A small cinema showing quirky films…read more The Belmont is a lovely independent cinema with a great atmosphere. It shows a fantastic range of foreign, independent films and documentaries. The 3 small screens give it a proper old-school feel, which you just can't get from the big cinema chains. It is slightly more expensive than larger cinemas, but worth it to see that film that isn't viewed in regular cinemas. Also has a fantastic range of ice-cream, sweets and popcorn. There is a bar/cafe in the basement, but i have yet to visit it, as it seems to be often closed.

There is always a wide variety of films on and they are always the latest ones out. The seats are extremely comfy and unlike in most cinemas that try to cram in as many seats as possible, this one has left a large amount of space for your legs. The toilets are always clean, even after a busy night so their staff obviously have a good attitude towards their work and are well trained. Definately a must in Aberdeen.

I must say though, the leg room seems to be non existant and i've found the chairs are a lot less comfy than others. They show a variety of films, but these tend to appear at silly times that just aren't convenient for anyone. They are the latest films to come out though so shouldn't complain that much. The food here is very expensive along with the cinema tickets themselves. You're talking over £20 for two of you to go and have some food. This is probably what puts me off the most. It is conveniently located for anyone that drives, but if you don't drive you've a long walk from the bus stop to the cinema and then back again later on. Worth a try if you're at the beach anyway, if not, i'd pick a different cinema.

I didn't spend too much time reading every single word written, but I skimmed most things and lingered longer over the things that caught my eye. It's not a huge museum, so if you're a history buff, you might like to read more and spend a bit longer. Overall, it's a nice little gem tucked off to the side behind Vue cinema, and it's definitely worth checking out if you've got a hankering for understanding the city of Aberdeen a bit better or are looking for a few things to do to avoid a rainy afternoon but still get out of the house. I'd visit again if I had folks with me who were visiting Aberdeen!

Some good displays in particular one oil painting of a ship battling huge waves, dark and foreboding clouds, stood out. It was ok. Does not even come close in comparison to Scott's Discovery vessel.
