Another of Aberdeen's Archibald Simpson (architect) buildings, the Music Hall has good acoustics and a fantastic collection of murals. The entryway and lobby are good for access staright off Union Street in the heart of the city. The bar can become crowded especially during the interval of a performance - if you don't book a table, you'll wait ages for a drink and end up standing in the corridor!
I wish the management would finish the repairs to the roof and get rid of the unsightly plywood which mars some of the ceiling artwork, as it's been there for years now. I wish the magnificent pipe organ were on better display rather than being hidden behind a curtain half the time. And I wish someone would come up with a way to hide modern spotlights in a beautiful building nearly 200 years old. The reason being that I absolutely enjoy the atmosphere in the Music Hall. I went to a Kate Rusby concert there yesterday, and it was excellent, but all sorts of artists perform there - rockers to the symphony orchestra to stand-ups. Overall a pretty enjoyable experience. read more
