a play areas to the left for children. It had small tables, chairs, toys and playing on the TV was a Japanese children's show! The Japanese culture is so humble and caring, that instead of using the extra space for additional aisles of food in order to make more money, they think about the needs of their customers by ensuring they can shop without distractions. Very family oriented store. The second thing I noticed when walking in, is the cleanliness and organization of the store. As small as this store is (square footage), they have a pretty large variety of items, and I feel it's mainly due to the layout and organization of the store. They have hand-carry shopping baskets but no shopping carts that you push, and I see why. The shelf food looked and smelled fresh and nothing seemed outdated. They even have a freezer full of seafood you wouldn't see in other Asian stores. They have a nice sized, gender neutral bathroom that was so clean, it smelled like it had just been cleaned with bleach. It was so nice to see and hear my mom finally communicate in her native language since moving to Jacksonville with me. Of course, this is mom's new favorite "Asian" food market so we will be back frequently. So glad I found this place on Google, but my mom is even happier I found this place! read more

This is the cutest little Japanese grocery store I've ever seen. I have a few Asian stores that I go to routinely but this one is truly centered around Japanese culture specifically. I've traveled to Japan in the past and have a few favorite foods that I absolutely loved. Specifically, I've been searching for Mochi ice cream forever and found it at the store. They have food, candy, beverages, as well as a freezer and frozen section. There's a small play area your children can play while you're shopping in the store. If you get there shortly after the store opens they do sell fresh baked Treats but unfortunately I have been unable to partake in them because they're always run out before I get there. The owner of the store is very sweet. I was looking for a specific candy in the store but they did not have it. She did however, help me look for some other things in the store. If you are looking for anything authentic Japanese be it food, household items, books, or anything else consider this place. I highly recommend it and I plan to return. The only downside is that this is a smaller store and there are a few items that I still can I find there specifically the Kit Kats in green tea flavor. read more

What a cute little shop! The owner is also super friendly. My niece and I came in to check it out and browsed for a good 30 minutes. During that time, a few customers came and went- all of which knew exactly what they wanted. The shop is small, but there is a lot of items. From snacks to sake and everything in between. The prices are actually very reasonable and slightly cheaper than the bigger Asian markets I have been to. Next time, I will pick up a few more items that I would like to try. It's a small Japanese convenient store that also has a play corner for kids. I pretty much buy all of my ingredients for Asian dishes in this store. Most importantly... the Honey Butter Potato chips can be found here, but are also rare for they go out fast. The store owner is also very friendly. Plus, it's right next to the OMG cafe so you can get a boba drink AND some Japanese junk food. Hurray! read more

My friend told me about this place so I had to check it out. I also wanted to try the red bean buns that are made fresh daily. It was a little hard to find this place since it's located at the very end of a strip plaza with a tree partially blocking the front. The place is small but well organized. It also smelled clean and did not have that typical scent you would smell like in other Asian grocery stores. To the left is a little play area for kids to keep busy. Along the wall on the right side are plenty of books from Japan. They carry various Japanese products that you would not find in other Asian markets and the prices here seem much cheaper. You'll find items such as rice, seasonings, snacks, soups, drinks, candy and a variety of sake just to name a few. They also have a refrigerated and frozen section towards the back. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. I will definitely visit again but next time come a little earlier so I don't miss out on the amazing red bean buns I keep hearing about. You snooze, you lose. She took her time chatting with my six year old and even came from behind the counter to give him a hug! We were able to get Japanese books, magazines, candy and toys!!! I adore this little place. The owners are some of the sweetest people you're likely to find in Jacksonville. The selection is awesome too, and full of things you won't find anywhere else in town. The floor plan is pretty small, but it's absolutely brimming with Japanese goods. If you look to the right when you walk in, they have a little tower of sake. The selection on the shelves here is likely the best in town, but if you're looking for something specific they can order it for you as well. Continuing on, you have a large selection of dry goods and spices. Rice, tea, noodles, curry etc. I really like the curry selection. Publix carries some S&B curry packs, but you can get better ones imported from Japan here. The frozen food selection is good. They have seafood, dumplings, and my guilty pleasure which is gyudon. There's a good selection of Japanese beer in the back cooler, as well as some chilled sake. Around the corner from there is a huge selection of sweets, oil, dressings etc. If you come on the weekends they have fresh baked bread with red bean filling. The buns were still hot the last time I stopped by, which was a really nice surprise. read more
