Today I was asked to leave the Roeland Park, KS location after sitting down for a brief meeting with a local homeowner to review real estate paperwork. We selected this CiCi's because of its convenient location. Within minutes, we were asked if we were doing the buffet. I replied I wasn't very hungry, and my associate asked if there were menu options other than the buffet. We were then told the tables were for buffet customers only and were asked to leave under a "no loitering" policy. The restaurant was largely empty. We were professionally dressed, polite, and fully prepared to make a purchase. Instead of being welcomed as potential customers, we were treated as a problem. When I questioned the interaction, the individual informed me he was the franchise owner. If this is the standard of customer engagement at the ownership level, corporate should be concerned. Policies are one thing -- delivery, discretion, and business judgment are another. There were numerous open tables, and there was no disruption or misuse of space. This was not a case of loitering; it was a case of poor leadership and poor customer handling. I am a member of this community, and my family owns homes and rental properties within blocks of this location. Experiences like this directly damage brand perception and local goodwill. I encourage corporate to evaluate franchise owner training and customer service standards. This interaction reflects poorly on the brand as a whole. read more

So options, check. There was however pretty nice staff that attempted to keep up with the revolving door of fresh baked pizzas with a lunch crowd. The brownie dessert definitely won the award for best food of the day. Just a note, avoid the gaming area, complete money pit. Almost all the games are worthless claw prize games. It's pizza It's good. They usually have alot of choices. The staff is nice and understanding. My complaint is when the store states that it closes at 10pm it should do so. We came in at 8:48pm (i know not the best time) they let us in and we ate. But they were shutting down the buffet at 9pm as they said, then at 9:38pm were were told they need the lobby in 5 minutes (basically asking us to leave so they can get everything put up) They also really did start throwing away food a little after 9pm. I get wanting to leave work but if you close at 10pm....that was unprofessional to do. They even had fresh pizza they threw away. That was a very disappointing visit for us. Honestly while in this restaurant it was possibly the best thing I've ever tasted. I truly believe the atmosphere caused me to devour large amounts of food (17 plates). Service was incredible because they came and cleared our plates before we could realize how many we had and feel bad about ourselves. Although it was so delicious while eating, the moment I walked out of that restaurant I was truly disgusted with myself. I have never felt at a lower point in my life then when I realized I had been tricked by this restaurant into eating my body weight in cheese bread. Pizza is like sex; when it's good, it's good and when it's bad... It's still pretty good. As of this review, this Cici's underwent a recent renovation for a desperately-outdated restaurant. I think it's also under new management too. They installed new tables, booths, and high-top tables. There is also a larger play-area with video games and other things for kids. Their buffet ($6 for adults, $5 for kids at least 4 years old) pumps out cheap and fast pizza that's not bad pizza at all. I measure "value" as quality divided by cost. So here, the pizza is mediocre quality with very low costs. So, you get what you pay for and I paid $6 for about 12 slices (for me it's good value). They also have a good salad bar, noodle bar, and desserts. When you, as an individual or parent, need to hit the easy button for dinner and get a good value for dinner, come to Cici's. read more

I am a sucker for my kids and when they ask to go try a new place, I usually accomodate and haven't gone wrong on their instinct... Until now. OK, so the price for the buffet is REALLY cheap, the quality of the food was even cheaper. We had a little of everything. The Alfredo sauce for the pasta was bland and watery. The pizzas were limited in choice and not very flavorful. The place was busy, but not busy enough for the buffet to repeatedly be running short on pizzas. With the exception of the girl at the register, the staff were aloof and unresponsive. Which also was no surprise the place had all the cleanliness of a Lawrence Frat house during rush week. You know it's bad when my daughter asks if we can go buy frozen pizzas and go home. Now I know this was what it was. Inexpensive and self serve, but if all they had to do was make pizza, they really should have been able to keep the buffet well stocked and the facilities clean. I doubt this place would pass a Health Dept. test. Completely unacceptable. The last bit is not a knock at the staff, but at the weekend clientele. The salad bar was fairly fresh and the thousand island dressing was good. The pizzas were as usual for a Cici's buffet but they were at least fresh. This is by no means a gourmet pizza place. The brownies were moist and decent. The cinnamon rolls needed more icing and the staff said they'd be glad to add new ones. By this point I was just too full to try them.
