I have slowed down since then but still do some chair caning. To that end , I purchased 1 bunch of narrow medium cane Sept 2012 order # 358559. Price with shipping was $43.70. The cane was not the usual good quality I was used to from your store. Many strands were unusable & all had the black break mark. I called about it & talked to Ray the owner. That's what I was told. He said he could not discount that order, but would give me a discount on my next order. I just got my next order dated 9/28 Inv 752360, acct # 012696. I explained to the salesperson what Ray had told me about a discount. The cost was not discounted & actually went up $47.90. (same cane) I know times are not the same now as back in the 80's, but I do expect to be able to take HH Perkins at their word. Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated. R Hull

I surprisingly experienced some really poor customer service at this business…read more I sent an order of 4 thousand negatives and slides and asked to have 3 small test sets of the same 9 frames done first, to decide what I would like, 1 set 8 bit JPG, 1 set 16 bit TIF, and 1 set 16 bit 'flat' TIF. After surprisingly having to explain what a flat image is to a photo shop, they seemed to understand. But the 'flat' scans they sent me back were identical to the other normally processed 16 bit TIF default scans. They also failed to remove sharpening and grain reduction from the flat scan, which I specifically requested. Ok fine, they made a mistake, no big deal.. So I politely asked them to fix this one set of the flat scams (9 frames only!) and I even spent time to look up the two contrast settings they needed to adjust in the Noritsu software to get a flat scan. (Note I've never used Noritsu but it was easy to look up). Mike Ross the owner then phoned me and was so angry I could barely get a word in or finish a sentence. He seemed to suggest I was changing the order when I was simply helping them after it was apparent they didn't understand a flat scan, which is a pretty fundamental concept in scanning, nor did they even give me a 16 bit TIFF with no sharpening or grain reduction. Luckily this occurred on the test set and not the main order so I can send the negatives to a more knowledgeable (and hopefully pleasant to deal with) lab. I honestly don't understand how someone stays in business with this type of belligerent communication with customers.

I worked primarily with Janice in the show space on South Main St. She showed me differences in models and lines while patiently answering my questions over the course of a few weeks. I was surprised at the detailed process we went through when I finally decided on what I wanted and sat down with her to go through the order itself. Janice went through every choice from windows to gable vents to locations and sizes of windows and doors. After waiting 3 weeks for the shed to be built in pieces, the assembly crew showed up on the appointed day right on time. Jose, Edvin, and Celso arrived at 9am, and got to work quickly, assembling the shed in a little more than 6 hours. Other than a short break for lunch, they worked steadily, kept things neat, and cleaned up after they were done. The finished product is well-constructed. Within hours of the assembly crew heading back to NY, it started to rain in CT for the next 36 hours. My town received close to 5" of rain, yet the shed was bone dry inside, much to my relief. From beginning to end, I'm very happy with the service and final product, and I'd highly recommend Best in Backyards to anyone in the market for a storage shed.

Upon checking the scans, I discovered that there were 4 missing images. However, there were 41 scans provided. Oddly a very similar negative was scanned instead of the requested photo. And, this negative was inserted in the "missing photo" sleeve. Bottom line, my important negative was lost. I emailed the imaging specialist to see if he had misplaced the photo. Before I realized this loss, I brought the 4 missing negatives back to Milford Photo to be scanned. Shockingly. The scans were soft and missing detail. I called the imaging specialist, about these "bad scans". He proceeded to raise his voice and said that my negatives had deteriated. I proceeded to take the negatives to a very respected photo lab in NYC. I also showed the Milford Photo scans. They told me the negatives were scanned on the emulsion side. To be fair, I sent a detailed email to the specialist updating him about the scans and also asked him to look for my missing negative. He never replied. No apology, no compensation. Very unprofessional.
