We stopped by for at least one cocktail every night. The cocktails were consistent and made to perfection. The bartenders were friendly and accommodating. My platter had: crostini with bruschetta, mystery cheese (I never learned what this was!) that tastes like queso fresco with a pickled beet jawn on top, mini eggplant lasagna, a pizza fritta pocket, grilled cheese, meatballs, and buffalo mozzarella. BF's platter had: caprese tomato/mozzarella combo with seasoned olive oil and side of pesto, meatballs, grilled cheese and a quinoa salad. Both platters were fresh and tasty. Perfect portion for a light lunch and a true taste of the region. Perhaps a tad overpriced since it was a bit touristy here, however, I think I preferred this app sampler to that of La Uascezze and I loved that place, so it was worth it. Plus, it was a great way to kill a few hours and look out at the sea.

Atmosphere: Whether enjoying drinks the Italian way, alfresco in the shadows of an ancient cathedral or inside the sultry little den outfitted with antiques and art from the 1920s, Saloon Keeper has atmosphere in droves. You will feel like you've stepped back, to a better time, clearly the intention. Included: a soundtrack that will deepen the experience (old Italian favorites, so popular, they thought ahead and gave a QR code to their Spotify). The sweet little details are extremely impressive, which includes a menu that is more of a magazine with Prohibition-inspired art (my favorite being the "follow the cat" theme that runs throughout, even outside where you see the outline of a black cat on the side of the building). I wanted to buy the menu and frame it and I'm kicking myself now for not seeing if that was possible. Cocktails are also inspired by this era and we loved everything we ordered, my favorite being Lo Spritz del Gatto Nero. In addition to the Prosecco element of a spritz, they use a raspberry tea syrup that is incredibly delicious. They serve a snack (my favorite snack of Puglia, taralli) but there are also very reasonably priced little bowls of snacks (chips, olives) so if you're looking for the perfect girl dinner, you've found just the place. I loved my time here so much, we visited twice in our brief time in Lecce. I daresay a big reason of why I'd return to this enchanting city is this very business.

My Nastro Azzuro was very affordable and a view into the little square where this bar sits was perfect for catching the setting sun.
