I spoke with the Director of Circa HK, Mrs. Rosemary Leung, initially she was very open in appraising my watch which I got 3 months prior my Van Cleef was bought at 227,000 HKD and she appraised the following watch for 70,000 HKD. Her tone was very rude and condescending. Very disappointed with service if you are a reseller company, try not to give attitude it look better for long term relationship. Circa was a wonderful experience. The time came when I gave my daughters some of my jewelry and I was moving to Assisted Living and it was the moment to sell the rest. I made an appointment with Circa. The appraisers who worked with me were professional and courteous. Most of my jewelry was from Bvlgari and they listened as I told the story of why and where I brought each piece. It was a lovely reminiscence and I enjoyed the process to my surprise. I wasn't sure that I would really leave the same day with such a generous appraisal and check. I thought they might have to mail it because it was a large check. I went to CIRCA on 11/20/15 with a pair of diamond earrings and a vintage gold Movado watch. I previously had the earrings independently appraised, unbeknownst to the Circa jeweler. The earrings were a total of 5 carats in diamonds in white gold. They were appraised, in writing, at $23,000. I was offered $1,800 at Circa. The watch is currently in a bidding war on eBay, last bid was $2,700. Circa offered me $300. You do the math. read more

I have had the pleasure of doing business with Circa in Boca Raton and their Representative Harold Beardsle. Not only was the experience above what I had expected. But the information and communication in regards to the gemstones and pieces I had taken them was on point. I got an immediate amount for some of the named pieces that was more than I expected. And went back a year later with some gemstones and at their advice left them on consignment. Not only did they keep in constant contact as to any offers that they received but was guided in the best of ways as to what they believed they could and should get, and followed through. I highly recommend that anyone with high end pieces, i.e.. Cartier, Van and Arpel, or high quality gemstones, take them to Circa. Glad this company is around for ppl who r uneducated and desperate to sell their valuable jewelry assets. Circas customers in My opinion r 65 years old and plus. Younger millennials or anyone under 55 wouldn't even consider do any biz with the company. I will tell u why, cause they know and can understand the value and the price also they do some home work or a research before going to CIRCA. I own handful of watches that r over $5k and up and i know the value of My piece and collection prices. CIRCA basically give u the 3rd price of ur jewelry. For example if ur watch is worth $3k they would give u $850. My advice don't waste ur time going there unless u r desperate in selling ur jewelry or watches. Again nothing is personal about this company they were very polite and knowledgeable as a shark. But usually there is one shark in My opinion in the room who did his or her homework. They price out ones valuable high line jewelry as selling your gold for scrap gold pricing similar to the diamond exchange on west 47thStreet claiming that precious metals have no intrinsic value overtime. An uninformed consumer would have been fooled to think this is true. Gold has always been known to be a safe haven when people need this commodity for stability and investment purposes. Yes commodities are all dependent on the market trends and supply and demand. But realistically a commodity such as gold and diamonds will prevail over time. And are an investment. Don't advertise as a high end purchaser when in fact it's more like pawnbrokers. High karat gold is valued here at a lower karat. The lowest being 14k. And 20-30 years ago gold was low as in having purchased gold at that time. Think about it. Gold has appreciated over time significantly so why would anyone sell their precious gold diamond and gemstone jewelry to this company for what they offer as to your gold being valued today as being less than it was when purchased 20-30 years ago when 20-30 years later gold has quadrupled and multiplied. I was pleased with the genteel way that I was treated by the receptionists and then John Bianco Jr. Mr. Bianco was very polite and sensitive with me as I looked for the best price to get for my jewelry. It is not always easy to sell your precious jewelry, but the process was made easier because of the way Circa does business. After seeing many high end ads and being a frequent visitor to NY, I made an appointment with George to potentially sell 2 diamond rings. All communication before the appointment was professional. The high rise building on Madison Ave with security detail gives a nice first impression. Once you reach the 19th floor you are first seated in the waiting area before your contact takes you into an office space to examine your jewelry. While I know that Circa is in the business to make money and did not expect to receive anywhere near my appraised values, I did not expect to be offered less than 10% of the appraised value on two high end and high quality diamond rings. In similar fashion to car buying, a second person was brought into the office to confirm their offer. What I did find completely unprofessional. Was when one of the Circa employees commented on my gold Cartier Pasha watch that I was wearing stating it was so 90's......seriously!! Fortunately, I was not in a position that I needed to sell my rings for financial reasons. I was only looking to sell two pieces that I had not worn in years for a fair price. Not even close to being a Trusted anything. Went to the NYC office today with 3 pieces of Hermes jewelry and a diamond Tiffany necklace. The young lady told us how happy she was that we had the original boxes and we were selling brand jewelry. She looked, examined with a loop made notes etc. All part of the setup. I actually don't think she had the foggiest idea of the worth of the items. She they proceeded to tell us the pieces were really not popular any more even though the Tiffany piece is still sold worldwide. Just more of the setup. She offered us less then 10% of the retail price. At this point I was just beyond myself although saying nothing except her offer was insulting to me. She then proceeded with their program. "Let me see if someone else can take a look at your items" and left. She returned with the President of the company who went through about the same song and dance but increased the offer by 2 1/2 times. I refused the offer and left after telling the President of the company what I thought of the tactics. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Don't believe the ads. It's funny how Circa is located in such affluent areas such as Palm Beach, NYC, etc where expensive jewelry would come in to be sold and then being offered pennies on highly desirable and expensive jewelry. My own experience was laughable. A $4000 diamond ring was offered at $400. An antique engagement ring and 2 diamond bands with a total weight of 3 carats, all in platinum was offered at $1000. They will try to low-ball you on your jewelry at prices below the commodity value of the stones and the precious metals. They will suggest that you overpaid for the jewelry by suggesting a ridiculously low purchase price, in order to convince you of the low value of your jewelry. I took an excellent condition Omega Speedmaster watch to Circa, located in an office suite in Greenwich CT, to see what it was worth. I'm no jeweler but I did extensive research prior to the meeting. I knew private sale would get somewhere around $3,000 and that pre-owned retail was around $3,500+. After looking at the watch for 3 minutes I was told $1,000! When I said that's all the appraiser told me that was a "great offer" and that if I had come a few weeks ago it would have only been worth a "couple hundred". I of course said no and listed it in eBay where it sold for $2,925. Circa clearly buys for PENNIES on the dollar, knowing EXACTLY what they are doing...my guess is they figure in high end areas folks won't even do their homework and just want to get rid of items... Horrible. Emailed the GIA Certification first. Received a verbal and email offer of 22,000-30,000 for my piece. I had questioned the BIG gap in pricing as I was receiving quotes with a smaller gap (23,000-26,000) and the diamond was GIA Certified. Thinking that maybe they would be closer to a figure I would be wiling to accept, I sent my piece to them. When they received my piece (I was notified by FedEx) it took them 4 hours to call me to notify me that they had received it. Then informed me they would get back to me in 24-48hours with a quote.. WHAT?!?!?.. I had advised the young lady on the phone that I have already received numbers from them on the piece (22k-30k) and just needed them to firm them up for me. Finally received a call the next day. My 22-30 offer was REDUCED TO 15,000 on a GIA Certified diamond after they had originally quoted me 22,000-30,000.. Happy ending, I sold the diamond for 24,000 to a diamond specialist in Ontario NY. read more

Maybe the diamond & platinum bracelet I wanted to sell was more valuable than the jewelry the other reviewers were trying to sell. Remember they are resellers and need to make a profit too. Also, just because you think your ring or whatever is beautiful, it may not be valuable. John was very knowledgeable of the piece and gave me a very fair price. When I asked for their best offer (suggestion: get other appraisals) they increased their offer. I had a piece of jewelry I needed to sell, it was semi-vintage and my appraisal was quite high from 2008- however I was unaware the one main stone was chipped until John pointed it out to me. We set up an appointment and brought all the goodies in to see Jeffrey Singer, one of the founders. He went through every piece (there were about 100) carefully and thoughtfully and prepared an offer for her. We were more than pleased with the professional way we were treated and comfortable enough with the offer that we accepted it. We found Mr Singer to be straight-forward and pleasant. So when I took a portion of my collection to Circa to get an offer, I was amazed at how I was low-balled. The extremely arrogant "buyer" at Circa told me he would hold the prices for me for a week, if I needed to think about it. I then walked a few blocks down to a family-owned estate jewelry dealer who has been in the business for generations & they quadrupled Circa's offer! Much less than what I had paid retail but more in line with my expectations. However, there were 3 pieces that the 2nd buyer was not interested in, including a Cartier watch, so I went back to Circa & the same "buyer" who had originally said that I have a week to decide whether I want to sell at his quoted prices, refused to accept one of the items, saying that it wasn't what he had originally thought (isn't a Buyer supposed to know & not speculate on the quality & integrity of the pieces when he offers a quote?) & for the Cartier watch he said, "I'm paying too much for this. But I'll honor it this time." As though he was doing me a favor. He also asked me about the other pieces that he had previously given quotes on but I did not sell to him & I flat out told him, that I got a substantially better offer. He said, "Well what do you know? We don't usually hear that!" After reading the reviews here & talking to other collectors, I have gathered that such an experience is the norm at Circa. Most excellent experience selling jewelry. I had read many independent online reviews before deciding to go to Circa. What stood out in the reviews was repeatedly "honest" and "very fair." I work with gold and silver when I make my own designs, so I am aware of basic precious metals prices, but do not have a vast knowledge about the stones (sapphire, diamonds and rubies). What I do know about the stones I've worked with personally, is that there are MANY grades for each type of gem. For example, I think if most people knew how inexpensively many diamonds could be had for (dependent on quality), they would be shocked. And woe to the person who expects to get the "appraised value" of their jewelry. There are several obvious reasons for this. I was offered about 1/10 of the scrap value for a platinum and diamond ring that I brought in to Circa last week. In fact, I have been offered seven times as much in the jewelry exchanges on 47th street. Circa has nice offices and gives the wealthy ( and naive) a great ambiance in which to shed a few Cartiers without being forced to mingle with the unwashed masses. Sadly, the price of all that dignity and privacy is a large percentage of the value of your jewelry. Will not visit Circa again. read more

When something did not go according to plan (due to an error on my part), the CIRCA people jumped in and went out of their way to assist me and made sure that things turned out as they should.
