    Assorted Platter & Garlic Naan
    Samantha S.

I treated myself here for lunch on a Wednesday and thoroughly enjoyed my experience! I ordered the assorted platter that included a little bit of everything to try along with the garlic naan. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the chicken pakoras were. The naan bread is to die for, too! They seemed to have daily specials as well that looked really good!

Delicious. Good portions, good options for vegetarian & vegan. Lots of choices in heat levels and sides. We had four meals between us and all were delicious.

    Chicken Tikka Masal remains

You know it's good when you freeze the last bit to take home with you to another state I tried the Chicken Tikka Masala and took home to share with my son, the remains of the day. However, he was denied the pleasure of tasting this as I couldn't stop eating it. I'm now freezing the small remains so I can do my sad best to replicate it again since I live in San a diego My daughter is lucky enough to live there and get this delivered. Sadly I'm relegated to licking the bowl and hoping I can come anywhere near these flavors. A hint of sweet, beautiful curry flavor and just enough heat. We ordered spice of 5 out of 10. YUM!

Lunch special was more than enough of everything and I couldn't finish it. Reasonably priced at $14 with lots of naan.

    Assorted appetizer platter.

No flavor. Small buffet. Try Mela instead - a world of difference.

(Shahi Daawat means Royal Feast or Royal Banquet historically signifying grand meals from princely kitchens with rich dishes, luxurious presentation and cultural elements and often themed around specific Indian states of festivals and tracing back to royal recipes. Kerala is a coastal state on the south of India having a coastline of about 400 miles along the Arabian Sea. The food there being popular for their fresh ingredients, rich spices, coconut and seafood.) First of all we were both greeted with a beautiful and fragrant Jasmine garland by the owner and staff outfitted in typical dress and we were seated on a table with banana leaves as our plates for the first portion of the feast (yes; it was a feast!!!). The appetizers started arriving promptly with a variety of proteins starting with chicken deliciously seasoned and delightfully crunchy. The chicken was followed by Medu Vada with Coconut Chutney and Pan Roasted Prawns, Vada with Chutney and a delicious Mushroom Pepper Fry. Then the entrees began: Idli and Sambhar, Lamb Chettinad, Kadala (chickpea) Curry, Egg Roast, Pepper Chicken, Cabagge Thoran and Kerala Fish Curry. This was accompanied by Malabar Paratha and Lemon Rice. Although the portions of the individual items seemed small, cumulatively became overwhelming, but I would not change it at all. It seemed as if we were welcomed into someone's home and they were gladly sharing all of the dishes of their region. It was a magnificent and comprehensive compilation of dishes from Kerala and I am glad it was so!!! The desserts were three; Kozhikode Halwa (different than Halwa from Northern India; Kozhidode Halwa this delicacy melts in your mouth and it is popular not only in Kerala but in Arabia, Persia, and London. Food historian have traced its origins back to centuries ago), Coconut Burfi (a traditional treat made with coconuts milk and cardamom) and Coconut Kulfi (a delicious frozen coconut milk delight). During the meal the chef, (himself native of Goa, southern India), servers and the owner visited the tables to answer any questions. As if we were transported to a Restaurant in Kerala; It was a delightful, authentic and memorable experience, one that will not be forgotten! We will return to their next experience. Thank you Mehfil, as your full restaurant name suggests/meaning (Mehfil; Yaaron Ki... apno ki=A gathering of friends and loved ones) We definitely felt the love.

My husband's chicken biryani was more like a curry rice, and the flavors were all wrong. My son's chicken tikka was fine, but that could be because it was ordered as "mild". Overall, I wouldn't recommend. For the high rating and the high price point I expected something more authentic.

As for food, I cannot recommend the matchstick okra fries enough. Even if you don't like okra, please give them a try. As someone who doesn't like okra normally, we were convinced by our waiter to give them a try and I am so glad that we did. So crispy and salty, just a wonderful way to start the evening. Highly recommend the chaat as well, full of flavor and a refreshing start before the main dishes arrived. They all sounded good, so really a personal preference on which to go with. For the main dish we opted for both Thali's, butter chicken and the saag paneer. Both were delicious and full of flavor, again I don't think you could wrong since you get a little of everything on your platter. Our service was phenomenal as well! Our waiter walked us through the menu, gave us recommendations, and was very attentive. Food came out super quick as well so all around 10/10. I will now be waiting ever so impatiently for our next visit to Asheville so that we can give more of the menu a try!!

It is their fault!!! This is why I can't eat at any other restaurant of great Indian food!! Yes,…read morethese are the owners of this restaurant have ruined me for life!!! I tried to go in two different restaurants where I live in the USA, And it's never good enough for me. I tasted good food in San Antonio, Texas. But I was being robbed. This restaurant has spoiled me for life. If I ever get back to Greenville South Carolina. This is the only restaurant to go to!!!! 5 star!!! And it's not just one item. It is every single piece of food that they create in this restaurant. Clean!! I mean the whole place is clean even the driveway even the parking lot everything. The locals complain about the traffic. But the real test is when you walk in and taste. This restaurant has ruined me for life. The best food all the way around!! Thank you. I have not been there in 16 years. One day soon.

It popped up with great Google ratings, and since it was New Year's Day and a working day, we assumed it wouldn't be too busy. Turns out we were wrong--we had to wait about 30 minutes. That said, the small and cozy waiting area made the wait comfortable, and since we were dining with a kid, the staff kindly offered us a corner table, which we really appreciated. For appetizers, we ordered the Paneer Triple Platter. Unfortunately, the first batch was served cold and felt undercooked. However, once we mentioned it, the staff immediately replaced it with a fresh batch, and it was excellent. All three marinates were flavourful, and even the onions and salad were well-marinated and delicious. The only downside was that the paneer cubes were quite large, so the flavours didn't fully seep inside, making it feel a bit heavy at times. For the main course, we tried their highly reviewed Rara Paneer, which did not disappoint in terms of flavour. The Mushroom Masala truly stood out and ended up being my favourite dish of the meal. We paired the curries with butter and garlic naan, and everything was served in generous portions. While the pricing is slightly on the higher side, the quality and quantity completely justify it. The ambience is royal with strong Indian vibes, making it a great choice for special occasions or family dinners. Although the service felt a little slow at times, the staff was always attentive, warm, and accommodating, ensuring our requests were handled well and that our overall dining experience remained positive. On our next visit, we're definitely looking forward to trying their momos and Manchurian, as we heard many good things about them. Overall, a place we'd happily return to.
