I've been a loyal client at Cinta Salon in San Francisco for over 14 years, and it remains one of the finest, most high-end salon experiences in the city. From haircuts and styling to color, the quality of service is consistently exceptional. A special mention goes to Dympna, who is truly a magician with hair. Her expertise, creativity, and attention to detail are unmatched. She always takes the time to understand exactly what I'm looking for and somehow exceeds my expectations every time. The entire team is warm, professional, and genuinely kind. The salon is always immaculate, with a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere that makes every visit feel like a treat. From the excellent coffee and tea service to the thoughtfully curated magazines, every detail reflects the salon's commitment to a luxury client experience. Thank you, Mardy! So friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and funny! Great hair washing (so comforting and it felt so good!), hair trim (ends were getting thin), bangs cut (after I messed up cutting them myself), and new layers. I wish I could describe why I like my bangs more now. I've always had bangs but these are the best they've ever looked--they're different and I can't articulate why or how! Cinta is up stairs on the 2nd floor near Union Square and Market St. It's bright, sterile, clean, and light. They fill up! They get busy! Come here and see Mardy! read more

Danielle did a wonderful job on hair. This was back in September. I returned today and again I loved it! Thank you read more

They don't actually accept walk-ins. We showed up at 4pm on a Wednesday and even though they were open until 10:00 they said they couldn't take my daughter for a trim. read more

I was in San Francisco and had extra time for some hair pampering. I was able to get squeezed in for a deep pre condition followed by a shampoo and conditioner with a blowout. Very busy salon and they used Kerastase products. My hair felt like a million bucks and it was worth the fairly high price read more

Came here for a haircut by Mardy! Great service and great cut. I love my new do. It was one of those model haircut sessions and I loved it. I am a stickler for good salons and low priced haircuts and this was it, lol. Staff was super friendly, changed into the robes while I waited. Its a nice spacious salon and nice little view of Grant st. while getting a cut. I hope to be back in a few months for future model cuts! Thanks, Cinta! read more

Sara Watson is truly a gifted stylist. I have been seeing her for many years and each and every time I leave feeling gorgeous. I have super fine hair and the precision of her cuts, her knowledge of color dimension, brings out fullness, shine and leaves me feeling like a radiant beauty. She simply is the best! read more

Sara has saved my hair from being damaged and easily tangled (I used to get these horrible , painful knots) after visiting other salons, to bringing it back to its natural softness and making it easy to brush (no more knots!!). She also helped me find a beautiful color for my hair that looks natural (but better). While it is a bit pricey, the quality of care and service makes it well worth it, so I keep coming back. Thank you Sara and Cinta Salon! read more

Thank you very much Yola for coloring my hair. Excellent job. I will come back to color my hair.

**UPDATED: The salon reached out to me and gave me a full refund and apologized for my experience. Really great of them to do so. if you want an updo at Cinta, my friend's look by Irina was A+.** First of all, this is *just* about one experience. I'm sure the salon is lovely (and my friend got great service), but my time at Cinta was very disappointing. I made an appointment for an updo for a super fancy wedding with a definite end time that I noted in the appointment. My stylist was 30 minutes late to my appointment (including sending me to get a shampoo as a stalling technique even after they texted me 4 times reminding me to to come with clean, dry hair), with just a tossed off apology for making me wait as an afterthought. He talked me out of an updo and said I would have "runway ready flowing hair" as that would look better with my dress, but if I wanted an updo at the end, he could do it. Well, after 45 minutes of teasing and blowing out my hair, there was no time for the updo even if I wanted it, as I was already late to get ready for the wedding. My hotel was 10 minutes away from the salon and literally by the time I made it back to my hotel (in a frantic rush), my hair was flat. So I ultimately spent an insanely large amount of money for an overpriced blowout. I would have been better suited going to a dry bar and spending 1/4th of the cost. Super bummed - was really looking forward to a fun updo. I will say that everyone except my stylist was great and super attentive. Clearly he double booked at my time and tried to cover it. Really unprofessional experience. read more

Rocky has been my stylist for years and has completely transformed my fine, dark hair, restoring health and vitality. Her color work is exceptional--beautiful gray coverage, depth, and dimension--and her cuts grow out flawlessly. As an educator, she brings expertise and a thoughtful, elevated approach to every appointment. The salon is bright, modern, and luxurious, with an outstanding front desk and team. Best salon in the Bay Area. read more

Came back after a year to get highlights with Tinee. I am absolutely obsessed with the results. This review is for Reynold Heiland. Absolute genius. I hate getting my hair done and at this point I was starting to look like Medusa again. Was visiting for a concert and realized my hair was giving good god, so quick call on a Friday and my luck I was able to get in with a power player. Top talent. Beautiful Cleanse and scalp massage. I'm Armenian, Jewish, Mexican and Spanish so I have kinda wild hair texture. He knew exactly how to treat and cut and style my mop. I was in complete shock after he was done. He elevated me. Brought the true beauty of my hair back. Quick and holy mole people were sure checking me out after I stepped out of Cinta. Kerastase all the way. Lovely light wave. What a good haircut and style with do for a lady is priceless. Thank u so much. I was staying two blocks away. So convenient!! read more

The best salon in SF with the best talent. You can't go wrong with this team. Sara Watson has been cutting my hair for more than 10 years and I would never go anywhere else so long as she's around. The entire experience is what you would expect a top-of-the-line salon to offer. read more

Cinta was able to fit me in for a same-day partial balayage appointment with Lia U. I had a great first experience at Cinta Salon getting highlights and a deep conditioning treatment. Haley was my stylist - she's super sweet and knowledgeable. I was trying to brighten up my hair with highlights after having a bad experience at another salon which colored my hair too dark. Haley talked me through what my options were without damaging my hair too much. She worked quickly through the foils and the color came out beautifully. She even gave me several tips and recommendations on how to keep my hair healthy. The salon is modern and clean, and they were taking covid precautions including temperature checks and hand sanitizer at the door. I also saw employees wiping down shampoo bowls and chairs. I felt safe and I definitely will be back! read more

This was the first time ever getting my hair dyed. This is How my hair turned out getting a "bayCost over $300 for this. Going to cost another $300 to correct. Tinee Mahoney has been coloring and highlighting my hair for about a year now and I really love the results. I feel like she understands the color I'm looking for as a late 40s client and does these face framing highlights that look natural and take years off, everyone is always complimenting me on the color when it's styled. It also doesn't feel overly damaged as my original color before going grey was brown. She's an artist at heart, very personable, and a great listener as I explain what I'm looking for when I see her. Thank you Tinee! read more

I've had a number of experiences with the salon over the past 10 years and at this point I recommend that you go anywhere else. I've had twice now practitioners not even show up for the scheduled appointment. If they make a mistake, they are lax to admit it the front desk is haughty and arrogant, and it is very difficult to reach beauticians for rescheduling, or any questions. At one point it was a great salon right now it's awful. In fact, if you talk with people who are new to the beauty scene, they wouldn't take a job there if they were offered one it's an awful place to go. read more

This review is for the Blow Dry Bar. I had a Gilt City deal for a blowdry. Glad they came out with one because I originally had booked an appointment with Dry Bar which looks like they're notorious for running late. The receptionist checked me in and showed me to the bathroom to change into the smock. My stylist Gregory was on time for my appointment to greet me and get started. We ladies know that many stylists don't run on time. I showed him in the book what I wanted, loose curls for my boudior shoot/birthday dinner. I also told him how in got curls done a few weeks ago and one side of them didn't last even before I ran out the door of my house. So he made sure to pin them up as he was going and spray lots of spray. I loved how he gave me some volume around my crown as well. He took his time with me and we ran a little over the expected time but that's what I appreciated. The curls came looser (which I wanted) but lasted all through dinner til I knocked out after a food colma. Go see him at Cinta, he's wonderful! Beautiful salon, maybe not be as shi shi as others but doesn't matter. read more

I had a partial balayage and hair cut, which I've had many times before, both at the Cinta Institute and Cinta Salon. I've been going to the salon lately since they generally are faster and do a better job. My stylist Tinee didn't ask too many questions. I told her I just wanted a cut and to touch up my hair so it looked the same as before (i.e. dark brown with lighter reddish highlights, long layers). She used heat on my hair, which was unusual since I hadn't had that before. When she started blow-drying my hair, it started looking very dark on top and an almost orange-y light color on the bottom. I asked her about it, and this is really the worst part -- she tried to convince me that was what it was supposed to look like. I get that she may have used the color on file and I get that the roots are hard to lift, but if you're trying to convince me that uneven color is normal, you've lost my trust. When I'm paying nearly $500, I expect to be very happy with the results and I expect the stylist to be the first to notice if there's something off. I certainly don't expect the stylist to gaslight me when I'm telling her my hair is off. She ended up fixing the color with two rounds of tone and I ended up tipping her 15% but my hair is still feeling dry and straw-like two weeks later. I get upset about it every time I take a shower so decided to just share my experience on Yelp. Next time I might just go to Cinta Institute since at least they don't try to gaslight you. read more

If you like to take a day off work for a hair appointment only to be told that your hair stylist double booked herself and can't fit you in, this is the place for you!!! Malia had messaged me to see if I was interested in being a model for a Tuesday color class. When I arrived I was made to wait 10 minutes only to be told that the stylist had double booked herself. I would have understood if the stylist would have communicated this with me. Her only response was to say sorry. When I addressed my frustrations with the salon receptionist and showed her proof that Malia had confirmed her appointment for me no manager ever addressed my complaint. I find this behavior completely unprofessional and for a manager not to fix the issue is disrespectful. They offered for me to make another appointment and come in another day-but after this experience I don't wish to come back to this salon to be treated so poorly. read more

I got a purple balayage for the first time late last year and Tinee did an amazing job! I only had to show her one reference photo and she immediately understood what I wanted. She took her time and paid attention to all the little details which I appreciated. I also like how everyone was isolated making me feel safer to get my hair done during COVID. I definitely love Tinee's work! Even after a few weeks my hair still looks great. read more
