Last night was our 3rd visit to this location. My son requested it for his birthday dinner. We really like everything about dining here. Here's my breakdown.
Fridays and Saturdays, there seems to always be a wait. Expect about 20 minutes. Wednesday night, however, there was no wait.
Jane was our waitress and she was AWESOME! We will be asking to be sat in her section next time.
Chips, salsa and green sauce was promptly delivered and refilled. We love their green sauce. Their red salsa is fresh and delicious but last night it was a little spicy for me.
It was 10 minutes before the end of Happy Hour, so I ordered a house margarita. It was delicious and didn't taste like it was a mix. Mixes tend to give me headaches for some odd reason. It wasn't strong at all and could have been mistaken for a virgin drink.
I'm a water with lime girl, and they brought me plenty of limes, which I liked.
My Husband usually gets the Steak Burrito w/ hatch sauce on the side, which is:
A handmade, 12" flour tortilla stuffed with sliced grilled steak & cheese, topped with spicy Hatch Green Chile sauce. Served with green chile rice & charro beans. The Hatch sause is SPICY but the burrito is delicious. Yes, we're "that family" that takes bites off of each other's plates. :op
Last night my husband got one of the Famous "big as your face" Beef Fajita Burritos which is:
A homemade, 12" flour tortilla stuffed with refried beans, cheese and your choice of the following. Served with your choice of sauce & your choice of Mexican rice or
green chile rice. He said it was delicious.
All 4 times we've eaten at Chuy's so far, I always get the same thing; Baja Tacos, grilled, one of each (one shrimp, one fish). Last night they didn't have the fish prepped so I had to get two shrimp. Awe shucks! Oh well, they were freaking delicious, as usual. The Baja Tacos is:
Freshly made flour tortillas with your choice of lightly battered and fried fish or shrimp, cilantro, red cabbage and Creamy Jalapeño. Something about the crunchy sweet cabbage and the cream Jalapeno sauce just puts this over the edge. I suggest you squeeze a little lime on them too.
And my OH SO predictable son got the chicken quesadillas. Yeah, you know what's in those, but they put onion and green chillies too. He thinks they are the best he's ever had, next to mine of course.
Now, as I've said this was my son's birthday dinner, so I was sneaky and told the waitress. She brought out some complimentary sopapillas (that were the best we'd ever had) with a burning tortilla strip in it for a candle. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't awkward, uncomfortable and embarrassing for him. I wanted the singing, maybe a Mexican hat put on him, SOMETHING! But we got sopapillas with a lit tortilla strip. :o/ Oh well, it was still all good. read more
