Over the years we've built great relationships, our kids love the children's ministry, and the preaching is solid.

It was very evident that your work is to do (at your church) and that is not the work of the God we serve. Galatians 2:20-21 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. There was nothing but a 10 min message and a guest taking about some organization (which seem for a good cause but that is just part of an announcement - for it should be)

I attended this church from about 6 years old until high school. On an average week, I would spend…read moreat least 10 to 15 hours a week at this place, including multi-day revivals, Saturday prayer mornings, Wednesday nights, and of course, Sunday mornings, not to mention additional holiday events. My mom and I started attending this church and upon our first visit, we were approached and invited to lunch with an "elder", who began courting my mom and ended up marrying her, against my will. Suffice to say, this man was not a godly man, and the church treated our family like outcasts instead of helping me. I was made fun of by the youth group and called a loner, was ignored, isolated, and humiliated to sit on the front row of this church with my "family", yet we were cordially ignored and avoided, eventually being asked to leave the church. It always confused me, how people who sang about helping others, grace, helping the helpless, chose to turn their backs on me. When I finally had the strength to leave Irving in 2008, I called my so called pastor of this church to seek guidance, support and finally use my voice and share the truth, something that I had not been able to do since 6 years old. No matter how many times I called his office, how many messages I left, I was repeatedly told he was busy, or unavailable. I even reached out to his family, which was of no use. It broke my heart, that a place that boasted they were so full of God's spirit, could reject our family instead of intervening. An entire organization who Saw ME as an embarrassment instead of being an advocate for a defenseless little girl. I can never again take this church seriously as they have put their money where their mouth is and have shown me for over a decade, their true colors. My advice would be hard pass. Like most churches, they will have modern affects. Fresh coffee. Bright, shiny smiles. Even wonderful people who are being unknowingly exploited for free labor AKA serving, however the "warm fuzzy" feeling that coats you as you walk in isn't the holy spirit. It's a song and dance to get you to fund their illusion and kush lifestyle. So incredibly sad that the gaudy, prideful and arrogant people of this church never took the time to see I needed help, that my mom was too worn down and emotionally weak to take care of me and leave the "Elder". We were surrounded a sea of religious leaders who never intended to get their pretty shoes dirty. Thanks for everything, Calvary Church, what a gem!

Very helpful in getting our children checked in and ready for church. Now on to worship, if you want to experience Jesus in a new, exciting way, this is your place! Everyone in the room felt the presence of God. Next, the message. OUTSTANDING! The pastor's wife preached tonight, and she did well communicating with the people in the room. Lastly, the atmosphere. Very comfy, modern, warm and welcoming. Everyone is extremely nice! The groups range from young, teenage, hipster kids to your elder, sweet, and adorable grown ups. Although we live in Fort Worth, I believe we have found our church home. By the way, we attended the 5 p.m. service on a Sunday. This is everything I've ever wanted in a church!

It was really lovely to see people worshipping The Lord with no boundaries and no care for what others think - just true authentic worship. With that said, there are a few things that set off alarm bells for me. 1 of them being the save seats culture here, we arrived 30 min early and people had ENTIRE rows saved. If I had been a first-time church goer, this would absolutely make me stay away from church. It was SO discouraging to see people saving seats in mass quantities, it came off very cliquey and NOT of The Lord. Church should be like a welcoming place for everyone. Secondly, the way in which tongues are spoken and encouraged felt like a huge red flag. The way tongues were being spoken - did not align with the bible in ANYWAY. I fully believe in the gifts of the spirit, but it felt like the singers were just shouting them out all willy nilly and it didn't feel genuine. It felt like it was being used as a way to draw attention to themselves. When it was time for an alter call, one of the singers encourage everyone to make sounds and speak in tongues to the Lord. This is promoting a very unhealthy practice. Not everyone has this gift and as it states in the bible - if done in public, there should be a translator. Lastly, I realize that the normal pastor was not preaching this day but the man who did preach probably gave the absolute worst sermon Ive ever hear. It was basically him ranting for an hour about how you need to keep your eyes on jesus. And while i greatly appreciated the basis of the message. there was no scripture and he was ALL OVER THE PLACE...telling stories that didnt tie back into the general message. If someone had come to church, hungry for the word of God.. they wouldnt have recieved it and that is a huge problem. Not to mention him saying that Jesus dying on the cross for our sins was not the whole gospel.... I'm sorry what? I truly believe God is moving in this place but I also believe this entire congregation is promoting a feelings-based relationship with God and that is so dangerous.
