I had my usual flat white plus a slice of blueberry banana bread. Sonny had a cold latte and brekkie sandwich while grandson had a banana smoothie. My coffee was delicious, with the usual artistic design on top. The generous slice of blueberry banana bread was heated and came with a pat of butter and a tiny ramekin of honey. I dunked a piece in the honey but honestly liked it better without. The smoothie was large, and I thought it might be too much for grandson. Since they use paper straws, he did need another one when the first one collapsed, but managed to drink most of it. Sonny's bacon and egg roll was a perfect soft-cooked egg with spinach, avocado and of course bacon on a soft bun. He didn't comment on it, so he must have liked it. It looks a bit like a hole in the wall kind of place, but the drinks and food we had were on point.

Extra points for having powdered coco on top instead of chocolate. Ordered the poached eggs with bacon and spinach which ticked every box a bacon and eggs should. My mates got other things on the menu which looked just as good. There is also a sweets cabinet for those coming here in the afternoon or who can justify eating a Cronut at 9am. Sadly I am not one of those people and so could only look longingly at the cupcakes, brownies and Cronuts- but I am determined to be back to get one! The atmosphere is really relaxed and welcoming. All the tables are recycled spools (I think that is what they are called??) and the chairs have padding made of coffee bean sacks. It's well put together and works for this industrial, beaches location. All the staff are heaps chilled and friendly which only adds to everything. If you are after a be good cafe in Mona- this is the place!

Located at the Marina…read moreat Bayview, you'd be forgiven for missing this cafe from the street as it sits on the waterfront side of the building. Entry is from the small car park to the left side of the building (not the main council car park located to the right). I visited on a cold and rainy day, possibly the worst time to take advantage of the location, and it was still lovely. Warmed by an outdoor heater, the seating is outdoor undercover. Orders are placed at the counter, but food is delivered to the table. Seating is comfortable but not luxurious. The staff were very friendly and highly attentive. The menu is all day breakfast or lunch, prices aren't cheap but based on quality of fare I would say they are reasonable. I ordered a full breakfast consisting of bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, toast and hash brown. The menu price was $20 which is at the upper end of what I'd expect to pay for a cafe breakfast. I asked for them to hold the hash brown as I didn't want it. What arrived was a mountain of good food. 3 full bacon rashers, 2 sunny side up eggs, 2 beef sausages, 3 slices of premium loaf toast, a halved grilled tomato and sauted mushroom. I have to assume they added extra bacon in lieu of the hash brown because there was no room left on the plate for anything else. It was delicious, pure and simple. Perhaps it was the cold weather, perhaps it was the cosy warmth of the heater, perhaps it was waiting until midday for breakfast. Even accounting for all those things, the food was delicious. The bacon was premium quality, the eggs were free range, the sausages were gourmet, everything was cooked perfectly. We asked for a coffee and that came in a big mug, ready to warm the hands, perfectly suited to the day. Maybe it was a one off to have such a good experience, and it helps when you're not expecting it, but I will be heading back here.

I would've given this place 4 stars, but the egg & prosciutto sandwich is DELICIOUS--soft bun with a fried egg, prosciutto, tomato, spinach, and some kind of amazing aioli-type sauce. So it deserves 5 stars. Will definitely visit this place every time I'm in Newport!

I think the best thing about the cafe is the food. Very limited menu, but still they make everything quite well. For me the best thing is the smash Avo with poached eggs. Seriously cannot go wrong with this - specifically as anything will grilled haloumi is always awesome. The coffee is good but not great. My cup was a touched over brewed, in other words the water was too hot giving off a bitter taste. But still better than most. The staff here is really friendly. There is no stable service, but actually makes the place a lot more efficient. As I said this place in intimate so they do not have many tables. Clearly everyone else knew about this place because there is always a a couple people hanging around. They serve allpress beans and dish up quite a good cuppa for 'burbs coffee'- in fact it's the best coffee I've found in Avalon so far. I came here after a post beach lunch and went for the spinach, goat cheese, cherry tomato and avocado on rye toast which was pretty awesome- a solid half a star of this rating is attributed to that super tasty rye bread alone. They also do fresh juices- I tried the pineapple, mint, ginger and something juice which was pretty tasty. They staff were really chilled and friendly and the guy didn't care at all that I changed my order like 3 times. They were also going above and beyond to help give a recommendation to a couple not from around here about a nice restaurant in the area. This place is generally busy, so you might not be able to get a seat - saying that it is also extremely small. But it is worth having a seat and trying food. Not only is it reasonable priced, but you get good portions and the food is good. I will definitely be coming here again when I am up in the Northern Beaches. Now as I stated, it is crowded and so you might have to wait for a bit for the food - but trust me it is worth the wait. The coffee is not the best in the Beaches, but it is not bad either - saying that after I went to Coffee Brothers to get my caffeine fix, but I have been told many times that I am a coffee snub... so you might think that is the best thing that you have tried in your life.
