All staff wear masks and you are encouraged to buy your tickets ahead of time online or via self serve options. There is no cash payments accepted to avoid the spread of any type of germs or bacteria. High contact points are cleaned often and when buying your tickets you must choose your seats ahead of time and spacing between seats are blocked off. Buying popcorn or other treats is still the same and you can have your mask off while eating. The staff was generally friendly but with shortages of employees some are less tentative and friendly which is understandable. This sugar shack has a mix of activities for adults and kids alike with the standard fare of things to do. There's the horse ride, an animal farm and a place to have some maple taffy. The hall is rather big with 2 different eating areas providing a different "dining" experience. Lalande manages to not make it feel like a commercial experience that so many of their competitors (ex: Constantin) completely fails to achieve. The single best thing I like about this place was the ROUND table we had for our party of 10...WITH REAL SEATS YO!! They managed to turn one of the more negative pain points of the Sugar Shack experience to a positive one. Comfortable seating and able to see and socialize with friends with family. Albeit this is not the case for the entire hall, but I'll take this experience every year! Another positive item was the service we had from Manon. She was so sweet and friendly and did her job so well! This is a special thing to note as these sugar shack waitress experiences tend to feel quite wooden and forgettable. Bon travail Manon!!! As for the food, it's the standard fare you have at Sugar Shacks. Only item would be the poudding chomeur not being prepped as I normally like it. The maple taffy experience was great. A bit of a line-up but we all understand why... soooo yummy. My only negative points would be the animals. Frankly the horses stank and looked dirty. They should be taken better care of and be cleaned on a regular basis. The animal farm was small, caged off but not too small. There were chickens, ducks, pigeons, goats, sheep, alpacas and a hamburger. I'm not a fan of these small farms albeit the kids like to see them and feed them. The $1 for handful of feed is a bad deal. In conclusion, this cabane a sucre was solid experience and I'd go back. It's just 15 minutes off the island and worth the trip.

A state of the art equipped theatre, with 4K projectors, seats about 54 people and provides daily screenings at 7pm and 9pm and all day on the weekends. The fronting intimate 'café-slash-bar' provides a perfect area to get out of our traditional "web streaming bubble", gather in an intimate yet vibrant environment, socialize and mingle with locals over a beverage or food or your choice at any time or the day. Although it wasn't too busy and people were strolling in and out quite a bit, I could imagine this place getting crowded at peak times. On the menu were an assortment of steamed bao buns including vegetarian, gravlax, chicken or smoked meat and even a breakfast bao which I had the chance to taste with a side salad with glass of fresh pressed orange juice during brunch. Located upstairs, is a post-production company called Post-Moderne, where many movies are go through finalisation processes such as colorisation. Overall, the theatre, café-bar, and post-prod company combination is a very smart use of space and very interesting concept to discover. Please do come and experience what the founders, Roxanne Sayegh and Alexandre Domingue, have been researching for so long in Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, New York and Mexico City, and finally transform their dream into reality right here in Montreal - hopefully stating a revolutionary movement that will make pull us cinephiles out of our couches back into the theatre!
