What stood out most is that there was no negative interaction beforehand that would have explained the behavior. Even if a greeting was somehow missed, there is no reason a customer should leave without at least hearing "thank you." One employee's poor customer service can easily overshadow the positive work of others, and that's exactly what happened here.
