I'm leaving this review based on my firsthand experience during a church trip and my interactions…read morewith the pastor, his wife, and the group's leadership. Before the trip, my girlfriend and I were told that we would be allowed to stay together in a tent. However, later during the trip, that arrangement changed. The pastor said he didn't want us staying in the tent because he was concerned about what might happen between my girlfriend and me. This was especially strange to me because there were four of us staying in the tent. He also made a comment implying that having other people in the tent would not have stopped him personally. Honestly, I found that comment disgusting and extremely inappropriate. Hearing a pastor make a comment like that, especially in that context, made me very uncomfortable and changed the way I viewed him as a leader. We were also threatened with being kicked out and were told we might have to get on a speedboat in complete darkness around midnight. The pastor's wife told us that the situation was becoming too dangerous and that they did not want to send their leaders out to deal with it. The way this was communicated felt extremely dismissive and hostile rather than caring about our safety. The situation became even worse when the pastor yelled at my girlfriend for around an hour and made her cry. During the argument, he called her a fake Christian. I eventually told him that he needed to apologize to her. Instead, he told me that I needed to apologize for him because he was too busy to do it himself. I found that extremely disrespectful, especially considering that he was the person who had caused the situation in the first place. The following day, the pastor's wife pulled my girlfriend aside and told her that she needed to break up with me. She called me a terrible person and a loser and told my girlfriend that she was setting herself up for failure because I was raised not Christian. I found it deeply inappropriate for church leadership to involve themselves in our relationship and attempt to influence my girlfriend into breaking up with me. There were also things I witnessed that made me uncomfortable with the way the group approached religion and fear. At one gathering, a young person was having a panic attack after speaking in front of a crowd while dealing with the loss of their parents. The pastor brought up the devil during the situation and encouraged people to reaffirm their faith because of what had happened. Given that the person was already going through a difficult and emotional moment, I felt that the situation could have been handled with more compassion and sensitivity. At another meetup, the pastor said that girls are not as close to God and that they have to speak through their man. That was another statement that I found deeply concerning and disrespectful. Overall, my experience was not one of feeling welcomed, supported, or spiritually encouraged. I experienced what felt like intimidation, public pressure, personal attacks, interference in relationships, and leadership using fear to influence people. I also left with concerns about the group being heavily focused on money, although I recognize that this is my personal impression rather than something I can prove. I'm not writing this review because I disagree with Christianity or because I expect everyone to share my beliefs. I'm writing it because of how I personally experienced the behavior of the leadership. People deserve to be treated with respect, especially when they are vulnerable or upset. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering getting involved with this church to pay close attention to how the leadership treats people who disagree with them or question their decisions.

It's a big church but the congergation is baptist style. I know people who didn't like and people who do. God directed me to attend another church. On two separate occasions, our church rented the Convention grounds for an "All Church Camping…read moreTrip". (Which actually involved much more than just "camping"). We had well over 100 people attend each of these weekends, and they were a huge success. One of the greatest advantages for our purposes is that all kinds of accommodations were available: camping sites for both Tents & RVs (some with full hookups), private cabins, rooms in the small lodge, and even bunk-house style accommodations. And some of our people who just have to stay in a motel found suitable lodging in nearby Salem. The facility definitely is old and rustic, but very functional. (And each time we went, we saw improvements with cabins being remodeled, new walkways being poured, etc.) We felt that the grounds were "family-friendly", because kids were pretty safe to roam around the whole property. We played volleyball, basketball, frisbee.... We used the main hall for dining and for a gathering place for those who wanted to play Board Games. The little kids enjoyed the playground equipment. And because we were there when the weather was nice (early September), lots of people had fun tubing in Mill Creek. And then we were able to use the group campfire area at night and enjoy a community "sing-along". The staff was quite helpful, both before and during the event, and we were able to make arrangements to use the kitchen to prepare a large community dinner for our group on one of the nights. We did look at some other locations before choosing to stay here. Most other places did not have the variety of housing options. Some of the places had more "amenities", but the price usually was much higher. For our purposes, this was a great location at a very appropriate price. We definitely will go back!

The camp site was very boring. There was not any fire pits by our camps or cabins we had rented. Also the center has a huge church, that we were not allowed to have Sunday service in. It really seamed they were very for profit and not so christian hearted. No paved pathways, and it is not wheelchair accessible, unlike the web site leads.

But that's exactly what transformation requires. I have never met pastors who genuinely walk out what they preach the way Pastor Brad and Jenni do. Jenni has always made me feel seen, heard, supported, and cared for through some of the hardest seasons of my life. They don't just preach from a stage... they walk alongside people. I'm living proof of this. Jenni is not only my pastor, but also a mentor, sister, best friend, safe place, and someone I deeply treasure. The love, wisdom and care she pours into people is rare. No church is filled with perfect people, because we are all human but this is the first place where I truly felt authenticity, love, accountability, and the presence of God working through people in a real way. He clearly is called to teach and share his testimony. I wrote the above text over a year ago and I am in the works now to become an official member of the church. It's so refreshing to find fellowship focused on prayer, the community and love to help out here on the home front but as well as over seas in Zimbabwe. I also enjoy that service starts at 10:30am Sundays which gives me a chance to sleep after my work week. I've been to many churches but must say there is something special about this one that just feels like home.
