We enjoyed an extremely good dinner at CIpresiaia. There are both indoor and outdoor tables. With the mild Catalan weather, we were able to eat outdoors even in early November.
The restaurant opens a bit earlier than most in Girona, which is nice for Americans who are used to eating earlier than the Spanish. We made a reservation for 19:30 and were promptly seated. Of course we were the only ones eating, most everyone else arrived around 9PM as we were finishing up our meal. For what it's worth, this is a Michelin listed restaurant and is reasonably priced for the quality of food and experience.
Our appetizers included a tomato salad which was a plate of different colored fresh, juicy and delicious tomatoes. We followed this with razor clams. These clams are only found in the Mediterranean Sea. These were particularly succulent and tasty, much better than we had been served at other restaurants. The entrees were grilled sea bass. This is a white and satisfying fish, but certainly very different than the "Chilean Sea Bass" that is found in the US. The grilled scallops were absolutely delicious.
We both ordered the Sangria that was fruity and flavorful and not too sweet. The Flan dessert was absolutely delicious with a wonderful texture and flavor.
The restaurant is in the middle of this small old city and easy to reach from most hotels in Girona. read more
