He also had to try 4 times for me to have a successful EKG at my physical because the sticky pads kept falling off. I keep going back because his nurse during the day is awesome. She is always friendly and attentive and makes me feel safe even when I doubt him sometimes. They have a nice waiting room with fruit, water, coffee and tea and lots of good magazines (which is helpful when I often have to wait 30-45 minutes even when I am early or on time). I usually have no problem getting last minute appointments.

He has been my primary care physician for 5 years and more. During that time, I have seen him regularly for small complaints, and even a sudden episode of life-threatening high blood pressure. I remember once coming in to see Dr. Hentek with a chest and sinus infection. She saw me, gave me a perscription and left the office. When she came back in the exam room, she noticed I was in pain and couldn't stand. She asked me about it and wrote me a perscription for that as well. . Dr. Hentek saw that I was in pain and treated me for that distress. I'm thankful for her genuine concern. I realized that it didn't occur to me to ask her about anything for my back because I'd been told that the pain would pass by another physician and that I should just take Alieve. I'm a person of color and as such, I've experienced doctors who are hesitant to perscribe pain medication so I subconsiously didn't ask even though I was in the doctor's office. I have changed general physicians though. I had a visit with Dr. Hentek after I'd lost a significant amount of weight 30+ lbs. Dr. Hentek made a comment to me about making an effort to loose more. I shared my regiment and told her about the results I'd had in the previous months and instead of suggesting alternate options she just told me about the negative effects of excess weight and told me to loose more. Of course I have some idea of the negative effects of excess weight otherwise I wouldn't have embarked on the effort I did to loose the weight I had. Physically the doctor is larger than I am so I felt she should be a little more sensitive and construct in offering feedback on weightloss. I was pretty insulted so I'm no longer seeing Dr. Hentek. Not a fan. I saw Dr…read more Merovici for several years, but after a year or two of consistently poor experiences, I switched to a different doctor and have never looked back. The problems I had: 1) Wait time. I often had to wait thirty or more minutes past my appointment time. That wasn't always the case, but it often was, and there were multiple times I waited over an hour. That's not acceptable. If you can't keep on schedule, change the number of people you see per day. 2) Respect. I was a generally healthy young woman, and suddenly I was getting sick all the time. I had the flu several times in a year (really the flu, not just a cold), it was rare that food didn't make me feel a little sick, and I was generally just exhausted. I saw him several times about it, and he didn't take my complaints seriously. (That was the catalyst for my switching doctors - it turned out that I was being regularly exposed to several things I didn't know I was allergic to, which was making my immune system work poorly.) 3) Attentiveness. When I went in with a complaint, he often gave me a prescription but did not always explain why it would work. That bothered me, because even when I asked questions, he often gave me vague responses. This culminated in a procedure done by one of his visiting specialists that he claimed was necessary but which was far more invasive than he'd told me ahead of time, and being unprepared meant that I ended up quite upset at the end. 4) Specialists. While I can understand the benefits of having specialists come into the office one or twice every couple weeks, they were often overbooked, and the few times I tried to see one I was both unimpressed and kept waiting for a very long time (in one case, two and a half hours). I don't recall these things being such big problems earlier on, so maybe they only started to arise after he expanded the office to include many specialists who were there on a part-time basis. Either way, they were consistent problems, and I'm glad I started seeing someone else. Now, I haven't seen Dr. Merovici in about three years, so it's possible that some of these things have resolved themselves. Still, based on the care I received, I would not recommend him.

When you need referrals she personally calls the specialists' office to let them know a patient of hers will be coming over. She helps you get appointments with specialists a lot quicker than you'd be able to by yourself. She is affiliated with Mt. Sinai hospital. Consult is normally $75 or so w/o insurance and she will give you med samples if she has them so you don't have to purchase. Sometimes they can see you same day if its urgent and you're not a first time patient. Very few drs take the time to listen to your concerns...

Dr. Nachamie is a wonderful doctor who helped me through some rough stuff and I recommend her to anyone without reservation.
