The service was friendly and the breakfast was fine. The place is more of a hole in the wall than I expected.

I've eaten here for almost 40 years, everything from their huge breakfast to their homemade burger to the chicken fried steak dinners. Always great food and friendly people. Plenty of parking, convenience store attached so it's a 1 stop delight. Can't give enough stars and look forward to every visit. HIGHLY recommend this place. read more

My favorite all time restaurant. I go back and forth from. AZ to Iowa and I always stop here. It feels like a restaurant that stepped out of the Brady Bunch era. A classic 60's or 70's ambiance. The service is top notch. The food is like a home cooked meal. The people are incredibly friendly and helpful. My tire on my horse trailer went flat and they found me help. Only complaint I have is the bathroom always smells of an old mop. Other than that, I love this place. read more

We were in Meade on medical appts. Both hungry,hubby wanted to check this place out. We loved it! First off, no loud blaring music, much appreciated, as it is nice to hear the person your with. We both ordered breakfast although it was close lunch time. I had the egg scrambler with sausage. Delicious. For what breakfast he ordered but he is ask for biscuit and gravy, Large biscuit and gravy that tasted like homemade, came with it. Excellent coffee also. My sister, and I were very hungry and we were literally in the middle of no where in Kansas, so we finally found a dinner and pulled off and stopped. As soon as we walked in, every was so nice and like gave you an old school feel too it. The waiter Chris, was very nice, came right up to you and asked how we was doing and that we can sit anywhere. Which we did. The place was very clean, and smelled fresh. I got coffee and Oj and my sister got OJ. I ordered a meat lovers breakfast burrito and she ordered a super stuffed omelette and biscuit and gravy. We also got onion rings as well. The food was delicious, very fresh and amazing, the coffee was great as well. I really liked this little place and will definitely be returning. Good meal, friendly service, well stocked (and clean) salad bar all packed into a building that doesn't look like much from the outside. It's right on the highway between the towns of "middle of nowhere" and "hole in the wall". The guy who served me was friendly, upbeat, and polite. Reviews of the place on another site were very good. I didn't want much...just a filler for lunch and to get back on the road. So ordered the burger, chips, and a 1-trip to the salad bar. Burger was hot, the fixings were fresh, and the salad bar was full with food that's really good for you that I don't eat. LOL. Listen, the bathrooms are dirty, the hallways need new floors, and the parking lot looks like the surface of the moon. If you're expecting a 5-star meal at Lowry's Steakhouse, you're going to be disappointed. If you want a meal that will settle the cravings and tastes good going down, then you'll do just fine here. read more

We got a bag full of chips in a used grocery bag very unsanitary they put the straws in the drinks for you which is gross we had a hair on a straw from them. Came to town to see the Dalton Gang hideout. Saw a bunch of cars at this restaurant so we stopped. Friendly, family service. The salad bar was great- don't miss the broccoli salad! My husband had the rib special and I had the roasted chicken. Mashed potatoes, green beans and a roll came with each dinner. It was just like eating at your Grandma's house. So good! read more

We ate here tonight & the food was pretty good. The waitress was grumpy and didn't give us much attention. I had the large taco special. It was an oversize taco on a lightly grilled flour tortilla. My husband had the chicken fried steak open sandwich. It was completely smothered in gravy but he said it was tasty enough. read more

Our server was a young man that did a great job. After that being said everything else was bad. Restrooms I don't think had been cleaned in many weeks as well as the entire place. The food was very salty and it was very small portions also when got to my wife and me no rolls just a piece of bread. This was not a place I would ever eat again even if only place. read more

My husband and I were trucking and stopped here for the night *warning bad parking lot* got up to have breakfast at the Chuckwagon...delicious food! I had the Spanish omelet he had steak and eggs both were very good. But I really want to give a huge shout out to the staff! Super friendly, funny, nice and never let your coffee get cold. Also, the young man in the convenience store was very pleasant & has great personality. Nice to wake up to happy people and good food! And that salsa should be sold in bottles!
