Back when my family and I moved to the south shore we began searching for the best dentist for our children. We stumbled upon this place and thought it looked great so me made an appointment. On the day of the visit everything was fine , I checked my daughter in while my husband waited in the waiting room. My daughter has always had issues with her teeth , cavities, weak gums ext . As the dentist was examining my daughters teeth he began shaking his head and sucking his teeth. That's when the criticizing began . He began to judge me as a parent and as a mother. "You need to be stronger with her" " A mother is always on top of her children" "Be a better parent this is not the way to do it" " if you eat less sweets you will even look better" all this to me and my then 8 year old. I was so heart broken and devastated that I trusted this doctor to help me with my daughters issue and instead he chose to judge me and criticize my parenting skills. I never took my babies back. I did find a great dentist in Norwood where we later found out my daughter had Enamel hypoplasia. It makes children's enamel very soft and prone to damage! I hope people see this and think twice before paying this place a visit!

Just an FYI to parents. Smileland pediatric dentist formerly Connors Pediatric Dental in Norwood…read more We have been bringing out now 6 year old to Dr Connors for years but since the Smileland takeover they have added new dentists and seem to be corporate driven. At our recent cleaning visit we did X-rays and was told that our child had 4 cavities AND needed a crown!! Now she brushes her own teeth and prob doesn't do the best job but this seemed a little excessive so I brought her to my own dentist for a second opinion. When I showed him the X-rays he didn't see anything that needed a crown.... When I pointed it out he said "oh that's a filling.... Maybe she isn't comfortable with fillings so she prefers crowns but I would definitely do a filling there..." then I ask about the 4 others and he said he only saw one other spot that we could either watch and wait or do a small filling now.... Otherwise it was just the shading!! We will be doing the filling with him and then finding a new pediatric dentist! Dr Connors was always great but this new company is in my opinion sketchy. This was just our recent experience but I had previously heard things about Smileland so I wanted to to share.

The latest one was when my youngest (4yo) had cavities, I asked dr. Connor to explain to me about the situation and what treatment should be done. She said: "You don't really need to understand, I am the Doctor, that's why I went to school." I felt that was very unacceptable for a Doctor to say to any parent, but decided to just stay put. Thinking maybe she had a bad day or something. The following week I came with my Son for the treatment, Dr. Connor never once tried to make any conversation or even greeted us during the visit. The whole time we were there she was busy gossiping with her assistant while doing the treatment and completely ignored us. She never explain the treatment to me, I was so surprised to see dark color filling was used. My Son felt the numbness from the anesthetic for the rest of the day (more than 9 hours), he bit his lips to the point that it was bleeding and badly swollen. After reading multiple similar experiences from other people in FB, I decided to move all my three kids from there.

We both were very pleasantly surprised how smoothly this appointment went. All the staff my daughter saw were very careful, helpful and gentle with her. The…read morefirst visit should have turned me away but my son was in pain and both children needed work done relatively quickly so I pushed my concerns aside because I figured maybe I'm just being overly sensitive. That was a bad idea. Our first appointment, the dentist was very rude. My oldest child is very afraid of the dentist which I made very clear prior to the appointment, I also reiterated it when we arrived. She was being berated for crying. The dentist was not understanding at all, she had very little patience and kept yelling at my child. Fast forward to the day of my sons appointment, I had my mom bring him, he is usually pretty easy but he came home crying that the doctors were mean and wouldn't stop yelling at him. He said he didn't know why they were so mean to him but he did not want to go back there ever again, he's 5. He also came home with bruises on his back and arm that he didn't know where they came from. He did not have them that morning. The next day my daughter had her appointment, she's the one who has a severe fear of the dentist, she's 9, and I still went thinking maybe I was just being dramatic. They brought her to the back to weigh her and get her height to know the proper dosage to sedate her with (both children were sedated). Another thing I forgot to mention was they had me wait in the waiting room, I've never been to a dentist office with my children where they didn't let me in the back with them. I thought everything was going fine, the dentist told me everything was fine. My daughter came out balling her eyes out. She was trying to tell me what happened but couldn't get the words out. Finally on our way home she told me it was the worst experience of her life and she never wanted to go back. She said the dentist yelled at her the entire time. She said she yelled at her to get out of her office. That she said she was tired of dealing with her. That she was the worst patient ever. She said that she had asked to go to the bathroom and they wouldn't let her, which she did in fact pee herself in the car because she just wanted to get out of the office as quickly as possible. She said that she told them she could feel everything they were doing and that it hurt and they kept going. She was so upset and kept asking me why they had to be so mean to her and begged me to please never take her back there. I felt so helpless and awful. I felt like I let my kids down. I will not be returning to this office. I plan on cancelling their 6 month check up.

Dr Kim laid out a sensible and affordable plan for me to have healthy gums and reclaim my natural smile. He is genuinely kind and compassionate and cares about the relationship between your good oral health and your overall health. First, the office is immaculately clean and ultra-modern. The front desk folks especially Michael are very friendly and set a relaxing tone for what is usually a stressful visit. Of course nobody likes to sit in the dentist chair, it can be nerve wracking and filled with painful thoughts, but I felt none of the usual trepidation here. I had long overdue major work done and while I can't say I enjoyed it I knew it was necessary. The work was executed in as pain-free a manner as possible. Beginning with the digital X-rays which are immeasurably safer than traditional X-rays to wonderful dental hygienist Danielle who walked me step by step through the full mouth deep clean to the skillful hands of Dr Kim who performed an extraction, and a same day implant, I knew I was in good hands and had found my "for life" dental practice. if you have been holding off for one reason or another, I would urge you to visit Canton Modern Dentistry and see why I am so excited. I still have work to do but I feel confident that I could not be in better hands. Very highly recommended!
