My husband and I are from Los Angeles and are visiting Italy for the first time and chose the Puglia region to have a more authentic Italian experience. Thus, in our quest for an Italian breakfast, we found Cioccolate Gourmet through the Trip Advisor app and decided to give it a try while visiting Gallipoli. What an AMAZING breakfast!! It was absolutely, heavenly! My husband had the dark hot chocolate and it was like drinking the melted version of a rich, decadent chocolate bar. Thick, but not cloyingly sweet. I had the affogato caffe, which had white chocolate and pistachio ice cream. I am not a white chocolate person, but it was not the terrible, overly sweet white chocolate I am used to in the States and was delicious. We each ordered one of the waffle dishes and, again, they were to die for. My husband ordered rhetorical dark chocolate waffle with fruit. The fruit was plentiful, varied and perfectly ripe with a drizzle of melted dark chocolate. My waffle had melted pistachio cream on it and it was SO good! The waffles were light and airy. All in all, we would give it 10 stars!! The menu offers many different coffees, waffles, crepes and other baked goods (no omelets, but really, that's just an American thing). Also, each of the servers we interacted with were so helpful, warm, kind and friendly even though we speak essentially no Italian. In this part of Italy, most of the locals speak only Italian. However, Google Translate has been our friend and we were able to communicate effectively. I HIGHLY recommend Cioccolate Gourmet if you are in Southen Puglia. read more
