We probably were not what you might say the type of people that might have looked as if we belonged there, but we were welcomed with open arms and felt like part of the family of God right away. At the time we began going, my husband connected with our Junior pastor, and they began working together with a bible study for children. Hear we are some 20 years latter and over the years we have seen our wonderful Junior Pastor, become a senior pastor leading his flock in the way of a full bible based church, teaching us through bible study outreach in different homes, leading us in prayer groups on Wednesday evenings and giving us a great example of what a christian looks like. Now even after this pastor has stepped down to retirement he is still very active in the church. We now have a new and wonderful pastor who was attending our church for quite some time before all of the church members voted for him to step in and lead us further in the word of God. Feel free to come in and find your family and learn about your God and his love for the church, not just our church but any bible based christian church that is out their. We would love to share our church with you. I do pray that you would come in and see for your self , rather than taking my word for it. Be blessed in whatever you do according to our Lord Jesus.

One of these people was a guy named Matt, whom we all later on learned was one of the pastors. We were led to where the food line was. The people serving were very friendly and definitely not stingy with portions. All of the meats were served piping hot, and the salads cool and tasty. There seemed to be a lot of interesting activities going on for the kids. I saw tractor rides, bouncy houses, coloring, photo booths, and even homemade ice cream! A very yummy and appreciated treat on a hot day. While sitting under the shade tree relaxing, a woman named Lori came up to us and started chatting with us. Turns out Lori is Matts wife, the guy that originally greeted us when we first arrived. A little while later Matt joined Lori as well as their middle daughter. I found all of them very genuine and personable and down to earth "humans", not "stuffy" and "snobby" like other clergy I have ran into over the years. They wound up chatting with us for about an hour, very willing to help answer some questions and share stories. Even their daughter seemed to be very well grounded, appreciative and level headed, a rare thing to find in today's teens and young adults. A little while later a Justin guy joined us to say hi. Justin was also very friendly and personable. All of these nice folks invited my husband and I back for next Sundays picnic. Never once did I feel pressured to attend a service; nothing like some places where it was "If you DON'T attend a service, you're going straight to Hell" stuff. Later on Lori came back up to me with a friend and they invited me to a womans Bible study. This was based on questions I had earlier asked Lori, not because they were trying to "recruit" me into some church going study thing. I told them I wound think about it and get back to them soon. I could not tell you what one of their services is like because I have not attended but I can say that if they indeed do practice what they preach then this may be a church I wind up regularly attending. After I attend a service I will update my ratings. I did not think it would be fair to give 5 stars without first seeing what they offered inside of the church.

I will say the building and grounds are lovely and I met many kind welcoming people, but I was unable to continue because of the Senior Minister Reverend Rick Davis. I was shocked by his intolerance and arrogance. He demonstrated no interest in my perspective or even having me in the community. My motivation for writing this review is so that others might have a heads ups. It is painful to go in with an open heart only to find you are not welcome. They light a candle for social justice - at the same time Rick - makes it clear he is talking about " sins of the past" and that unless you are for the current middle-of-the-road status quo that keep old white southern men like himself as the deciders- you are against the organization. It was strange because he presents himself as a follower of Buddha and Jesus, in this low-key non-commital way. His focus was on fundraising from elders in the community. It was clearly the way he makes a living, in a real low energy manner- like when you don't like your job. He only showed passion when speaking against the anti-racist, social justice movement. The bottom line is unless this guy leaves, I do not recommend it at all. Unless you are looking for a confused angry leader who is fighting against the future.
