The design aesthetic of the furnishings at Ciel is eclectic and unique. Think bygone Chinese décor meets trendy/industrial modern reclaimed wood pieces, which is completely up my alley. Each piece is stylish in a 'raw' and 'untouched' way, nicely-made, and has its own story.
I visited twice. The first time, I was awestruck by the Asian-inspired cinnabar colored buffet and the Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel" looking card catalog/ancient Chinese medicine drawers (useful for storing crafts, wine, or whatever you want). The second time, I fell in love with a simple cream, tufted chaise and majestic, wooden shoji screens.
However, being new to the furniture shopping scene, I went in mindlessly without knowing the dimensions of my room or any clue what I would do with these pieces. The staff gladly gave me ideas and wrote down the dimensions. They were informative and provided me the background of each piece, but did not pressure me to make an impulsive purchase.
Bottom line: Shop at Ciel for one-of-a-kind, reasonably priced pieces that will have your visitors saying, "Where did you buy that? I want to go there!" read more
