This was the mint choc chip ice cream specifically requested by my ten yr old companion. A baby cino w/xtra choc went down well!

They know exactly how I like my latte Freddo. The coffee itself isn't that bad at all. The service is a tad slow if you need a takeaway but great place for tasty caffeine fix. I wish the cakes weren't so overpriced.

The Cibo at Norwood is nothing special but it is always packed. It is located conveniently near the main shops and shopping centre, making it a perfect place to stop and have a break before or after shopping. There is limited seating inside and out. This means you often struggle to find a table on the weekends and sometimes during after school rushes. They would do well if they expanded and created a larger indoor seating area. The coffee at Cibo's is always good. It's a good temperature, the perfect flavour and I guarantee it tastes exactly the same every time you go. I know caffeine is slightly addictive, but Cibo coffee is extremely addictive. I start having cravings at about 11am every morning. Cibo at Norwood is convenient. It's fast, tastes good and is in a great location. Even if you just purchase a takeaway I promise it will brighten up your day.

Cibo is an excellent coffee shop, and its consistency across all of its locations is worthy of applause. The Norwood branch is definitely the best one, and this comes down mainly to its atmosphere and location. The ambience at this particular Cibo is much better than others. It's more spacious, has more outdoor seating, and is generally well organised for an al fresco setting. I can't think of a better spot to enjoy a relaxing coffee in the afternoon. The outdoor heating is also a bonus for winter weather, and provides concession for the smokers braving the cold. As for the coffee and food, it's not too different from any of the other Cibo stores - and this is definitely a good thing! The coffee is superb and the food is reasonably priced and delicious - especially the piadinas and focaccias. The only downside I can think of may be that service is a little slower here, as it can get quite busy during the afternoon and early evening. On the other hand, the staff is always polite and friendly, and are quick to clean up dirty tables. There aren't enough faults to deprive Cibo of a single star.

Normally at weddings the cake is barely touched, however I defy anyone not to eat their slice of a Heidleberg Cake. There cakes are also very reasonably priced starting at a little over $30. My boyfriend had the most amazing cake at his 21st birthday and after discovering that he ordered it from Heidelberg's, without hesitation I decided to order one for my own 21st birthday party. Heidelberg Cakes produces made-to-order cakes, specialising in weddings and parties. There are a variety of cake flavours, which are all amazingly delicious and in order to help you decide what flavour you want, they offer free samples of their cakes. I ended up going for the chocolate and caramel cake. There are also a huge number of themes and designs to choose from, which was great for me as I had a themed birthday party. The service was also top notch and very professional. My cake was also delivered by Heidelberg's staff to the party's venue, just before it started. All of my guests greatly enjoyed the cake, and I can't wait until I have another occaision which calls for me ordering a cake from Heidelbergs!

Duffy's Bakery was always a favouite and it is still really good. The shop is a bit smaller than it used to be, but the contents are just as good with everything a growing boy needs.....unfortunately lately I have found that I am growing horizontally rather than vertically. I am a particular fan of their Sausage Rolls and Pizza Pies, but the Potato Pie satisfys many a taste bud also. It's not a particularly big store, but it is chock full of delicious bakery items. It has all the usual suspects (sausage rolls, pasties and a huge range of pies) and also stocks every type of biscuit, cake and bun you could imagine. I love the apricot slice and my son's a fan of the snowballs (jelly cake, rolled in coconut and filled with cream) - special occasions only, of course. I also loved the display of edible meringue people. They've started making the Christmas ones already. It's a little pricier than some of the franchise bakeries, but I like to think I'm buying quality and supporting an independent when I shop here. The staff are friendly and seem to manage to serve people in order, even when there are a dozen or so people squeezed in. If you're not doing a mad lunch-on-the-run, there are a couple of casual tables and chairs strewn out the front where you can savour your baked goods.

Presentation was on point, and the desserts were very satisfying! My favorite was the waffle!! I didn't think it was too sweet. The other 2 did get a little too much in the end, but we finished most of it. Would go back to try other things on the menu. Keep in mind minimum order is one item per person. Fear not, I'm here to spill the goss on Adelaide's latest dessert spot (set to lose it's title very soon I'm sure as another dessert opening is always round the corner). The two chefs behind Astonish are Le Cordon Bleu (or LCB to us TAFE kiddies) graduates, originally working in kitchens in Sydney. It really feels like a lot of work and love has gone into this place, and the overall appearance of the store is gorgeous. But hey, as a few other dessert bars around town have shown, it's not all about atmosphere. If you want to have a great dessert bar, well in my books you need great desserts. Astonish try their hardest, and I'm pretty happy with the results. The menu features two sections. The simple things like cakes, tarts, & mousses, and then the more extravagant dine in menu. The smaller stuff is around the $7 mark, but the dine in menu is a little more expensive and will set you back about $12-$18. There are some very interesting (and delicious options), but I did find a few elements of the dishes didn't quite work. The panna fire was an interesting and delicious dish, with a bombe alaska and a slab of vanilla panna cotta. But as a combo they didn't quite work, and would have probably been better as their own stand out dishes. But the giant profiterole on the other hand was amazing, with a crumble on the outer shell that gave great mouth feel, and a filling of ice cream and caramelised banana. YUM. I think Astonish is stil finding their feet, but their desserts are well thought out, with enough pizazz to stay interesting but without going too crazy and alienating some diners. Is it worth the extra price tag? I think so, but I believe that there are a few dessert bars around Adelaide that are worth a lot more than what you already pay.
