After understanding our goals and our situation, we were presented with options, no slick sales pitch. We made a list of things that we needed to work on and a very accurate estimate was developed. We were handled with great empathy and care. We were dealt with gently and with respect. When the day of the service came we were met immediately at the parking lot and given every conceivable form of assistance imaginable (carrying in items, research, phone calls, menus, refreshments, poster board, etc.). We were gently guided through the day's program and kept on schedule. The memorial was broadcast (and recorded for out of town friends and relatives who couldn't attend) over the internet. When we paid the bill, there were no surprises. They took a lot of the sting out of a sad sad overwhelming time. Thanks to Kevin, Mike, Justin, Ray, and the whole team.

In September, our family entrusted Chapel Memorial Funeral Home (CMFH) with the arrangements for my…read moremother-in-law's final services. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing, marked by a lack of professionalism, empathy, and organization. At a time when families are most vulnerable, CMFH failed to provide the compassion and integrity one should expect from a funeral home. Our family initially met with a gentleman who was courteous but not authorized to make final decisions. We were told we needed to meet with Valerie, the funeral director, to finalize arrangements and ensure we could stay within our very limited budget. When the meeting day arrived, Valerie showed up 20 minutes late and was completely unprepared. From the start, her demeanor lacked empathy and professionalism. During our discussion, she made an inappropriate remark about her colleague, stating, "He's a man and doesn't know what needs to be done" when referring to the preparation (makeup) for our loved one. This comment was not only unprofessional but highly insensitive, especially to a grieving family just days before the funeral. Regarding pricing and services, we were charged for the use of a 32" ONN television to display a memorial video. The fee was explained as covering both the equipment and dedicated technical support. However, the person assigned as "technical support" -- who was also managing the funeral service -- had no technical expertise. She did not know how to connect a laptop with a cable, and I had to personally request one twice. The only method she attempted was using a USB stick, which the monitor couldn't read. This made the charge unjustifiable and added unnecessary stress during an already emotional event. After finalizing our selections, Valerie provided a written quote. We reviewed all the details together, signed the paperwork, and left to obtain payment. While en route to the bank, I received a call from her stating that she had made a "calculation error" and was increasing the total by $1,100. The tone was dismissive and unapologetic -- no acknowledgment of the inconvenience or her mistake. When we returned to deliver payment and the clothing for preparation, Valerie avoided contact altogether. Her office manager -- the Office Manager, who also handled "technical support" -- processed everything. On the day of the funeral, Valerie remained out of sight, never once checking in with the family. At the gravesite, without prior coordination, the attendants instructed the pallbearers to face the mourners and speak -- something the family had never requested or approved. Following the service, a blanket with our loved one's image was presented to the family. While it appeared to be a thoughtful gesture, we know it was not without a cost and even an offer to purchase additional copies. This left a terrible impression, as if the family's grief had been turned into a sales opportunity, despite our clearly stated budget limitations. In summary, the facilities and service quality do not justify the cost. Valerie did do a commendable job with the physical preparation of my mother-in-law -- she was presented beautifully and as we had hoped. Unfortunately, that was the only positive aspect of our experience. Chapel Memorial Funeral Home's lack of empathy, accountability, and professionalism made an already painful time even more difficult. I would not recommend this funeral home to any family seeking respectful, compassionate, and honest service during their time of loss.

As professionals entrusted with arranging a memorial service for a young person in our care, we were searching for a funeral home that would treat this child (and everyone involved) with dignity, compassion, and respect. From the moment we walked into Prospect Memorial, we knew we had found exactly that. Kim welcomed us into a private space where we could gather our thoughts and discuss every detail without feeling rushed. She has a remarkable ability to make people feel seen and supported during unimaginable circumstances. Throughout the entire planning process, she met us with patience, kindness, and genuine empathy. We later learned that Kim's background as a nurse has clearly shaped the way she cares for families. Her compassion extends far beyond logistics. She thoughtfully guided us through decisions we never wanted to have to make, offering recommendations that honored this child's unique life and circumstances, including helping us find an appropriate cemetery and coordinating beautiful floral arrangements. What I'll remember most is the way Kim cared not only for the child we were honoring, but also for those of us carrying the responsibility of planning the service. She repeatedly reminded my colleagues and me that our hearts were in the right place and that our efforts mattered. Those words may seem small, but during an incredibly heavy time, they meant more than I can express. The service itself was beautiful. The funeral home is immaculate, modern, and thoughtfully designed, creating a peaceful environment for remembrance. Every member of the staff was attentive, respectful, and quietly ensured that everything unfolded seamlessly. They allowed us to focus on honoring this young life instead of worrying about the countless details behind the scenes. I sincerely hope I never find myself in a position where I need to plan another child's funeral. But if I ever need funeral services for a loved one, personally or professionally, I would not hesitate to return to Prospect Memorial. Kim and her entire team provided extraordinary care during one of the most difficult moments imaginable, and I will always be grateful for the compassion they showed to everyone involved. I hope this review conveys even a fraction of the gratitude we feel toward Kim and her team. They helped make an impossible task just a little more bearable, and that is something I'll never forget.

They wheeled him out to the van that was parked underneath the overhang. As they were pushing the gurney with the body strapped to it into the back of the van the legs wouldn't collapse. Instead of trying to fix it they just kept trying to slam it harder and harder into the rear bumper hoping that eventually it would collapse and they could slide the body in. Meanwhile all of this is happening in front of all of his family who was just with him when he passed. Finally after slamming it back-and-forth into the bumper for about 20 minutes, they decided to unstrap him from the gurney and slide the body into the van without the gurney. They were then proceeded to put the gurney in the back of the van on top of the body until we told them they better not. When asked about what just happened by a relative the funeral employee lied to her. I'm not sure he realize we were all watching the entire time. The next issue was when they released the obituary without proofreading it and had his mothers name wrong and his job wrong. It took over a day for them to fix the issue in the obituary that was already published online. I will say that the wake went without incident.Parking is very tight there.
