Chula Tacos will still always be my favorite spot for adobada tacos, but I was a little disappointed with this location. The location itself is great, and the service and seating are all big pluses. It's more spacious, less crowded, and there are usually more open tables, which I really liked. I also noticed (though I didn't ask to confirm) that they seem to take drive-through orders, which is super convenient. That said, the adobada tacos and vampiros didn't taste the same as the original location, and the food was a little cold when I got it. They do use a bit less meat, but I think the main reason it didn't taste the same was because it was cold. Because of that, I'll probably stick to the original spot for my adobada fix, but don't dismiss this location! The cebada drink and the oil salsa were still just as good as ever. I can really only vouch for the adobada tacos and vampiros since those are my go-tos. I personally don't care much for the kekas or asada tacos, but that's just me! I'd still recommend trying them for yourself. The asada is good if you add a little salt and eat it hot right away, but it's not something I usually order. Came here because of a tiktok hyping it up - We ordered a Keka de asada 10/10 , delicious - tacos de tripa 8/10 (good but has the burnt oil taste), chicken 8/10 and al pastor 5/10 (no pineapple and really greasy) and to drink tamarindo 10/10 and Jamaica 10/10. Gio was very helpful and gave us a lot of great suggestions but the only good thing on the menu was the keka of asada. The girl at the window .. when I asked, "could I have extra" (didn't even get to finish) ... she cut me off and said everything is in the bag- EXCEPT it wasn't and we didn't get napkins. Went back to Chula Tacos on H Street in Chula Vista, CA, to try their carne asada tacos and they did not disappoint. The carne asada meat had that smokey taste like what to get at the Mexican taqueria stands in Mexico. We also ordered the pork Al Pastor tacos and were very delicious. Chula Tacos makes their own corn tortillas on the spot which makes the tacos taste even better. These tacos comes with a generous amount of guacamole. Stopped by Chula Tacos and it definitely hit the spot. I ordered the regular tacos -- 2 asada and 2 al pastor -- plus an asada mulita, and everything was really good. The tacos were packed with meat (no skimping here), flavorful, and satisfying. They bring out three different salsas with your order, which was a nice touch, and all of them were solid and complemented the tacos well. The staff was friendly, courteous, and welcoming, which always makes the experience better. There's seating both inside and outside, so you've got options. I saw this place on social media and I have been dying to go! You cant miss it! Once you pull up you'll see the smoke from them using the grill to cook their meats and you'll know your in the right place! The parking situation is pretty tight so good luck finding some where to park. I walked in and immediately thought the at was beautiful on the walls. It smelled so good inside and you could see the staff making fresh tortillas! There was plenty of seating both inside and outside. And the woman who took our order was very kind and patient with us. We ordered a Lamb Taco, an Al Pastor Mula, and the Gringa with Al Pastor and Carne Asada. The Lamb taco was so tender and juices, it was perfectly cooked! The Al Pastor Tacos were full of flavor and the corn tortilla was freshly mad which made for such a delicious bite! And the Grinda was a freshly made flour tortilla that pulled this giant taco together. I had to say. The carne asada was perfectly cooked! Not dry at all which is so common. I love carne asada but when it's done right and this is the best I've found in California so far! The green salsa was really good and the orange salsa they had on the table was also such a nice touch with a little bit of heat and some citrus. The guacamole on the tacos was a very generous amount but they don't add any seasoning in it so add lime and salt if you need to. And they brought us an extra bowl if limes with radish and cucumbers. We also got an horchata but it was a little too artificial for me. Good but very sweet. There's a large drink selection with other aquas too! Chula Tacos has recently opened their latest location in Chula Vista on H street. I love their al pastor tacos so I ordered a trio and $3.50 each. The tacos came doubled up with the mini corn tortillas as they should be. I like that they put on the hot griddle with a little bit of juice from the al pastor. The tacos were great! The came generously filled with freshly made guacamole and tender al pastor pork meat. The meat was delicious and the guacamole was well seasoned. The hot sauce that came on the tacos was tasty and offered a medium heat. The chopped white onions and cilantro that came on all three tacos were fresh. There's a good amount of inside seating, but parking can be tight during busy hours. Andrea at the counter was very nice and friendly when she took my order. Came to chula tacos on a Sunday afternoon Tried the Keka de asada ( fire and filling !! ) Husband had tacos de tripa ( enjoyed the crunchiness ) Taco de labio ( it was aite ) And he had a keka de adobada. ( nasty ) Their asada is alright, the labio needed some more salt, tripas were good but the adobada? Not a fan. Something is missing as far as flavor. Again not a fan. We gave the place a solid 4. Quite disappointed after a friend recommended this spot and we finally made it! We got the al pastor keka, al pastor tacos, and pollo tacos since they don't offer carne asada yet!! I had no idea they didn't have it yet, otherwise I would've gone to the palm location. A space was fine, the service was fine, but the food just was bland. That meat was just OK, a little crispy than I expected, the guacamole was bland, the handmade tortillas were just OK. The big tortilla for the kicker seemed quite thick. I did like the thickness of the taco tortillas. Horchata was nice and fresh, not too sweet. I like the Horchata but at $4.50 and no refills, it's a bit pricy! It is my third time there, the service has been great and the food has been very good. They are waiting for the city to give them the permit to start cooking the carne asada outside in the front. I finally tried Chula Tacos and let me just say... these tacos are absolutely bomb. And that's coming from a born-and-raised San Diego native and certified taco connoisseur. From the very first bite, I knew this place was different. The meat was insanely tender, juicy, and packed with flavor -- perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Every taco tasted fresh and homemade, not rushed or greasy like some spots can be. And the tortillas? So soft, warm, and fresh that they practically melted in my mouth. You can tell they really care about quality. But I have to talk about the horchata because WOW. Hands down the best horchata I've ever had in my life. Creamy, perfectly sweet, and so smooth nothing watered down or artificial about it. I honestly could've ordered three more cups. Living in San Diego, I've had tacos from just about everywhere, and I don't say this lightly -- these are by far the best tacos I've ever had. This spot just set the bar ridiculously high. Ranking up in my top taco spot in Chula, none better than CHULA tacos in Chula Vista. At the time of this review, it was a soft opening. No carne asada during the construction period, they are building an outdoor cooking area for the carne asada, so they do not diminish the quality of their carne asada. Trued this place for the first time and this place is better than Tacos el Franc; Las Ahumaderas and others in the area. I saw a foodie on insta review the place and the keka looked bomb, so my husband and I ventured over to Chula Vista and boy oh boy was it worth it! The taco itself was massive and the tortilla was fresh and hot. I personally love Al pastor so that's was I ordered and it was seasoned so well and cooked to perfection. Overall the whole experience was 10/10. The customer service was impeccable and the wait time was not bad at all for being the weekend. Came here b/c I heard tacos were amazing. I ordered a keka with al pastor and tripa mixed. Al pastor was super greasy. And tripa wasn't crispy as I thought it would be. My bf ordered all 5 tacos al pastor b/c he loves al pastor. But he was also disappointed saying it was so greasy he couldn't even finish them. Service was ok. The cashier didn't speak English l get it it's a Mexican joint but it just sucks when most of your workers don't speak English. Also they didn't have carne asada ! I wanted to try their carne asada but she just kept saying no no. So I'm assuming they don't serve that in this location just yet. Anywho I don't think I'll be returning. I asked for empty containers to take a little bit of the Salsa Macha to go since it's the only one that I like, they said they didn't have any so I took the green salsa container they gave me and threw it out and fill them up with the salsa macha (they never said anything about me not being able to take some!) once they saw me filling one up they came up to me saying I can't take any because it's policy, which I would've understood if they said that in the first place!
