Having tried both churro stands- this one up north and the other one in the RZ (fine)- and the little restaurant that sells churros in the RZ (pretty but overpriced), my resounding BEST CHURRO IN PV! vote lands here. $3 pesos each. Relatively new to churros, my previous experiences all involved topping with Hershey's Chocolate syrup. Which I was skeptical about... but then determined that on top of churros might be the only place where that banal, says-it's-chocolate-but-it's-really-just-brown-sugary-junk *makes sense and adds value.* Thus conditioned, I was a bit bummed that they didn't have any chocolate syrup at churro stand #2. But then you eat a proper churro. And you understand that syrup is not necessary. Maybe it's like eating pizza in Italy for the first time, in which your fundamental understanding of pizza is resoundingly shifted? If you are staying in the centro of Vallarta or don't want to make the trek to the romantic zone churro stand this is another option. The stand operates behind the supermarket Ley on the corner calle Uruguay and Calle Peru. Times are Inexact given that this is a street vendor but they operate only in the evenings from 5pm on. Churros cost 2 pesos per 6 inch piece of churro. Surprisingly there is not many churro options in town so this hit the spot. I walked over several times on my trip. I freaking love this family and their churros! They come Tuesday nights for sure, at 6pm behind Ley's grocery store. They set up with a propane tank, hot oil and fresh churro dough, so keep a look out as it's not a full stand or food truck. The churros are as fresh as you can get, and cheap cheap cheap! I got 10 sticks for only 25 pesos last time! If you live in PV or are just visiting, definitely make a quick stop for some crispy, sugary goodness! read more
