I called Cinema Systems & Jon Kim came out that day. He looked at my entertainment system & immediately recognized my universal remote. I previously had another company say that it couldn't be fixed. He said my receiver & some other equipment was outdated. I sort of knew that because I got it at least 25 years ago. He gave me an estimate of ~$1500, which is about what I expected. We made plans to replace some equipment & to program everything the way I was used to it. He had another employee come back, who spent hours installing & programing. The programing didn't work. To be fair, the employee looked exhausted when he came here. I called Jon & he came out & apologized. He hadn't even cashed the final check that I had given him. He said he would only take that after everything was working correctly & gave me the check back. Jon fixed everything!! He even programed by old remote as a backup (same model as the new one). Since he had to buy another blue ray player for $35, I gave him the agreed upon price + $35 for the player, since I felt it was fair & threw away the old check that he had given back. My system was complicated...TV, Blue Ray player, Phonograph, Roku. He got us a new receiver, Roku remote, HDMI cord, & Blue Ray player. Don't use this company, sooner or later John will screw you over. He's only interested in big very expensive jobs. And if something more lucrative comes along you'll be screwed as that's his priority after the pandemic. When he needed the business, he was ok but now...forget it. A couple of years ago I wrote a glowing review which was earned. But in August of this year, he really screwed me over. I made an appointment for theatre system breakdown and reinstall and he literally left me hanging out to dry. I talked to him a couple of days before my move and he assured me he would do the job. The day before I called to confirm everything and not only did he never call back he never showed up. I left numerous messages and NEVER got a call to even explain himself to this day. Called Cinema Systems for a while house theater and wifi estimate. John Kim came out for my home theater and wifi net work installation. All i can say that he is a professional , courteous person. He helped me plan out my wifi install and took time to coordinate with my previous provider and helped me into a smooth transition. The wifi system he installed works beautifully and my while house is now working off of 1 SSID! And the coverage is everywhere! For my home theater system, he was right on par. He fully automated my theater room and also installed tvs in my kitchen and my elder mothers room. The work is flawless and all equipments perfectly. False statements here, John. The wi-fi extenders were removed, and we were back on the same set up as initially used. You couldn't get the recorder to work after several attempts, and essentially left us hanging. So the system you installed doesn't work. We spent considerable money with you for installation and recordable security cameras. Now we simply have cameras that don't record. For a family of 6 spending their hard earned money on security and comfort, that is not what you provided. Sorry - pilaster was just another goof. read more

When he first came out to provide an estimate for my A/V set up, he explained and offered three levels of technology and pricing which enabled me to choose what was best for my needs. John and his workman were professional, prompt and cleaned up after the installation. Kicking myself for having waited so long to do it! The only regret I have is that I chose to purchase my big screen TV from a big box store and the picture went out 4 days after the warranty expired! I'm still fighting directly with the manufacturer on a refund!!! Meantime, I called John who came out immediately and diagnosed the problem, took down the wall mounted TV, purchased and installed the replacement TV (same brand but higher quality) and the situation was handled. I spent 5 figures with him and he was very nice and everything was great fro this instillation, but for the follow up calls he began to stop responding. I had to eventually hire someone else to fix my system. Amazing transformation! My home was a brand new build but didn't have any wires pre-built for speakers and entertainment console. I was hesitant about breaking down the walls to install ceiling speakers and setup my entertainment console in an opposite corner from where the TV would be mounted over the fireplace. Unprofessional. Liar. Does Not Finish His Work. If you are looking for someone professional who will tell you what they can and cannot do, John Kim and his company Cinema Systems is NOT the company! He did a job in early July for me. He has made a couple appointments with me after to finish the job in the end of July and early August and has stood me up. John does not even have the decency or manners to call to cancel his appointments (more than one)! He simply just doesn't show up and will not take your calls when you ask where is he. We had to hire others to finish his job. After my experience with John Kim at Cinema Systems, I would advise anyone who considers working with him to think again and again. However, if you decide to give him a chance, and you do get lucky enough that he answers your calls, he is nice and will promise you the world. Agree with all these 5 star reviews! John is just great. I interviewed at least half a dozen home theater people. He was the only one who insisted a wired surround sound is way better than new wireless. He spent time, came up with ideas and did a fully wired system in two rooms for the same or less than everyone else quoted for an inferior wireless system. Then we added sound to our back yard. Best of all, John really cares and is very responsive to fix any glitch that comes up (and they will), sometimes the same day even if you would have been OK waiting. read more

John took wonderful care of us! We wanted to have a projector and surround sound system installed in a large room. We had quite a few companies and private installers come out to give us quotes, which caused more confusion than clarity, considering the wide range of recommended equipment and costs. John was able to clearly explain our options for projecting in a large space and even brought in a projector, to give us an idea of the image quality we could expect. His team was professional and polite throughout the whole process. John recommended the right equipment for our needs and did not try to oversell us on extra bells and whistles. He even saved us hundreds of dollars by running Coax cable, to be able to connect our Spectrum TV service to our projector system, instead of us having to bring in a wiring company.
