With at least 500 mexican restaurants within driving distance from my house why does "Cinco" stand out? Because it is consistantly good, fresh and just downright tasty. Push aside the beef stew and turkey dinner, this place has become all the comfort food my family needs! Lets start with the little things and work our way up....Carnitas soft tacos - Loaded with meat, green salsa, onion and cilantro. Yumm. Best carnintas around.... BCR's - Bean, cheese and rice burritos. The acronym BCR was stolen from Los Panchos but the beans at Cinco are much better! The taco salads, chiliquiles, enchiladas and all the dinner specials are great. You cant go wrong. But to top it all off is the Fiesta burrito. This one has the works. I usally get it with whole beans, pork or carnitas but you can get it with any of the meats offered. This thing weighs, and is about the size of a duraflame log. One time my friend and I both got one and they nearly ripped out the bottom of the bag! I will get completely sideways on oned of these, wash it down with a negra modela and go into a nearly irreversible food coma. UPDATE: 1/25/12: Tacos weren't bomb anymore. I'm taking away a star and I probably won't come here again. Today was my first visit due to Yelp reviews (You Rock!). They have bomb ass tacos! Too bad I only had one with my beef combo dinner (tamale, enchilada and taco). I almost cleaned my plate... it was pretty darn good. If I could pick the least fav thing, it would be the tamale, but don't get me wrong, it was good, I've just had better. However, the taco was prolly THE BEST eveeeeeeeeer! Came here for some lunch after a day at the Flea Market...this is our new favorite hole in the wall. There is something for everyone! I had one crunchy chicken taco and a bowl of tortilla soup. Huge pieces of chicken in the soup..obviously homemade because if it was anywhere else, there would have only been a teeny, tiny bit. I actually ate here twice today...that's how much I like Cinco de Mayo. In order to save face, I walked in the door, looked the guy at the counter square in the eye, and announced as non-nonchalantly as possible, "Yeah I'm back again for dinner." He laughed. Still unsure if his laugh was sharing in the hilarity of my announcement or just plain mockery, but I've chosen not to make conjectures. Cinco de Mayo became a family favorite after Los Panchos (around the corner) seemed to go downhill a few years back. Besides, they have actual tables so you dont feel like a total bum eating in, which is a bit of a burrito buzzkill. I recommend the fish taco, asada sopes, or a fiesta burrito (so big you can eat one half and wrap up the 2nd half for lunch tomorrow...or...if you can't help yourself...just eat the 2nd half when you get home, sicko). EVERYDAY MEXICAN FOOD IN THE QUAINT TOWN OF MARTINEZ Stopped in here for a quick bite with my award-winning photographer friend T. T is very opinionated and has discerning palate. We ordered at the counter and helped ourselves to chips and salsa at their salsa bar. The chips were fresh and they had three salsas to choose from--mild, medium, and spicy. None of the salsas really stood out but the mild one had the best flavor of the three. Guisada T ordered the guisada and her plate arrived with seasoned beef mixed with onions and bell peppers, rice, beans, and corn tortillas. She said the meat was flavorful and the rice tasted homemade. T is not a fan of beans so she did not eat them. Combination Plate: Chicken Taco, Chicken Enchilada, and Chicken Burrito Of the three items on the combination plate, I liked the chicken taco the best. The taco was crispy without being greasy and did not fall apart when I ate it. The enchilada and burrito were adequate and I liked the flavor of their rice and beans. The service was friendly and efficient. The parking and seating inside is limited; looks like most of their business is take out food. So grateful for Cinco De Mayo. I work in Martinez and I love having Cinco De Mayo nearby. When I am craving Mexican food and at work, Cinco De Mayo is where I go. The food is very simple - don't expect anything fancy. I always order the chicken crispy tacos or the ground beef crispy tacos. Have also tried the steak quesadilla. I went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. I didn't know what was good and only had a few bucks on me. I ordered the Bean Cheese and Rice Super burrito. It was just okay for me, but was enhanced by their salsa from their salsa bar. I would like to go back and order a variety of dishes, as I think their meats are probably their specialty. I've eated here many times and have always enjoyed their food. I have never used them to cater an event though, until this past weekend. I did have some worries that they would be on time and their food would be just as good on a grand scale as it is on a small scale. I shouldn't have worried. The food was on time, hot and delicious! I would definitely recommend them to cater your next event. This place may not look like a 4-star restaurant, but their food sure is. My fiance and I live right around the corner from Cinco, but it still took us awhile to finally try this place out - and once we did, we eat there often enough for me to want to leave a review. Their tacos - beef or chicken are to die for, their nachos are so good it's making me hungry as I write. I love their guacamole! And to top it off, their prices are incredible. I had take-out from this restaurant while visiting California. Now that I'm back in New York, I'm craving the Combination #2. I'm on a mission to find the perfect tamale in NYC. I want a tamale so freaking bad!!! Specifically, I want a tamale from CINCO DE MAYO...and a chile relleno... and a beef soft taco. My meal was cheap, tasty and, totally worth the wait. Lived in Martinez almost my whole life and I am embarassed to say that I ate here for the first time a couple of weeks ago. (I know, I know...) I am glad that we found a fast, cheap, delicious Mexican place. The chicken tortilla soup is sooo good. We came one time the day after Thanksgiving and it was PACKED...which is why we didn't come back throwing food when we got home and discovered there was nothing in our tortilla soup other than broth. Total bummer - but when we mentioned it the next time we came in they put TONS of extra chicken in it for us. The crispy chicken tacos are good, and so are the super burritos. Their combo dinners are really good, and super cheap. I really don't want to share this little gem, but this is by far the absolute best Mexican food around - bar none. Beats Los Poncho's in Pacheco hands down, and their prices are better. All of the items are excellent, but the Chile Relleno is seriously unbeleivable. If you like Pico de gallo, theirs is excellent. They even have price breaks for ordering items by the dozen. I have only ordered to go, so I do not have experience with the rather small, modest dinning area. However the service is always very cheerful and very nice. I'll admit that my first choice for Mexican food take-out is usually Los Panchos when I'm "home" (Martinez) but when LP didn't answer the phone the other day, we called Cinco instead and we were not disappointed. My mom and I ordered crispy special beef tacos, enchilada dinners, a BCR and bean dip. Everything is delicious! The food was ready right as I arrived (perfectly timed) and the price is great. We've also ordered them for catering and were very impressed. The food was delivered early and everything was hot and delicious. They left the large containers that kept that back-up trays warm and we returned them the next day. We got huge bags of chips and a bucket full of salsa! Everyone enjoyed the variety of the meal and there were plenty of leftovers. read more

Cinco de Mayo is one of the best hands down due to their portions and the pricing of their excellent food. My three way combo of a Beef taco, Enchiladas and tamales and beans and rice were more than enough and my girl friends Carne Asada burrito was huge and packed with tons of meat and flavor. Here's where it went wrong.I placed an order for 2 Fiesta burritos, one wet and a small side of rice with chips and salsa. The burritos which I repeated back 2x and the young lady on the phone confirmed were supposed to have everything on it, guacamole sour cream cheese and onions(EVERYTHING). When I got home the burritos were cold, I only live right down the street so they should have still be hot and they had no guacamole, sour cream, onion, or cheese.
