If you like art, trying local foods in a new place, learning some of the history of the area and having a good time all while walking then this should be on your list. My dad and I did the Findlay Market tour and loved it! Barb is an excellent tour guide. So knowledgeable and has a great relationship with the vendors. We arrived a couple minutes early and got going. I go to Findlay Market quite a bit and I thought the tour was excellent. A good mix of vendors that are staples and vendors that are newer. I just completed a small group food tour of Milford, OH that was planned, organized, and led by Barb Cooper. Barb is always friendly and welcoming. She knows and shares the history of the area being visited with the group verbally and sometimes with photos. Barb visits with the staff of each restaurant who participate in the Food Tour prior to the tour and plans the foods and drinks that will be shared. My husband and I planned a spur-of-the-moment road trip to several Ohio cities for our 10th wedding anniversary, including Cincinnati. We found the listing for Cincinnati Food Tours through a Google search. Since I contacted Barb regarding availability for our August date, she was quickly responsive and accommodating with all aspects of planning for our Food Tour experience. She provided clear information on the parking situation and where to find our tour guide, Amy. Now there's Amy: she was a dynamo and absolute pleasure! Amy was one of the best tour guides we have ever experienced! She was knowledgeable, dynamic, and kept us engaged from the moment we met up with her at Findlay market to when she left us at the last stop. We were fortunate enough to have her to ourselves, and she was attentive to our touristy interests related to the city. The food stops were excellent: French Crust (the LA FCC salad was delicious!); Taft Ale House (for an alehouse, their sauvignon blanc was perfect, along with the awesome beef slider in a rich jus); great tacos at a beautiful Mexican restaurant Mazunte Centro; and the perfect dessert at Aladdin's. Amy went above and beyond to show us the city and describe vital elements of its rich culture and history and provide us with rich information regarding each restaurant. The owner of this company is a very nice lady who is quite the entrepreneur. I think what she's trying to do is great. She utilizes the free tram to take us to some restaurants where we can get a sample of the food. As we're waiting at stops she will tell us some history and some stories which is really great. What we had to eat was a half of a burger. An empanada. A glass of beer or wine. A small dessert at a Mediterranean place. A taco. And I think that was it. The food places were very good. We took the Pendleton tour. Barb was great, full of interesting tidbits about the history of the neighborhood, and the eateries we visited. Loved sampling the fares at the various locations. My husband and I went on the Beyond the Market Tour and it was fantastic! We chose this tour because we hadn't been to any of the potential stops and that was a fantastic choice. Our tour started at Harvest Pizzeria with a margherita pizza and beverage of choice. We then moved onto French Crust (after a quick peek into The Rhined!), for a cup of the creamiest chicken soup I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. We then trekked to Skelton Root which was a hidden gem that we never would have found on our own! We finished off with refreshing BanaSun smoothies! Throughout the tour Barb filled us in with lots of fun trivia and historical reference points. My friend and I were inspired after going on a culinary tour during a recent trip to Charleston, so we decided to be tourists in our own city and check out a Cincinnati tour! We landed on the "Beyond the Market" tour in OTR because we hadn't been to a few of the potential stops, and figured we could learn a thing or two about the OTR history and heritage. We met Barb - the owner of Cincinnati Food Tours - along with two other couples inside Findlay Market, where we made our way to our first stop: Jean-Robert's restaurant, French Crust. I had been wanting to check out one of his restaurants, yet somehow have heard little about French Crust. Having been to Paris, I can honestly say I felt like I had been transported to France. All of the artwork and knick-knacks came straight from Jean-Robert's travels and made the place truly authentic. We spotted a table of diners sipping a cup of coffee while completing a crossword puzzle - I just loved the cozy feel and true sense of a Parisian cafe. We got to sample his Creamy Chicken Soup (YUM) and after peaking at the menu and seeing the VERY affordable pricing, I quickly added French Crust to my must-visit list of brunch spots. Next, we checked out the new Mikey's Late Night Slice. While the restaurant decor definitely has its own personality and quirks (much like their locations in Columbus), we got a guided tour of the basement, which includes the site of a future speakeasy! Our third spot was Skeleton Root, where we got another tour of the facility. Fun fact: did you know Cincinnati was once the wine-making capital of America? (Can't wait to throw that in the winemakers' faces next time I'm in Napa!) They named it "Skeleton Root" because they're trying to bring the vines back to life - how cool is that? We ended on a sweet note at Harvest Pizzeria, which I am not a huge fan of for some reason (based off one previous dining experience). I am not really a dessert fan either, so I could've done without that particular stop, but it did make it a nice well-rounded tour. The main difference I noticed in comparison to our Charleston tour (the only thing I have to compare it to) was the amount of history. Of course, Charleston, by nature, has more history and stories to share, so I won't fault Cincinnati (or the tour) for that. Barb seemed very knowledgeable about the history that the city has to offer, and I'd love to check out another one of our tours! read more

We did our 2nd tour today, Beyond The Market, and it was amazing. Our tour guide was the wonderful Nicki. She was so nice and full of information regarding the history of the city and buildings. We started at French Crust for the chicken mushroom soup- so good!! Pastries looked amazing here as well! Then walked over to Mikey's Late Night Slice for a slice of delicious NY style pizza and an adult beverage from the adjoining bar, Oddfellows. The place is a cool vibe with an eclectic feel of decoration. Highly recommend. We then went to a winery, Skeleton Root, and enjoyed a flight. I highly recommend heading here for a nice sip. We ended at Harvest Pizza for done incredible dessert samples. We had a to die for butterscotch, hazelnut, caramel pudding along with an equally yummy s'mores brownie. If you're looking for something to do in Cincy, I'd highly recommend any of the food tours. I've done the Signature OTR one along with this one. Also have the Streetcar one booked for October. This tour was probably one of my favorite CINCINNATI tours! I've done several Segway tours and beer tours. But this OTR food tour really gave us an insider feel getting great information from restaurant owners etc. Barb gave us some great history during the tour as well. The restaurants, bakery, and bars were perfect! We had more food than we could eat and felt this was a great value for our money. We actually booked a group tour for a celebration and Barb kept it personal for us. If you're looking for something fun, different and interesting do one of these food tours. Our tour was 12 people and it started at 3pm and was an hour and a half. The pace was great and everything but I wish it had started a bit earlier because some of the vendors were torn down or closed by the time the tour ended. Our tour guide was very nice and pleasent. She was hard to hear at times due to the busy nature of the market. To be expected but a little disappointed. I would totally recommend this to anyone visiting or unfamiliar with the market. Not only was the sampling of the different food along the way great, but to meet the shop owners and get a sample of their personalities was a real treat. The tour usually consists of 6 different stops on your tour thru Findlay but Barb has 16 different shop owners that she rotates so your tour can be different each time. Make sure you have plenty of time after as you will want to go back and spend more time with the owners and reach out to shops that were not on the tour that specific day. I spent over $100 on a tour I could have done better. I was very disappointed in my experience. I have done food tours around the United States. We only went to 5 places and one of them was for alcohol/beer. The guide was alright but I just was not impressed. I felt the guide did not know enough about the food that we were eating and also, none of the places we went to really taught us anything about the city, which is one of the primary reasons you go on a food tour. I left the food tour hungry which should never happen when you on a food tour. I may give this company another chance down the road but I would try elsewhere if I were you. read more

Not only did we stop at 5 places (four of which I had never been to), our tour guide gave some history about the market and area. At each stop, the owner of the business came out to tell their story of how the business began and it was so interesting to hear the family business' history, as well as background information about the products they sell. Because of the tour, we discovered a number of exciting new spots we hadn't known about, and Barb was extremely knowledgeable about the food, restaurants, and neighborhoods. My fiancé and I had a blast on this food tour! We have lived in OTR for two years now, would definitely recommend for people who live in OTR and people from outside of the city! Our tour guide, Barb, was so much fun. She had cool facts about the restaurants and some of the local architecture in between restaurants. I learned a lot about our neighborhood from this tour! As OTR residents, we expected to hit some stops on the food tour that we have been before, but every stop we had a menu item we had never had before. This is a great weekend afternoon activity for Findlay Market newbies and frequenters alike! A joint project between Daisy Mae's and Findlay Market, for $15 you get a meal's worth of tasting and a lot of great history about Findlay Market. I'm not going to tell you what I learned, because you should go on the tour, but as someone who is a Findlay frequenter, I still learned new and interesting facts. By the end of the tour, my friends and I were stuffed. If you add $5 you get 4 sizable wine tastings at Market Wines, too! Many of the vendors participate and the tours will rotate the group of vendors for variety- bring your out of town guests or plan a tour on a weekend when you are looking for something a little different to do. read more

This tour was good - don't get me wrong. However, the advertising for the tour is quite misleading. We were given a small ramekin of a pea salad, iced tea, a small chocolate (which was free for anyone who came into that store, not just people on the tour), a pierogi, and about 1/10th of a piece of bread (which was delicious). I really enjoyed the history of the area and listening to the vendors at Findlay Market. However, our tour guide asked us if we were hungry at the very beginning and said we would be stuffed by the end. That was NOT the case. This tour is also only of Findlay Market, which is totally fine - it just doesn't appear that way in the advertising of the tour. We didn't come close to walking 1.5 - 2 miles (more like 4 blocks, maybe?). I think $20 for the entire thing is a good price; I just felt as though the marketing was misleading. read more

Went on a tour with my parents and some of their friends on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We stopped at a wide variety of places, met with each of the store owners and really got an education on the stores history/products as well.
