Shtayburne Farm - Our 12 cheese and ice cream flight

Such a fun experience!…read more So many fun flavors of icecream and different cheeses! Not to mention the adorable cows!! We tried the flight of 8-- 5 icecreams and 3 cheeses. For icecream we tasted the purple cow, peach cobbler, cookies and cream, black cherry chocolate, and the coffee heath crunch. My favorite was the coffee flavor- unlike other coffee icecreams I've had, this coffee had a much more robust and richer flavor profile. I liked cookies and cram-- always a classic. The cherry flavor was a tad too artificial for my liking. Purple cow was fine- very similar to the Cornell Dairy flavor- both are good though! I liked the peach cobbler flavor though wish there were more of the mix-ins. For cheeses, we tasted the butter garlic cheddar curds, the signature Summit Cheddar, and the plain quark. The garlic cheddar curds were so good, I took a bag home with me! Summit cheddar had a nice nutty flavor, not too 'sharp' though. The quark was interesting... it had a rather mild flavor and interesting texture (similar to boursin). I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I also took home a bag of the tomato basil cheese curds which I didn't like as much as the garlic ones. The tomato ones had a very subtle flavor-- too subtle. There was a line when we got there though it moves relatively quickly and is definitely worth the wait! Overall, I had so much fun picking out so many icecreams and cheeses to taste as well as seeing the cows! I would highly recommend Shtayburne Farm!

A fourth generation dairy farm that excels in cheese and ice cream. We tried the 8 flight. 4 cheeses 4 ice creams. All were delicious. I tried the peach habernero Quark and immediately needed to buy one in the case. Its a super protein and so creamy. I can't wait to pair it with celery sticks for a nice snack. They offer a few coffee drinks as well. I ordered a caramel Americano. Next time I am in the area I will definitely come by again!

Visiting an Alpaca Farm was high on our list of things to do during the spring getaway we had…read moreplanned over the weekend, and Mager Mountain most definitely did not disappoint! I heard about this place from my cousin, who visited during her bachelorette last year. A major draw for me with attraction farms is being able to get up and close with the animals, and with the photos she took it was a safe bet that we'd be able to find that here! In fact, I'd say this is the most intimate I've ever gotten with a farm animal...and I'll explain why. We pulled in to the dirt driveway, a couple of parking spaces between the house and the small shop/farmhouse. The farm is on an older couple's property, but don't feel hesitant! We drove right up and were greeted by the owners, and they were quick to pull the herd from the fields to come and visit us. The owner was very informative, explaining a brief history of alpacas, more about the farm, and more! She even gave us treats to give to the alpacas, little pellets that she told to stick between our teeth. Yep. The alpacas will take the pellets right out of your mouth and give a little 'kiss'. One sneezed in my face, but it's fine. I loved it!! One of the alpacas, "Shakira," also perched over our shoulders and let us take selfies with her! On the farm, you can also shop in their gift shop! It's full of stuff made from alpaca fur. Bit on the expensive side, but that's because alpaca fur is only sheared once a year and that makes it a bit of a rare textile. But you can get a nice pair of theraputic alpaca socks, hats, gloves, sweaters, and more from the shop. I would definitely recommend this farm to anybody looking for an up-close experience with alpacas, and it's absolutely something unique and different to do when in the area!

No one explained where anything was or directed us to things. Pricing in my opinion is a bit high especially for the very few things to do there. They have a nice corn maze but, it's not for their ages really. The attractions they have there are very outdated and for the price they charge they could use it to do a few upgrades. It's been over 9 years since I've been there and it's definitely gone down hill from then and uphill on that cost. Though have to say their restrooms outside were more up to date than the environment there for sure. If I was pricing things I would have it as follows Adults ages 13 and up $15 Ages 5-12 $8-10 and 3-5 $5 and 3 and under Free. That's just my opinion for the attractions. But as you see in pictures I have sign of pricing from there. And last note we had to put our own wristbands on so we could've just walked in and said we lost them in maze if we wanted to do that but we didn't but that shows how much the people pay attention at the point of entrance. And as for a petting zoo there that's a few ducks and one goat. And no food to feed them as those machines had a post it note on it stating "Out of Order!" So, to say we will be back is more towards the NO unless they were to update things and that's update it a lot.
