Watched movies here for 4-years of university, never had a bad experience. Always go on CPX Tuesdays when tickets are super cheap.

Excellent movie theatre. The seating was comfortable and plush. I was very surprised the movie I seen wasn't all that busy.

It was just re-built right behind…read moreWestmount Mall last summer I believe? and features an amazingly nice VIP section (Although I have yet to go, but I will!) with full bar with decor that rivals some of the nicest bars in the city as well, I can't comment much more on the VIP other than what I've seen from the front but it looks impressive with full lounge complete with fireplaces and nice leather seating. I can however comment on the rest of the theatre as I came here to watch Sherlock Holmes over the Christmas break. The rest of it is nice, and redone although it doesn't seem to be as big as the Silver City located in the Masonville Area. But it does however make up for that with it brand new reclining seats, yeah that's right I said reclining seats at a movie theatre! Although has brand new big screens with brand new equipment and sound to match. So in other words the movie experience is amazing! even if your not 19+ and able to go into the VIP (Although I am, lol, but don't worry I will go to VIP one of these days and make a review based on that too.) The concessions sport your usual movie fare including the usual popcorn, pop, nachos, chocolate bars, etc. Although they seem to be on the pricey side, make sure you get a large for free refills! Lots of debit machines and automated ticket machines if the lines are too big, which they can tend to get on holidays and weekends. Oh and not to mention half price Tuesday are a zoo! But if your in the area by far the best theatre whether your sitting in VIP or regular, period.

Wow. London's best kept secret!…read more I can't believe that my boyfriend has been living in London for three years and we've never been here! As a movie fanatic, let me tell you, this theatre is REALLY NICE. Definitely nicer than the VIP in Toronto, and maybe even... the nicest theatre I have ever been to? And it's in LONDON?! This place is amazing - and when I say "this place" I mean the VIP cinemas - the rest is pretty standard Cineplex. The VIP has three theatres in a completely separate area. The lounge is almost like a nice restaurant or bar, I could definitely see myself hanging out there before or after the movie. The theatres themselves are so nice. Much larger than VIP cinemas elsewhere, they have leather reclining seats, and if you happen to get stuck in the front, well they have wide leather couch type chairs. However, if you book your tickets advance online, they do have seat selection so you should be able to get the seat you want. Every two chairs there is a table, with a full menu. This includes a full bar (I had a Caesar, yum!), appetizers, entrees, and your standard candy and popcorn. The service inside the VIP theatre is so friendly and prompt as well - we asked for our popcorn in two separate bags because I wanted flavor, and they brought us out two larges for the price of one! Overall, I had a great experience here. It is totally worth the extra few dollars to see your movies in VIP. I'll be back!

Popcorns everywhere!…read more Landmark Cinemas in south London provided a good movie experience. It featured 8 theatre rooms within a colourful retro interior. There is a concession immediately past the entrance and large popcorn refill for their members and they were willing to provide smaller bags. The actual movie audio/visual experience was great. The big screen is huge compared to smaller independent theatre chains (Imagine), and has no reflective glare for better picture quality. The reclined lounge seats are comfortable and make for decent view even near the front. Interestingly, we noticed there were premiere seats with recliners paired side-by-side within a partition for couples viewing. Their Movie Club membership included a movie admission each month, concession discount and waived online booking fee. Only blemish was the popcorn spread over the concession floor that no one seemed to be assigned to sweep away. A seating area is available to wait before showtime as staff cleaned up the theatre room. Skip it or hit it? It's worth coming for a comfortable movie showing especially if you overlook the popcorn strewn over the floor.

I'll make it simple, for the same ticket price you get lower cost concessions, reserved seating, full recliners, and great service. Yep. That's all folks! But really, this movie theatre has sat there and sat there for the longest time. It couldn't compete with the big guy Cineplex, and it wasn't kitschy like the downtown Rainbow (come on, you cant resist that sexy bear painting). I'm so happy that Landmark took this spot and turned it into something London didn't have. A full theatre based around amazing and comfortable reserved seating. That's a bingo! We went to see the Revenant and to my surprise, we went to order tickets for a Wednesday night and the theatre was almost sold out completely! We opted for the Thursday night instead. We purchased our tickets online, and printed them off. The guy at the booth scanned them (apparently he has been there for ages, everyone knows him!) and we were on our way. The concession stand had tons of candy options! Not only that, but they had normal sized candy you could buy for $2.50. They had bigger options but sometimes you just want a regular box of Smarties and be done with it. Amirite? The guy serving us asked us what were seeing and we chatted about how we didn't like Hateful Eight (sorry QT, I'm sorry). This was nice! I like the personable experience. The ONLY thing I have to say about this entire experience, is do not sit where we sat. I dont know if this is applicable to all auditoriums but in #2, we sat in G 9&10. This was right next to the doors. There is one set of doors to the outside, and then another set of doors to the theatre. They shut the doors to the outside but not the ones to the hallway, where there is a light. Luckily I had a hoodie on so I could hide the light that was coming in from the left side of my peripheral vision. Now this is a huge nit pick but if you are easily distracted like I am, this may not be a great experience. Nonetheless, the seats are just as amazing as all the reviews say. Comfy and recline-y. They go way back and you can put your feet up no problem with tons of room to spare for people to walk by. All and all, I would give this theatre a shot if you haven't. It isn't what it used to be! So to you Landmark 8, "I'll be back."

This place is well-run and clean. The staff is always friendly and informed about coming shows and events. I especially like that for special events, there can be a curated pre-show of interviews and related ads (i.e. - vintage tie-in toy ads for the Star Wars shows). Some of the standout special events we've attended over the years have been: the world premier of Women Talking with a talk by the director, a silent film festival with an expert speaker and a live pianist to play the accompanying music, series marathons (Lord of The Rings and StarWars), a Mama Mia sing-along (I can't remember if that was a planned event or just happened organically), and The Rocky Horror Picture Show with costumes encouraged (like any good RHPS showing there was excellent audience participation). The popcorn is always hot and fresh. Fair notice, it's an old theatre with old theatre seats (my husband always brings a cushion). The parking lot can be a bit chaotic but I find that part of the charm. There's plenty of street parking in the neighborhood.

I'll admit, indie, art, and foreign films aren't my thing, but Hyland does release some more well known films, just a bit later than the big guys. And you know what? That's okay! I'll gladly take Hyland's old school vibe over the other guy's incessant advertising and jacked up prices. This theatre brings me back to the good old days of movie going. Plush fabric seats, no cup holders, and no stairs, just the good old slanty floor. Same goes for the concession stand. Very simple, and quite affordable, with lots of unique options like artisan popcorn. I went to Hyland to see the Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 double feature. What a treat! Thankfully we purchased our tickets online through their paypal system because it was buuuusy! Almost completely full! They have a retro night called "Retromania" which this event was a part of. There was a lot of parking in the back but it was full when we arrived. Thankfully there is a lot of parking on the streets nearby. It was a bit unfortunate that they started a half an hour late but with a line up out the door, GO HYLAND GO! We didn't get out of there until 2:30 or so. Thankfully they kept the concession stand open between the films and they sell coffee and tea. I had a blast at Hyland and I definitely want to catch more films there! PS: FUN FACT, my dad used to go on dates at Hyland Cinema in the 70s! This place has a lot of history. I suggest checking out their website and reading about it!

Unique Indie cinema experience in the Kitchener Waterloo area!…read more It's a rare event when you find out that the town you live in has an Indie Theatre. We found out about this location from our REC 280 course at the University of Waterloo. Although it was part of an assignment to visit this location, the experience was thoroughly enjoyed and as a group we vowed to return at a later date. As students from University of Waterloo we were excited to be supporting local businesses. Additionally, we were offered a discounted price if we purchased out ticket from the turnkey desk at the Student Life Center About Princess Cinemas: From researching online prior to the trip, we found out that this is a true Canadian independent cinema that is privately owned and owner-programmed. They have been open for over 30 years and currently have two locations in Waterloo, Ontario. Planning the trip: We started off by visiting the Princess Cinema website online. Their website was very organized and easy to navigate. The homepage of the website featured the movies that were currently playing at the cinema. This being an Indie theatre there were lots of critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated movies playing. The website was very detailed and provided a summary of the movie and the timings it was playing. Once we decided on a movie and the time as a group, we went to the turn key desk at our student center and purchased the tickets. There is also an option to purchase the tickets online via Paypal for general admission. Experience at the attraction: We decided to drive to the theater. From the University of Waterloo the drive was around 10 minutes. Since the theatre is at a prime location there were lots of parking spots available. Once we arrived at the theater we felt an indie/old-school vibe. There was a ticket booth at the entrance. Making our way inside we decided to purchase some popcorn, as we had read raving reviews of it online. The movie hall itself was very clean and retro looking with red seats. Here, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Post trip: After the movie showing we decided to get some coffee at Princess Café with is conveniently located near the theatre. The coffee was of great quality and the staff were very friendly. The wait time was a bit high due to the place being under staffed but overall the experience was good! Demographic witnessed: movie watchers of all ages, ranging from students to retirees. Price: $9 for students and $12 for general audience (Including Taxes) Quality: Quality of the food and beverages was good as compared to large chain cinemas. Accessibility: Location is in the heart of uptown Waterloo and is easily accessible through driving and busses. Parking is abundant and there were no problems locating a parking close to the theatre. Uniqueness as an attraction: This theatre is a unique experience in the Kitchener Waterloo area since indie cinemas like this one are quite rare in Canada! This place is a must-visit for any tourists in this region.
