On my first visit I submitted a request for a special order item and have not received a reply or acknowledgment, On second visit, I was interested in a revolver that was for sale on their website. Although the revolver was displayed and I was able to handle it, the salesperson said it was not for sale. When I brought up a screenshot of same revolver on the McQueeneyGunShop website she denied they had a website!! The website lists their phone number and address!! I sent an email to their contact person on their website and never received a reply back. There seems to be some sort of scam going on with this situation. Luckily I found a small proprietor run gun store in New Bruenfels that was a great experience and I made some orders through him. I've shot each of the rifles ranging from a 257 Roberts to 300 Weatherby and 338 Winchester Magnum and each one met or exceeded their guarantee. Even the 338 WInchester shot much better than any rifle that powerful has a right to shoot! Matt Bettersworth is the single most knowledgeable person I have ever met regarding rifles. If he tells you something, he's probably right! I can't imagine why anyone would not be very satisfied with their service. Every business has a "bad day" once in awhile where everything goes wrong at once, but I honestly can't imagine HCR not making it right. They are good people with an extremely talented group of gunsmiths.

IME, it is best to get work done after the hunting rush. Wait times get worse the closer you get to fall. Apr through Jul is usually best. I had a pistol Cajunized in the busy season and it took a little over a month. I took one in during mid-Spring, dropped it off at 11, and had it done same day by 4:30. The DA/SA are so much lighter and crisper. I have Cajunized one myself, so I know what is involved. It is surprisingly hard to find gunsmiths with experience Cajunizing, or with CZs in general. I guess it makes sense, they are far less common than Glocks, M&Ps, etc. I have had smiths tell me they do not work on CZs, or they say "we can do that, we'll figure it out," which is not comforting. Each time I came in, the associate at the counter brought me to talk to a gunsmith. He knew the order the parts go back in, that some jobs like the mag release are easier when everything is already apart, and that you have to remove the front sight pin to replace the barrel bushing. The sear cage is a nightmare to get back together, so I'm happy to outsource it. It's clear they do a bunch of them here, so it takes less time than me installing it or a smith doing it for the first time.

The bearded man behind the counter simply said "No" and not a single other word. Came in another time looking for ammo and when I asked about certain ammo types and if they carried them the same man seem quite annoyed that I was even there. The prices are high and the custom service is mediocre as well as they are only open some of the time. Can't say I recommend.
